The reason auto manufacturers are throwing money at EVs is because the skulduggery cowboys in the gov told them to, that should be pretty obvious. It's not like your council or government or auto manufacturers are telling you stuff they don't want you to know. Electric cars, come on you don't need to spend 50 grand to get from A to B. The environmental damage these things cause is catastrophic, they are a pain in the butt to own, I wouldn't swap my Subaru for one if I was paid - 3 hour queues in the winter that's just waiting to charge the damn things up, I fill up every 3 ish weeks, takes me 2 minutes. I can drive 60,70,80 mph no problem, leave my sound system on, turn on the heated seats, climate control maxed up and overtake useless slow drivers, many driving EVs - I'm not looking at the range every 5 darn minutes and more costly it seems to run than a petrol car now it seems. Half a tonne of lithium batteries in a car isn't eco friendly and besides combustion engine cars in England account for less than 1 percent of global greenhouse gases themselves - trust the science aren't telling you this. It's all about control and getting people off the road, all this nonsense is only impacting the over populated and over gluttonous western world who are having too much of a good time2 points

Trust me I'm absolutely 100% spot on with this figure, (says he with a big smile across his face) in fact I'd have taxed it today if I wasn't so tight.2 points

Yesterday on a trip back from Southampton I managed to reach all the 2's. I suspect that this might be the one and only time I see this is a car I own. 10 years of owning this car, never let me down, and now thinking about what I might be looking for next, not sure if it should be a LS460 or GS450 assuming my missus stops bothering me about owning such large cars that she does not like driving them. I just love the lack of noise and sheer lovely-ness of these barges. Here's to another 10 years of owning a Lexus of some sort2 points

Yeah that's not very secure is it? I don't suppose the other part of the clamp is at the bottom of the tray by chance? Be handy if it was there.2 points

A common thing is the exhaust shield under the car. It's strange how it's rattle transmits to a different part of the car. To check the AC pump I'm not sure where it is but get a long screwdriver and use it as a stephascope and listen for a rumble which means the bearing is on its way out.2 points

If anyone else has this issue, as I did, it is repairable although you would need to know someone with a lathe and a milling machine. Basically the moulding had a pin that is offset and can break, so I made a small section out of brass held in place with a couple of M3 screws, nothing is seen once in situ, total time 2 hrs total cost about 10p2 points

Hello Farsh. Your video is rather noisy with the leather seats scrunching and you fiddling with the trim. Is your car left hand drive? I'm going to jump the gun a little. The is250 when it first starts has a kind of dull whistle. It's nothing to worry about. It should only last 2 or 3 seconds.2 points

I had a call from my dealer on Friday, we negotiated a deal by email and I placed an order yesterday morning, £5.5K saving on list price. My 2yr PCP still has 10 months to go but my really low mileage and current equity meant keeping payments similar but getting a new one; probably easier and maybe cheaper now than waiting till Dec. I am going Mica blue with Hazel this time, seen this combo on lots of YouTube videos and it looks really good. Been quoted August delivery keep you updated as I get notifications on my app, it already shows up as a new order in my virtual garage1 point

