Hi guys, after owning a 2011 rx450h SE-L for 2 years (shouldn't had sold it) and a couple of cars later I was thinking to get a Touareg euro 6 but after reading all the horror stories I'm back and today I got a 2014 FSport. Great cars, don't make my mistake 😂2 points

Bernard. The first 'thing' you posted about BEV fires. That was dated 2020 December. What bugs the living daylights out of me is the copy n paste brigade. I read that article about 21/2 years ago and again just over a year ago. Not your fault however. This thread is going doolally with all sorts of nonsense. Some do it to wind others up. Some do it coz they're bored merdless etc etc. At the end of the day technology is changing almost every few days with new forms of battery cell structure and hydrogen manufacturing processes becoming cheaper and cheaper. Shame alternatives like synthetic fuel isn't being mentioned as much.2 points

I have been quiet about my vehicle delivery over the past few months due to a false 'gone to build and In Transit alert' sent by Lexus Customer Services through the App, only then to have them cancel that notification with no explanation or reason. Zero Communication from Lexus themselves and since then I was not sure if the informationj I was getting from the Lexus app was accurate. Even my dealer was frustrated and did share the internal Compass system correspondence with me at all stages. I cannot complain at the dealer here... more on this later under another thread. Anyway, I collected my NX450H+ F-sport in Sonic Titanium today and I am over the moon with the vehicle. Given the common topics and discussion points in this thread, and for those that are interested in the nitty gritty details: Order Details NX450H+ F-sport Premium Plus in Sonic Titanium Front and Rear Dash Cam Protection Pack Roof Bars + Roof Box Tow Bar Delivery Orderred 15th May 2022 Build date Mid-March 2023 Shipped 29th March 2023 Vessel Name : Morning Clarie Arrived Portbury 28th April 2023 Arrived Derby 4th May 2023 Arrived Dealership (Southampton) 22nd May 2023 Collected 26th May 2023. Status on key items The vehicle is MY24 Single Key Fob provided (2nd Key Fob to be provided 'Eventually') Keyfobs are 'UWB' Car does include NanoeX Dash Cam Front and Rear has been fitted. Tow Bar Fully Fitted. ( I believe this does disable the kick sensor option - still trying to verify) Protection Pack including Mud Flaps and Rear bumper PPF strip all fitted Roof Bars and Roof Box OK (Despite Lexus shipping the wrong colour) Locking wheel bolts not fitted (to be provided 'eventually') Notes The Tow bar is very discrete and is recessed when not used. I have included a picture below as I have not see any previous images of an NX Phase II of how the TB looks. There is a cut out in the bumper skirt which can be seen from underneath. Thanks, I’m loving the colour in the sunshine, several shades of blue, purple, shiny bits when you zoom in on the picture. Was talking to the dealer about the launch of the LBX coming up, looks like it might be an interesting option next swap time. Same size and chassis as the Toyota Yaris cross with an improved engine and Lexus interior. Price from £30K, so a fully specced model Takumi will be less than the entry UX and ES. I dont really need a big car, only me in it.1 point

Just be careful or it'll fail the MOT. If a headlamp unit was designed to have a halogen bulb in it but you put something else in there, it's a 'Major' defect and an instant fail. Similarly, if the unit is designed to have a HID (Xenon) bulb in it and you put something else in there, it's a Major defect and instant fail. Whatever the light source (bulb) it must match the unit it's meant to be in. From the MOT Inspection Manual:1 point

gentlemen, absolutely all the sodding data about every Tesla owners car ( and probably every Tesla owner too ) is now freely available to whomsoever needs it or wants to peruse it, it would seem ...... " Tesla breaking news 100 gigabytes of confidential data leaked by whistleblower " is that a lot do you know ? Musk will doubtless blame everyone else and sod the Tesla owners needs................. he's making plenty of spondoolies ££$$££$$ All that " free" charging clearly has a price 🤣 Oh for the simplicity of my petrol, but non-guzzling, totally free of Data V8 4ltr limo Malc1 point

I have ordered a “extra kick-sensor so that it would work with the towbar. But as you say I do not believe it will be smart enough to understand if it is in use or not. Towing is something the Asian cars do poorly. Perhaps they do not tow stuff around over there.1 point

Well what can I say. after my car was built and had left Japan I asked my dealership if it was a MY23 or MY24 and was told MY23. the car arrived at the dealership on Wednesday evening and I asked for a photo of the inside, which they did ( along with outside shoots ). The photo shows the new MY24 colour scheme for Black with rich cream ie colour glove box etc. so I asked does this mean it is a MY24 spec. Still waiting for reply , I think I can assume it is the full MY24 spec. sorry for doubting you when told it was from March 2nd1 point

As I now own Phil’s Celsior and was aware it did not meet the required standards even though an equivalent UK specification model did I contacted the DVLA. Several weeks later and despite explaining it was a JDM import they requested a letter from the manufacturer confirming it met Euro standards. Toyota UK obviously wouldn’t be able to do this and contacting Toyota in Japan is more or less impossible. Regarding the vehicle tax being cheaper this is because the taxation class is based on engine size ( up to 1500cc or above 1501cc) and not emissions based as is the case with UK cars.1 point

Hi Daz Jam. I have got same issue. I have checked all suspected fuses but all of them were not blown. Any progress in your case? All best. Marcin1 point

