And from this I achieved around 42 although this is an estimate because Lexus Link hasn't recorded any trips since yesterday lunchtime!! Tonight's guess is 58.8/57.74 points

I got delivery of a new 450 a week ago. It came with a user guide (looks smaller though than my previous 12 years old RAV4) and a service book.4 points

My standard Lexus wheels looked great from a distance, but when close they had big lumps of paint flaking from them. They were painted by the supplying garage when it was purchase two years ago and it appeared that the paint did not adhere to the primer coat. To do them justice they needed doing properly, which was stripping and powder coating. Then the trims and centre caps which are plastic, painting too. What I found was how much this work has gone up in recent years....no change out of £500! The purists will say wheels should be standard to the model. Others say that wheels are subjective and as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. So decision was made that new alloys were the way to go because no waiting with the car off the road, no trips to tyre fitters or repeated journeys. If not bought on line, new alloys are instant, fitted while you wait! There are so many choices. These include style, size, colour and not least price! So decision was made!3 points

This may be their migration to LexusLink+ the new version of the App? I moved over as part of a general update and it’s not capturing all trips and also now only reports the rolling month rather than all data (trips etc, performance) a bit annoying tbh. I guess it’ll improve though hopefully2 points

Surprised by another incremental increase with the latest charge showing a predicted 55.8/54.1. Long may this continue!2 points

As I have commented previously, as someone who has enjoyed a lifetimes career in the printing industry I am saddened to witness the apparent demise of the owners manual and service record book!2 points

To me the SC looks so much better when the standard wheels are changed to something else. 5 spoke alloys especially.2 points

I'm not so bothered about a service book as you do get a receipt / record of the work carried out. I do quite like having an owners manual - especially as "modern" cars can be quite complicated.2 points

Just please use this calculator: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=245&aspect=40&diameter=18&wheelwidth=8.5&offset=50&width2=225&aspect2=40&wheel_size=18&wheel_width=8.5&offset2=30 The link is already setup for 245/40R18 18x8.5 ET50 (factory rear sizes) & 225/40R18 18x8.5 ET30 (which is what you get with 20mm spacers) "Compared to your existing wheel, this new wheel will have an inner rim which is 20mm further away from the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 20mm more than before." Good 225s are more than enough for an IS250. Square setup is the way to go when you're not pushing 400hp. Don't forget the base model is250 with 16" wheels came with factory 205/55R16s all round.. And this is a controversial opinion, but people who put anything bigger than 245s on this car need to learn to how to drive this car because those bigger tyres won't keep you on the road any better. If 225s can't keep you on the road, it's driver error. Over-tyring is a common problem and it actually hurts the cars performance.2 points

I've got over 30 miles when it said zero left, and so my guess would be that 8its left is an uncounted reserve to help keep you out of trouble.2 points

Was hoping I could report back on my brake shake issue after having serviced the old discs and swapped to some new pads. With lots of scrubbing and scraping in between (the calipers/sliders). Took it easy for the first 200 miles to Bristol (in a one-er, like you do in a LS). Then drove back at 60 and 70 - as opposed the the 56 on the way down which the arrogant versions of truckers hate - and used the brakes slightly more/harder. Then after hitting about 500 miles, the spirited driving began with harsher braking at 70mph. Totally and ecstatically happy to report back that now on almost 1000 miles post brake service, the brake shake is almost entirely gone (or on its way out). Job well done methinks... Best go give some charity donation in thankfulness (to The Lord of All the Worlds). Next job, I suppose rust under the boot lid/lip edges. Would be a shame to lose the car to such a straightforward (I hope) fix. Headlamps need doing (refurbishment) and thanks to Dave at LexTec I'm allowed to order my own original parts and he'll fit em. So should save me a good couple of hundred on the timing belt/water pump. Job well done... Alhamdulillah (All Praise God).2 points