I generally with you on this... I am not against BEVs... I am just against the current "type" of BEVs . And I think the "range-anxiety" is misplaced... really it isn't the problem with range, it is problem with charging. Imagine if you would have to pay £500 to refill at petrol station and had to wait 3 hours vs. £5 to do it at home overnight... you would look at the range of your petrol car as well and would always try to have as much range as possible when leaving your home! So it isn't range, it is the cost and the time it takes to charge that is a problem! And sure... Elun the liar Mushk and all the EVangelists keeps saying how it is not an issue - "yeah sure maaaan... but how often you stop at services and you sit down for 40 minutes to have coffee there... and then on occasion as well decide to watch the movie as well... and then as well have massive sticky dump as well which takes you 40 minutes to clean-up after... and then how often you as well just say ffff-it I am just going to stay at stinky Holiday-In for the night... so yeah maaaaan that isn't an issue if it takes 2 hours to charge, because you staying overnight in the motorway services anyway...". NOPE - sorry not for me! Sure on occasion I have to spend 10 minutes looking at some idiot at the till who can't decide what sauce he wants on his hot-dog and maybe overall stop takes much longer than I expected... so instead of taking 2 minutes it takes maybe 15. But I am not waiting more than 15 minutes to refuel... I am not into this "new way of thinking" where I have to alter my perception to convince myself it is ok to spend 2 hours every 200 miles in the motorway services. This "new way of thinking" is basically a brain-rot... it is not just changing "perspective", it is literally dumb and retarded. And ok... I am driving more than 30 miles only once a week, and more than 200 miles only once a month... but when I am driving I want every thing to be ON... and I am not sticking to 60... 70... 80... If I am in Europe I go as fast as it actually goes, because I generally want to get where I am going as fast as possible. Because on 1500 miles trip the last thing I am interested in is my range! (small side note - BEVs not only **** at charging, they as well crap at any speed above 60MPH). So in the end of the day the biggest problem in my mind is charging and that is literally endless pit of problems... capacity, generation, transmission, how long it takes, battery degradation etc. Like there is a lot of problems with that... and until they are resolved I can't see myself in BEV. The global emissions from private vehicles are 2.4% - 2.1 diesel and 0.3% petrol and hybrid combined. So not quite "less than 1%", but the point remains the same - how comes 2.4% are such a big focus, when remaining 97.6% requires no attention. Just doesn't make sense... unless like you say this is a trick to make us all into slaves, who have no freedom and no control... and who can only go where public transport takes them, when it works and only on routes where it goes.1 point

Sucks doesn't it, and if anything it seems to like to go up. I used to think it was "fair" as the later cars have GPFs fitted and the engine makes a bit less power as a result, however it turns out there's a goldilocks zone of 2017 cars which don't have a GPF, but still get the cheap tax.1 point

Don't think you're tight at all! Fortunately I can afford the expense to tax a car at the higher rates ie RCF £615 and ISF £630, but for occasional use at weekends, to my mind, that is just too much. Now with the newer tax rates LC500h £155 and RCF £165 it just makes much more sense. Stupid man maths I know, especially as one has to purchase a newer car to benefit, but I begrudge paying tax to the government.1 point

On my 4th Lexus (2nd new NX350H) and they all had a creak especially when in the 'HOLD' point on a gradient (up or down). I did find that letting the hybrid system do its job i.e. slowing down earlier, softer breaking when in traffic reduced the 'creak'1 point

We bought an RX 300 at 10 years old and rust was similar to what is pictured. Once i bought it I rubbed down as much as I could and painted rust converter on the steel and then primer and finished with Bilt Hamber wax. The wax had to be applied every year otherwise it washed off, particularly on the exposed parts. Sadly, every year, the appearance got worse - and I wasn't doing a huge mileage. At 5 years ownership the rust looked to be becoming a problem, coupled with water leaks into the interior and I decided to move it on - for a Seat Ateca 190 tdi (wife's car). I do the same routine with it, and it's so much better protected from rust than the Lexus (it is a lot newer to be fair). I've checked on the continued MOT history of the RX - and my daughter in law's one of the same age - traded in at the same time and for similar reasons. They both have had sills welded and reports of the structure surrounding the subframe compromised - i doubt they'll last much longer. To cut a long story short, try and buy the best condition one you can and look at numerous examples, especially if you hope to keep it for some time. Perhaps get a proper underbody condition survey and work out if rust being sorted long term is viable prospect. Cars in Scotland do get a hard time though, especially by the sea. As far a engine noise goes I can't really comment, but our previous models were very quiet, and i'd expect nothing less from a lexus. I do wish they'd properly seal the body and underneath though - it's not rocket science. Good luck. Pete1 point

Just had a call from Lexus Lincoln to say they have the part in and to confirm tomorrow’s appointment. I mentioned that I have just over 1/4 tank and they said they could still do it as long as it is less than 1/2. Will update later regarding how long it takes and what has to be removed.1 point

Hello, Have a look at this thread ( I have just attached the link to the latest update but the original was started some time before) It may point you to the cause of the noise and rough running on start up. It's a common issue with keyless ignition systems. Since they rely on radio communication (433Mhz in UK/EU) a powerful transmitter on a nearby frequency can knock them out enough to stop them working. Also, any piece of electrical equipment can spew "noise" to the point that it interferes with lots of electronics. I'm a (now inactive) Radio Amateur and many moons ago I had to trace the source of an intermittent blast of noise that was knocking out all of my communications on the 6m, 2m, & 70cm bands. It turned out to be next doors vacuum cleaner that was 25 years old and the brushes were worn out. I fitted new brushes to the motor and a new condenser and the noise never returned.1 point

