As promised here is an update. Lexus have declined to amend their stance and to be honest I am extremely disappointed with their customer service in this instance. However Lexus Bolton have been superb. They amended the deal, gave discount, gave more money for my trade in and all in made the deal attractive. As a result I take delivery of my vehicle on Monday. To sum it up, very poor show Lexus, excellent service from Lexus Bolton.7 points

The SC is a car worth keeping and that mean that if it is a keeper, Lexus would be the place to go have all controlled. Not the cheapest place to have a car examined, but they know something about Lexus cars. On the other hand, the SC is more a traditional car than the newer from Lexus, so a good honest garage would be able to look after it just as well. One thing I recommend is that parts to replace should be OEM Lexus/Toyota parts.3 points

This may be something youโve already done, of course, but have you considered having it professionally detailed with a high quality ceramic finish applied? It wonโt stop it getting dirty, of course, but itโs dramatically easier to get clean - and you end up with a superior and longer lasting finish than the factory produced.3 points

A few things: When I say it's loud, it is a monster, the mid pipe is a decat (more on that further down) so I hope you have forgiving neighbours for cold starts or live in the middle of nowhere. Although the back boxes are valved (if purchased too), it is still damn loud. They should slip onto your OEM system fine and utilise existing exhaust mounts etc. Running the wires/ hoses for the back box valves is the only fiddly bit that you need to work out where you want routed. It will drone, but if you are good at caressing the throttle and keeping at a certain RPM when cruising it could be fine, or just play your music loud haha! The decat. Everyone and their mums cat has got an opinion BUT, it is an MOT failure. Although many cars will pass emissions tests without secondary cats, the wording is ANY modification of OEM emissions equipment is a failure (regardless of a passed emission test). Now, whether your average garage KNOWS that the secondary cats are missing and/ or cares is another discussion. That is for you to make your peace with either way ๐ My only true negative was, my one had the valves seize open on the back boxes, simply because I never closed them. So periodic opening and closing may prevent this, or possibly I was just unlucky. Now the great bits as alluded to in my opening statement, its LOUD! You really unleash the NA V8, the idle is magnificent and low rev rumbles are just superb, bouncing off the limiter is beyond a dream. If you like NA V8's, then this exhaust will make you feel whole haha! It will be a talking point amongst car people, you'll get chatting to other V8 lovers, just because engine go brrrr ๐3 points

He's not kidding, I've heard Kieran's car in person and it must be one of the loudest exhausts I've ever heard. For many people it would be far too much. You have been warned! ๐2 points

Just been to Lexus Maidstone, to get an inspection done for my new LS400 which has water ingress. I asked the mechanic/technician how to clear the sunroof drain-holes and he said they always use an air hose and did mine for me foc.2 points

I had mine serviced with Lexus this August with Invidia full system fitted, no problems at all. The video they do simply said "...and I can see a nice new stainless exhaust system has been fitted so no issues there" I enquired about Relax warranty and they said they will continue to cover all parts which are NOT aftermarket - but you are alikely aware of this having fitted the QS already... PS I have heard @hockeyedwards car in the flesh and it sounds epic! But yes, very loud ๐2 points

brake fluid, gearbox fluid, coolant, having been changed, should I get these done ? If you intend keeping the car I would get these done. Radiator might also be worth considering if the SC430 has the same issues as the LS 430.2 points

I think last years meeting was Sunday the 10th July so next year could be the 9th July if it sticks to it's anniversary date. It was arranged by Juan Thornes who runs the Lexus SC430 Club UK group on Facebook so I guess he will do the same next year and let people know. I think the announcement of the date and time was only made on the 10th June so it was quite short notice so it would be better to set a date sooner so more people can plan around it.2 points

Funny you mention that as I have used the excuse "I don't want to buy a new car in October as the clocks will change and I will be driving it in the dark and won't be able to enjoy it" - however I bought it in December instead! Agree with the ceramic finish, had mine done when new 7 years ago, and it still looks shiny after a clean. I use ceramic shampoo as well (on the car) wouldn't waste that stuff on my head.2 points

So glad I picked up my new UX in July, it actually stayed clean for several weeks, I look at it now and some days it looks ten years old with the present mucky weather. Giving it a wash tomorrow ready for a trip up to the midlands, it will look ten years old again half way up the M5 but what can you do, just have to keep trying to keep it looking presentable as much as posssible and look forward to the summer again when you can enjoy that first dry sunny day when you give it a spring clean and fall in love with it again. I think it'll be loud and you'll have to get used to 'loud all the time' as you have no valves. The mid pip really does give you the biggest noise gain due to the decat. Unless you get headers, which then just make it on the bonkers end of the spectrum. Clips above ๐1 point