Prevention is always the preferred option for me, so mine will be going in Sept/Oct for cleaning off and then treating underneath, cavities, behind arch liners etc with LanoGuard, quoted around £160. I didn't think at that price it was worth DIYing without a ramp.2 points

Thanks to @scythe I now know what 'nerfed' is (or might be)... Maybe something like, wriggled with holes, but will ask my 8 year old later. But more importantly, that I don't want a 500H (or a 600H) which after the OP opened the thread had got me thinking. Not that I could afford any of them anyway, but at least I don't need to think of em as a future car. Mainly the turning circle but also the shifts in the 500H. It is indeed a gorgeous car though if ever I saw one. Best work harder to keep the old LS430 going I guess...2 points

I should have held-off just a day after yesterday's post! 😄 My collection day has now been confirmed as 1st September and I've also been given my '73' plate registration number. At least I now know for sure I've got beige glovebox lid in mine - which I'm still unsure about... I was never offered a trade-in value at the time of ordering. The reason given was because the dealer would only guarantee that price for three months. They said that right from the outset and wouldn’t even give me a rough idea of what they would offer me. I was told they would honour the price of the new NX as it was in May 2022 when I ordered it (which they have) and they worked out how much the finance would be if the car would be there after a few months. However, they said this particular part was to only give me a rough guide and wouldn't be guaranteed. They'd only honour the price of the car. Obviously I can’t speak for the few others who have had a similar ridiculously extended wait as I have, but I think because the dealer have on record two out of the three complaints I've made to Customer Services, they did also eventually agree to honouring the same finance/APR rate as I was quoted last May too. I will admit I was genuinely surprised by that given how much things have changed in that respect in the last near-16 months. I thought they'd try wriggle their way out of that one, but fair play... I think the only piece of positive news to come out of this whole saga with my order is that because I’ve been kept at the 'back of the queue' for so long, I'm paying upwards of £5000 less for the car than what it retails at now. They certainly won't be making all that much out of me on the finance either, after making some sums earlier. Not that I should care - the dealer and Lexus have only got themselves to blame for that. There's no way I'd be able to afford the car now, at current retail price. I was close to my limit as it was almost 16 months ago. I really do wish you well with the trade-in value with your Honda. I got pretty much what I expected for my UX (give or take a few hundred pounds) and if I had to pay the current APR rates, it would have really started to sting for me. I only hope the company can get their act together on future NX orders. It would be nice if we all had similar lead times and were treated with the same priority, rather than having very long-waiting 'outliers' like myself and a few others - which it's long since become clear they don't care about. Great news, Deb! I thought ours would have been on the same boat given we had similar ETAs, but it looks like mine was about a week and a half (ish) ahead. Again, I've no idea what ship it came in on or when it arrived in the UK. I only got to find out it's whereabouts in the world when it actually arrived at the dealer. 🙄 Indeed, fingers crossed you'll get 'the call' soon. I collect mine on 1st September - so just over a week to go. I genuinely can't wait for this to be all over and done with. It's been (or will be by next week) near enough 16 months of demoralising wait.2 points

I too plan on taking the LC on an epic euro road trip, so I’m eagerly awaiting my feedback / route recommendations Marcus. A personal concern is about where to park. So any recommendations on good hotels / locations welcome too. I just applied for my Crit Air cert 2 weeks ago and it took a little over a week to get to me. You must place it on the front left of your windscreen (passenger side).2 points

I think this has nothing to do with steering calibration etc. If you're indicating left and turn the wheel clockwise by more than a few degrees the indicators will cancel (and vice versa) It's a mechanical function and not a fault. Just hold on to the stalk or flick it down again.2 points

My last car had perforated leather seats and I know what you mean. I even filled some of the holes with leather cleaner once 🙈 I was quite careful in the car to prevent as much "debris" as possible ie. no eating in the car. Might not be possible for everyone.1 point