This isn't something I've managed to achieve too often in my 2014 3rd gen RX, but as I'm dragging my overall MPG up (now at an indicated 35.1) and the weather is getting warmer, helped by some longer journeys, it's happening more often. Ever since I started driving I've always reset the trip meter when I fill up, and that's usually my guide as to when I should next stop for fuel. As I go through the tank I then add that to the cruising range to see what it's predicting. It's starting me off at something like 460-465 miles, but as I drive around at better than 35 then I get closer to the 500 miles figure. I try not to go too near empty, the total usually starts dropping again as I get towards the next fill-up. But to see this figure of 500 at some point is pleasing enough. I have filled-up again since the above shot. When I parked-up it was showing just over 40MPG and 502 miles trip + range, and I think the highest total I've seen so far is 503. Can I make it to 510? My journeys are a mix of Norfolk/Suffolk A-roads, country lanes, towns and villages and the odd bit of dual carriageway. I don't drive particularly slowly, I've found the trick is to carry speed and use any opportunity to lift my foot just slightly. It's surprising how often it will maintain speed with next to no throttle. With that info screen I can then easily see what's happening (more so then the energy screen, or the main dial). The bars are a quick indication of how I've been doing. Tyres are Continental All Seasons all round at 2.3, and the AC is on all the time. I'm usually using E10 fuel, often from the supermarket. Occasionally I give it some E5 but my journeys aren't consistent enough to see if it makes any great difference - perhaps I'll try again on the next fill-up. I had new plugs at the last big service (60k) and the mileage is now approaching 70,000. I don't obsess about this (honest!), it's just something to keep me engaged as I drive around on the work commute, meeting/survey visits etc. As a comparison, my wife's 2010 Toyota Auris 1.6 (non-hybrid) gets around 42-43MPG on similar journeys. I'm sure a newer RX would be even nicer and maybe a touch more ecomonical, but I'm happy to keep this one while it continues to do this and offer such comfortable, relaxing and capable transport.1 point

That is really excellent Nigel but I see you are in Norfolk which is comparatively flat, certainly compared to Devon where I am which is very hilly. Then there are so many other factors that can make a difference among them, rolling resistance of tyres and tyre pressures, passenger and cargo load, length of journeys and particularly frequency of cold starts, ambient temperatures and weather conditions, percentage of time you are in optimum speed efficiency range, octane rating and how hard you drive. So it's inevitable that drivers with get variable results. When I bought mine with just under 40K miles on it, the mpg was showing 31.2mpg in the Cheltenham area from memory and this was in winter. Down in Devon I usually get about 27 in the winter and about 29 in the summer but this includes quite a number of short journeys. Best I had was in the summer on a long journey where I got 38mpg. I do drive up to speed limits (road conditions permitting) and almost as hard as on my 3 litre Beamer but making allowing a small degree of moderation for the hybrid RX. This is well worth it for the comfort the car gives but I would not make a great compromise to achieve maximum mpg all the time at the expense of driving satisfaction., especially as I only have low annual mileage these days. I am sure I could improve significantly on MPG with an NX which would be fine for short and moderate length journeys. (I did test one for a day). However, the extra comfort of the RX on the occasional long journeys makes for just a little less strain on my problematic back, so I will probably stay with my 3 Gen RX450h for quite some time yet.1 point

Sometimes I wish I had kept my second gen IS as a collection item. It was a bit special, with light-coloured leather, Mark Levinson, and adaptive cruise control (when that was still quite an expensive extra). And the build quality of the second gen IS is stellar. It literally felt like the LS of the same era, obviously in a smaller format, and with a less powerful engine, but otherwise just as well crafted.1 point

Linas i agree with what you say but bear in mind that is our thinking, people that drive/drove Lexus and are interested in buildquality, perfect fit and finish tight shutlines and premium feel quality materials in all touchpoints. BUT, are we a dying breed?? How do you otherwise explain the massive success of Tesla? Surely in buildqulity they are at the bottom of the pit but the Y is the absolute bestselling car in the world and as a manufacturer they dominate many countries and this will become even bigger withe new low cost Tesla in the pipeline. It seems people just dont care and see a car as a washingmachine. Energy level A, practical, cheap to run. OK that white one please?1 point

Interesting thread you started Mattias. I'll join in as I'm a former keeper of the is300h premier. Superb car from which I went to RX450H as a larger car was needed. Now I'm in the best Lexus I've owned. The is250 and the way I see things is I'll still be in my is250 long after I've retired in 6 or so years. To go EV for me is a very expensive unaffordable luxury which I'll never enter EV ownership. Those with EV's I wish you well and hold no negativity.1 point

Someone called 'Aden Shomefun' on the Facebook group 'Lexus Owners Club UK' has just posted this in the last few minutes: Found this parked up in East London. Obviously stolen. Chassis number ends in 7013. Anyone missing an RX?1 point

I've driven across France a couple of times in the last 18 months in my 2009 RX 450h, and at speed limit (70-75) got around 32-35 mpg. However, the last time I pottered along at around 60-65 and got 41 mpg. That tends to be my experience here too on motorway journeys. As it happens, the slower top speed doesn't seem to materially affect journey time, largely because it's easier to maintain. At a higher speed I find there's more slowing down behind other drivers, and then having to speed up again, which not only drops the average mph, but also burns more fuel at the higher speed and from the accelerating to get back up to speed. I should point out that this is with E5 petrol, usually Esso which is zero ethanol. With E10 it tends to drops by around 3-5 mpg.1 point

I started digging to uncover the mystery. And found the actuator to the recirc diverter was missing its lever. However the lever is fine, it is the pin for the recirc diverter that broke. I managed to remove the fan motor section. Some a few hours of excavating and pulling, then I had to repair the bits I broke. and of course fix the bits the previous idiot broke... Some PP welding at 300c later... Test assembly, required quite a bit of fettling on the repaired diverter axle. Now the trick to reinstalling (without removing the dash and making this a three day ordeal) is to assemble the parts under the dash. then clip together and screw the diverter section on. Then of course install the diverter actuator and the arm, and all the many ECUs and other wiring. This was a very challenging repair, and I have yet to commission it.1 point