Why would you want a hot heated seat? Warm is exactly what is needed in the UK climate and in really cold climates anybody with any sense fits fabric seat covers. If you are cold then you need to get your car heating system examined as it's probably not warming up quickly enough (dodgy thermostat?). My better half loves the heated seat so the passenger side gets used regularly. The drivers side has been used maybe twice in 5 years. If I want to feel like I've p!ssed my pants,..... I'll p!ss my pants 🤣 I have heated grips on one of my motorcycles and they can be set so hot that you burn your fingers even with winter (thick) gloves on. I've never seen the point of that as once the ambient temperature gets close to freezing, the bike gets parked. I've ridden on snow and ice and crashed on both and now choose the car instead. I used to have a set of heated clothing back when motorcycles were my only form of transport, and those never got "hot" either, but they were adequate down to -20C the one time I got caught in a "beast from the east" blizzard in southern Germany.1 point

It's pretty obviously been used as a demonstrator for a dipping business. If it's all dipping then it's removable but I would expect the car to be bought by someone who is into the VIP/bippu style. Not even remotely my taste (or lack thereof) but someone will want it and it keeps an LS on the road.1 point

One further point that hasn't been mentioned is future insurance. As I understand it one a potential claim has been notified to insurers whether or not it is pursued they treat it as a claim and this will affect NCB and future premiums over the next several years. Last year while in France someone reversed into my parked car and damaged one of the doors. It wasn't too bad and as the car is now 17 years old and I am not concerned about it appearance I was going to leave it. In the end I decide to get it pulled out and re sprayed which cost about £500. I didn't mention it to my insurers and will not record it as an accident or claim in future renewals. I hope you can unwind the mess that has arisen here. You will certainly be better to recover the car and repair it ( better the devil you know etc). The insurers will try to roast you over the value and it will certainly cost you more to replace it with anything similar or newer which will come with unknown problems. Mike1 point

It's just Brainwashing on a global scale, I said this a few years ago and it's only getting worse. What people should do is write to your local council and ask them what measures (if any of course) they are planning and if they like you know considering actually asking if it was ok with the tax payer itself before going ahead with this bs. Richard Vobes on YT is good, no nonsense and speaks sense. Electric cars have nothing to do with the environment, it's all about control.. like covid and everything else happening. In 2030 the government will have more control than whoever is in the car, if you are an engineer it's easier to figure out this racket going on. I can only imagine the amounts of money exchanging hands since 2015 to make everything happen as it is now and it's easily trillions of dollars we are talking here - it's why I never trust a politician and this is going back decades. They're not trustworthy and never were - swanning around in jets and yachts and armoured vehicles while everyone else is getting crippled, Sunak getting a jet weeks ago to some meeting, Prince Charles is just as bad another puppet for the WEF spreading the net zero narrative. The uptake on electric cars at my company is poor, we have a scheme going on since last year - everyone working here are engineers so not easily played, the company are just going along with whatever dross the government say.1 point

Electric cars and Net Zero are clearly all skulduggery to get control of people. It's all kicking off now what with the 15 minute commutes in Oxford next year. Covid looks to have been the green light to governments to begin this totalitarian control bull and we have all the other measures taking shape (bike sheds, squiggle lines, picnic tables, flower beds, removal of parking spaces and general nonsense, eventually it looks like ULEZ zones and all these restrictions will cover large swathes of the country) all done with no consultation because why bother with tax payers they are just getting in the way of things, referendums are long abolished - Governments use the net zero climate change narrative for everything - they are hell bent on it so much they created a war. Governments are like cartels since 2019 pretty much - the bank of England and the banks of every other western economy are getting ready to roll out a digital currency also - that too is another controlling measure - because when you ignore all the science and look beneath the bs you will see carbon credits are basically a tax on your wealth itself - hence the phrase you will own nothing, banks, high Street shops, airports closing are all part of the plan it seems.1 point

Walk away as it should not make any noise AND have a service record to match the mileage. The rust looks superficial & what I would expect to see, but I would still walk away. IMO !1 point