An interesting point, Phil. I contacted Milenco to ask for their comment. Their detailed reply emphasised that it had passed the five minute Sold Secure Gold standard, but conceded that like most such security products a thief - given enough time and facilities - could remove it. However, its presence would make attacking the wheel itself a not straightforward job - and potentially even dangerous. They confirmed that it should fit over spokes with paddles, but if that was a problem it could be fitted across the top of the wheel, using the new protective pads supplied with the Plus version. They also supplied the Milenco Outlet contact which was offering the product at a very competitive price. https://www.milenco-outlet.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=67981 point

That is actually good point - I find it hard to justify anything wider than 225s, considering base spec. came with 205s and it is not like it has less power, or weighted less... same 204hp, same weight. I do understand people put larger wheels for the looks, but what is the point of wider tyres where it doesn't need to be wider?!. If you track the car and you have some sort of amazing grip set-up, sure wider tyre is better on dry surface. But wider tyre is actually worse on wet, worse on fuel, noise and it costs more. Again if the car has 400hp+ - then sure you need it for traction (not cornering, but straight line traction), but for 204hp 225s are plenty. I maybe see the point of 245s on IS350 that has 306hp and as it obviously shares design with IS250 I can understand why Lexus has wider rears by default - so it is not so much that IS250/IS220d needs it, but more because it was cheaper to set-up suspension geometry once and fit it across the range.1 point

Hi Guys, im really enjoying the forum for the SC. I am a new owner but not new to Lexus. Im loving my 2005 SC430. I have a couple of questions if i may. 1. The car was recently serviced by an independent non Lexus specialist (the last owner had this done). The CEL is on since the service and battery disconnect switches it off but it returns after two start up cycles. The engine runs lovely and performs better than expected but does seem to hunt a little at tick over which eventually seems to clear when warm. Ive ordered a code reader so will check it out but im suspecting something to do with air sensor? Anything worth checking? The fuel cap has a small split in the seal is this likely to cause the CEL? 2. The front cup holder sticks down when closed and has to be prised open, it works ok when opened. Is this common and fixable. 3. The drivers door pops and cracks when opened is this a common? 4. I only have one key and finding a spare to be cut and programmed is proving difficult. The key i have only has 2 buttons (open and close) and no boot release. Im sure its non OEM. If i get a 3 button version programmed would that allow me to open the boot as well? Thanks in advance for any replies and help have a great day.1 point

I have this on my 2013 F-Sport with memory seats. Very useful to me. It was enabled by default, I used no device like Carista to enable it.1 point

There's always some in reserve even when it says zero miles left - probably enough for another 30 miles or so - they are trying to make sure you never actually get stranded for running out of fuel.1 point

Everything I've read about poly on LS's have all commented on more NVH. For some it was fine and a welcome improvement (usually combined with coilovers etc), for others it took away from the levels of comfort they were used to, and they either did switch to oem or wanted to. I haven't read once that it was the same as oem.1 point

Interesting site. It shows that for the UK total numbers on the road were as follows: LS400 (1989 to 1996) peaked at 5.3k and the LS400 Auto (1997-2000) peaked at 2.3k which gives a UK total of 7.6k across 11 years (1989-2000). For the LS430 (2000-2006) that number was 2.4k. For the LS460 (2007-2017) that number was 849. For the LS600 (2007-2017) that number was 564. For the LS500 (2017-2023) that number was 122. Looks like a declining market to me. 😞 I can fully understand why there is no replacement for the LS500.1 point

Couldn't see any way to edit my last post, so this is just an after thought... looking back through the PO's notes I see this listed among the maintenance work that had been carried out "GSF/RCF Front LCA Bushings". Is it safe to assume that this will be adequate for normal road use ? Cheers...1 point

In general having narrower tyres will improve the fuel consumption, so most likely it will use less fuel. Yes the tyre will be 1.6% smaller, not massive difference but it the speedometer will indicate slightly more than actual speed, which it already does anyway.1 point