I think if you are after louder than my video with a lot more drama then stick with your plan. If you would like something a little more discreet but still sounding great on tap, then perhaps look at the GT Haus with valved silencers?1 point

Servicing will be fine with Lexus, warranty will also be fine as long as the aftermarket part does not cause the fault/ failure, i.e the brake caliper has a problem... hardly related to an aftermarket exhaust! Only other thing I didn't mention was insurance, just make sure you update them/ get a quote including the system. @Hatat I will try and find the old uploads of mine for cold start/ drive bys etc ๐1 point

Haha thanks, I will never go back that's for sure. Invidia only make 1 system for the RCF, I believe they call it the Q300. Only a couple of us here in the UK have one as its imported from US. Well worth the wait. So vs the QS I find it much more 'refined'. There is not drone or hum/vibration through the cabin like I found with the QS at low revs. The QS was awesome when driving it hard, but pottering around town started to grate on me to be honest. Especially when trying to go up a hill at 30/40mph, that went right through me. The Invidia has the V8 burble as it drives past you at low revs, still makes people look - but its not AMG of course. High revs it does scream, very raspy sound. Will bang/clap on quick gear changes and of course off the limiter too :-). You will find the GT Haus quite a bit louder than that video of my Invidia.1 point

Absolutely! I am told by US owners that the Invidia is the tamest of the aftermarket systems but that was what I was after. The OEM exhaust just has no drama about it AT ALL and for me there wasnt any point owning my first V8 without the soundtrack to go with it. The Invidia is the perfect balance of OEM and theatre. Epic cold starts, nice rumble on tick over, no drone at all but let's rip when opened up, love it! I actually had the QS rear boxes before hand and although great soundtrack, they just didnt seem to match up to the Lexus level of quality that the rest of the car does. The Invidia feels to me as if Lexus fitted it ๐1 point

Just a service. I am yet to MOT with it fitted, but I will be going where my Brother used to work for that when it comes in March - just in case.1 point

An update on this, I bit the bullet and had the transmission refurbished. It cost a total of ยฃ2960, but I'm glad I did it as the odd shudder and hesitation was driving me (no pun) up the wall. I used Gravesend Transmissions who definitely know their stuff, unlike some of the cowboys I've encountered! You definitely get what you pay for. There was water in the transmission, so looks like past owners ignored or concealed it from one another, including the person who sold it to me. But, I've sorted it now and it drives fantastically well now! Very happy!1 point

I've not had a problem with mine, but several people on the ClubLexus forum have had issues with their switch. You can remove the switch pretty easily and test it with a multimeter. If it is duff then you will probably need to replace it with a new or used one. If it isn't the switch then it will almost certainly be the motor. This video should help although it is for a left hand drive, but pretty much the same.1 point

It rains a fair amount in Ireland, so itโs always a struggle. Iโm lucky that my car is garaged. I picked up my new UX in early September with a driving holiday 2 days later. Immediately on our return I had a full professional valet, ceramic coating etc. Itโs quite easy now to keep it clean but I will, at least every six months, have it professionally cleaned, polished etc.1 point

Interesting read on the website claiming some wild HP gains from their full system. Iโve got a Hayward and Scott rear section on my car and am also considering going down this route for cat removal. I assume it bolts on to any exhaust that uses OEM mounting type/position? Apexi also do one I believe.1 point

Thanks to everyone for the info above, I had the same issue on my 2006 Lexus IS350.I was preparing for the worst and taking it to a mechanic where I'm sure they would have replaced the Cat and O2 sensors.... I thought I would check under the hood at the mass flow..... the connector was not on all the way! plugged it in and fault was gone. hope this helps you guys.1 point

This guide may help without putting up a fight & the tool used I believe is Laser 8331 approx ยฃ18 delivered. If replacing the water pump or belt it would be a good investment, prying it with other tools has risk of further damage to the pulleys. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165713592944?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=yvwl7HUSReq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=m3fnkB75QhS&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY1 point