Maybe/If - that is pretty much same thing, but I can't say it won't work because that is subjective. Rather limited range depends on where it started and again depends on the needs... I keep repeating it but the key fault of BEV thinking is "average daily journey"... and with that in mind even if 10 years old BEV going to have 70% of 200 miles range left, it would be plentiful enough city driving... assuming that 30 miles a day is all you need... that will be plenty of range. I am just saying that going electric confines us into situation where instead of having freedom to drive anywhere we like anytime we like (like the main advantage of having personal transportation)... we instead are constricted to flawed nature of the technology. Those flaws won't disappear, but if BEV works for you today, then it will work for you in 10 years time as well. So from the perspective... will 10 years old BEV be good buy in 10 years time... yes for those for whom it works today when new, and no for those for whom it doesn't work anyway. Simply said it is more nuanced then simply being good or bad.1 point

It wasn't tongue in cheek.Previous replies had covered the obvious "technical" aspects, and cataracts can cause difficulties with night driving...as I know from personal experience. Hence looking at it from a different perspective.1 point

Well that does put a different spin on it! You were right to inform your Insurers about the damage, but clearly there’s no possibility of a ‘knock for knock’ situation as your neighbour is totally responsible for the damage. The fact that you are both with the same Insurer should make a resolution easier. It’s not an uncommon situation. If you call about the damage on Monday, I would suggest that you make it very clear that this is a claim against your neighbour’s Policy! Looking at the damage - and reflecting on how a claim might affect my own Insurance - were I your neighbour I would have considered getting an estimate for you and settling it privately.1 point

Right, final update (hopefully). RCD started to trip this morning, after the 2nd time we investigated. After going through the house unplugging everything we moved onto the garage. Turned off the boiler and it stopped tripping. And guess what - all of our cars are now unlocking fine! Must be the wireless control for the boiler interfering with the alarm systems - even a remote control lamp was flickering before when turned on! Thank you everyone for the info and help, what a weird couple of days.1 point

I am sorry this has happened to you. How things go, really depends on who you were insured with. You need to read the small print. What happens when a car is a writen off, do they cancel your insurance?. Let say you have a 12 month policy, and have 1 month left, before renewal, it is n't an issue. However, if you just renewed, you loose 12 months worth of policy cover. It depends on insurers. Idealy, they should continue the cover to the new car (or continue if you buy it back). It is a pain when they cancel the insurance, so you can't drive your car to see other cars and you can't borrow other people's cars. You become carless! Sadly, something similar happened to me. In my case, it was n't worth claiming, so I got it repaired myself, but I was asked to a new MOT.1 point

....and finally, last weekend involved a drive out to Silverstone for a Coffee Run event. Having a few weeks away from driving the car really made me appreciate what she is and what she can do. Even nearly 2 years on and driving her is still an occasion and fun. I've toyed with replacing her, but to move to an RCF seemed like a waste of money for very little changes considering where the ISF is now and other than the run of the mill and common German equivalents, I find myself in the happy place of not wanting to replace her. This year will see PPE headers and an RR tune, plus a full service and some more weight saving modifications, plus a trip to the south of France and plenty of shows. Thank you for catching up and viewing my post.1 point

Engine should be quiet all but for hydraulic tappets rippling away. Rust looks like mostly surface rust, which if that is the case can be scrubbed and Lanogaurd treated. Worth checking service history and verifying mileage though.1 point

I had the same problem with a 2006 IS250 fitted with Xenon lights and new bulbs sorted it. You could try swapping the lefthand and righthand bulbs around and see if the problem moves which would confirm that the problem is the bulb. In any event it would be best practice to replace the bulbs in pairs as the colour and light output diminishes as the bulbs age. Dec.1 point

Hi all Car was reversed into by the neighbour car. Insurance took it away, the guy who took it said will most probably be written off. Not heard anything back yet still chasing the insurance, while enjoying a CH-R hire they provided I got the RX it for £4K about 6 years ago and have driven it to 150K miles. Now looking at auto trader the high milers are selling for £3.5K to £4K still (Crazy) I am dreading the call from insurance as I hate negotiating. But what would be the book value of the car they'll offer? Should I accept that or try and negotiate to 3.5 to 4 K? It does seem unfair that out of no where my pride and joy is no more and then to not even get enough money to be able to replace it? Auto trader wont give me valuation, says more then 15 yar old so it's unable to do so. Thanks0 points