The LBX I was sat is was all powered up. It had what looked like a large power source under the boot floor whirring away. The car was able to be switched on and seats adjusted to whatever position I wanted. The seating position in my video was for my driving position, but set a bit more forward than usual to give a bit more legroom. When the car was ‘started’ the seat would move forward and then backward when turned off. The lady on the stand said everything works, but the car had been disabled to stop it moving. I was also able to have a play around with the centre screen. I don’t think I have ever said it is too small to be a Lexus, so that must be someone else, just that it’s very small in the rear, but being smaller in the rear than a UX that makes sense.1 point

I was going to open a thread on this topic, but thought I should search first. Was in a quiet country village in the week and the alarm went off. Despite me stopping it with the remote it kept doing it again and again. Very embarrassing. Read the manual in the glove box and tried the locking and unlocking x3 thing, but it didn't help. Then I realised I'd left my phone inside the central storage bit. Once I took it out, the alarms finally stopped. I'm guessing the phone was somehow interfering with the electrics and triggering it. Glad to find some confirmation with your reply!1 point

Could be it's not been fitted properly or there is a loose hose, also check the oil filler cap is done up tight. I would be inclined to rule out a vacuum leak as the first possible cause.1 point

Nick, I saw you car parked in front of a Cromer sea front hotel a couple of weeks back and very nice it looked too. I had my SC430 parked less than a mile away in East Runton, Unfortunately I could only manage 27MPG on the 70 mile run up from West Suffolk.1 point

To me it looks 'ok', not amazing, but 'ok'. If I bought it I would certainly give it a good wash, brush and then treat it with something like LanoGuard or similar... underneath.1 point

Hi, We are still waiting for new suspensions (Meister R coilovers) to arrive, so there is a slight delay to finish it. The car should now be ready for Friday due to the delay. Limitless Detailing UK team put decal Lexus Logo on the bottom vinyl panel to match the original vinyl Logo, they even fixed my magnetic buttons in back seats! Primed calipers and painted them and decal Lexus Logo... the fuel cap is sitting in exact position, so this has been fixed. In the meantime, feel free to see photos. They tryluly speak for themselves...1 point

I believe technically you should always notify your insurance company of any incident As soon as you inform your insurance company it will have a negative impact on your renewal invitation, claiming or not still goes against you as it is recorded as an event.1 point

Not really, no. There are plenty of vehicles the same size as a typical SUV and plenty of people that can’t park. To suggest the ones that can’t only end up in SUVs is plain daft and untrue but I don’t intend debating it any more, if that’s what you think, fair enough.1 point

I didn’t know there was a mediator other than the mods but my point is, this guy who doesn’t identify himself or what car he drives, professes to be an expert and states with such conviction why we are idiots for running rebadged Toyotas. All Lexus’s are built in Japan. The materials in the body and interior are superior, so are the underbody treatments, the self healing paint is thicker and more durable. The sound insulation and the seats are another level, the electrics and lighting are upgraded and the fit and finish is the envy of the world. I don’t know what this person runs if anything but I don’t suggest he’s being cheated or shouldn’t own it. I’ll buy what I want and being in the motor industry for 29 years at a senior development level, I’m qualified to judge what manufacturers build. So firstly, I don’t need a sermon from you because I responded to these painfully long posts on why Lexus are cheats. Secondly, a Lexus is worth a lot more because it costs a lot more to produce. It is an all round better car.1 point

I agree with these sentiments. Had a Yaris Cross for two weeks whilst in between selling my is300h and waiting for my 2016 GS450h to be prepped. Did c500 miles plus in it and found it quite fun, very economical and easy to live with, could see myself in an LBX when I’m doing less of the long work trips (the GS is excellent for those longer drives). Whether the LBX is value for money is subjective, I predict they will shift a fair few of them though.1 point

Good idea! More to come as the inside will be prep and changed. I will not say more at this stage, as photos (when ready) will do justice.1 point