I'm sorry. But reading your post, it looks like you didn't get my point at all! It matters not that the Subaru might shift better or be faster. I don't care. I just would never have one. Period! It just not my type of car and it doesn't check enough of my boxes. It could check the shifting box and that's it. Speed was never a box I needed checked. This is my daily driver and I'm not delussional. I didn't expect a sport car. I mean, it's a saloon. I knew exactly what I was looking for when I bought the IS250 and speed was a nice to have. Being an well rounded package was the important thing. If what I wanted was something that was very fast and shifted awesomely, and this was the priority, there are about a billion other options. Better than the Subaru too in my book. The Subaru would still be at the bottom of my list. But this was never my priority. An well rounded package was my priority. So the Subaru would check ONE box. But it would still leave comfort, class, looks, RWD etc unchecked. So it matters not how good it shifts. It's not a car for me. I never saw anything special on the Suburus. They were always either a bit boy racer or a bit of a lackluster attempt at a luxury saloon. If they are that at all. But if I had to buy a Subura, because somebody put a gun to my head, it could only be a Legacy. An Impreza is just not at all whatsoever a car I would have. If I want a sports car, I buy a sports car. ๐ I would not go for a saloon posing as a sports car. And this is what Im going to do next. Buy me a real sports car for the weekend. ๐ The Lexus is a classy, luxury saloon with a bit of fun sparked on top. This is exactly what I want. My sport car will be an all out hardcore lightweight driving machine. I like using the right tool for the right job. ๐ As for the ISF, if it was a manaul, it could well be a very good replacement for my IS when the time comes. Yes, it would still be as old. But at least the V8 novelty could strecth it for a few more years. The one thing I don't like with the ISF is the looks. I think it doesn't look as classy and I also don't like the huge overhangs. I'm not sure if the front overhang was made longer to accomdate the V8. Even though as far as I know the chassis is the same. But maybe the bigger and longer bumper was needed because the cooling bits had to be pushed forward. But from the side, the ISF looks off balance IMO. The wheels look pushed it. IMO the best looking IS250 are the 2011 and newer cars. Secially in Fsport trim. They also have the shortest front overhand, which makes it look modern and better balanced. But if it was possible to manual swap an ISF and then take a 2011 Fsport bumer and make it wider to fit and put it on the ISF, it would be the perfect daily driver. Even tough I complain about the consuption of my IS250 for daly use. At least it would be a V8! ๐ Back to your Subaru, I understand you might be enamorated with your car. But this is a Lexus board and I think no ammount of writing and refute preaching for the Subaru will convince people here. Or they would already be on the Subaru forums. ๐ I know I'm done with the Subaru talk. Not for me, even if it drove as good as a Ferrari FF, which is about one car which could convice me to let go of a manual. Yes, it drives very good and yes I have driven it. I like it more than some of the mid engine Ferraris I have driven and this is saying a lot. They have real useful backseats too, which is important to me. I have kids. But being the clutch-shift knob addict I am, I'm sure even then I would miss rolling my own gears. Keep one thing in mind when trying to understand how I feel about the IS250. I didn't buy it because I couldn't afford a newer or more expensive car. I bought it because I wanted a RWD manual saloon and didn't want a BMW. I wanted a good looking, luxury, classy, well built, four doors, V6/V8 RWD manual car and didn't want a BMW. Even if you think a BMW would check all the above boxes. With that, I close the page on this. Enjoy your car! I know I'm enjoying mine. ๐1 point

As stated in my earlier post i would put the instructions on how to calibrate the device. eBay Description from seller After installing cars in some countries, the tyre position and tyre pressure figures will be confused. Please don't worry you only need to deflate the tyres to the corresponding figures, the system will automatically match and correct, very simple. The four tyre deflated figures are: Front-Left 100 psi Front-Right 130 psi Rear-Left 160 psi Rear-Right 180 psi Four tyres are automatically calibrated. I suspect this maybe for LHD. So if you have a RHD i believe it would be: Front-Right 100 psi Front-Left 130 psi Rear-Right 160 psi Rear-Left 180 psi When i contacted seller about why the warning light was showing the wrong tyre i was told that i need to calibrate the device as follows. Email from Seller: Please follow the steps below: 1. Close all the doors. 2. Start the car, and turn off your car when you see the tyre pressure interface, repeat this step 5 times. 3. Start the car the 6th time, and you will see the tyre pressure calibration interface. 4. Get out of the car and install the Front-Driver side wheel pressure till you see it display on the screen. 5. Install the Front-Passenger side wheel pressure till you see it display on the screen. 6. Install the Rear-Driver side wheel pressure till you see it display on the screen. 7. Install the Rear-Passenger side wheel pressure till you see it display on the screen. 8. The pressure calibrated1 point

Just giving an update with a bit of a twist ๐ it seems pressure sensor is advising in when tyre pressure is low Bit the twist is when is when I went to check the tyre it was the rear driver side tyre that was low lol and not the one highlighted. Overall I'm still happy with it as I always check all 4 tyres anyway.1 point

It will stay red for quite some time, it isn't like engine oil which turns black because of the combustion process. But darker fluid isn't really a problem unless it is burnt or bordering on black.1 point

It's even worse on the window, folding mirror and door lock controls on the driver's door, only last night l had to use my phone's light to sort out a 'window open' message. Another one of the niggles that you wouldn't expect on such a car.0 points
