Hey, so ive finally took the plunge and joined you lot in CT200H ownership. Traded in my daily driver 05 plate Celica Tsport, only picked it up today so still having a play with bits and bobs. 66 plate on 36k, so much better than the now dated Celica and can really feel the build quality difference, although that might have something to do with the 140k it had on the clock! Absolutely loving learning and playing with how to drive this thing to get best mpg. I know have a clean/cleaner green car to balance out my pollution pumping IS300 turbo🤣. Strange having 2 Lexus's both at complete opposite ends of the spectrum!

Yes they did - they invested their dirty oil money into various aspects related to BEV because government matched it 1:1 if not 2:1... now they have no interest in hydrogen, they secured their profits for another 30-50 years and eventually we going to have same discussion "how oil companies where hampering battery tech" vs "how battery companies are hampering hydrogen tech". Problem is that without proper long term vision and strategy from the governments or extra-governmental powers like EU, business will always do what is best for their investors... they will never care about such inspirational goals like long term environmental protection. Yes they will do a bit, just enough to avoid sanctions today. And I am not any sort of socialist, who believes that we should have "5 year plans". Business have a right to be profitable and should be free to do what is needed to be competitive and progressive. But global problems which are very complex, requires decades to figure out, multiple governments to agree etc. should be set in clear directives and enforced by governments. Simply saying we need to be "carbon neutral" is not good enough... sure we will be carbon neutral, but at the same time maybe we will pollute all the water on the planet with cadmium, lead or some other crap. Is that really good solution? Obviously not... and therefore we should not jump every time when somebody offers solution with lower carbon without considering whole impact and every aspect. Just recently it happened with diesel... somehow for last 3 years diesel is not lowed so much... do you remember how it sounded in 2010?! According to government that was perfect solution for all issues and if not for diesel gate they would be offering diesel therapies for covid 😁 Who is to blame? Government and their policy - they had goal to reduce the CO2 at any price to look good on reports, business offered them what they asked... just small caveat CO2 was lower, all the rest of pollution was higher. And it wasn't like government didn't know, maybe not initially but diesel fuel was supported years after it was clear that it has more side effects then it makes good. I just see this pattern repeating again...

It won't make any difference to speed of charging because, as you say, the 12v battery is charged from the hybrid battery. This happens at the same rate whether the engine is running or not. The only difference is that going for a spin will use more petrol because the engine will need to run more often.

I had a new XC90 nearly two years ago. For a large family it's the better car as far a space and practicality goes. BUT I successfully rejected it due to numerous faults, including engine warning / emissions lights and multiple electrical problems. I had use of the managers XC90 more than I used my own. Also the diesel 2.0 4 cyclinder is a bit of clattery unit which although plenty powerful enough doesn't suit the nature of the car. Except for inferior rear seats and poor infortainment system, the RX is a better car. Volvo although slow, accepted the rejection and we came to an agreement. PS Be aware the 7 seater RX cannot be fitted with a towbar.

The refuelling infrastructure, safety issues and production, even if these issues were all suddenly ironed out, hydrogen lost to lithium ion a long time ago as an automotive fuel. Despite years of promise and a few attempts at production models, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles haven’t managed to capture the imagination of car buyers. The amount that has been committed to the lithium ion supply chain, excluding charging infrastructure, is around $600 billion. Hydrogen is $40bn max (analyst figures). It’s a completely different scale. In many respects, lithium ion is too big to fail over the next 10- to 15-year period. Fuel cell vehicles have a huge potential, but not for the next two decades, by then the EV technology would have a huge advancement. Toyota is convinced hydrogen has a place in the future of cars, However, the lack of infrastructure, support, demand to support fuel cell vehicles remains a monumental challenge. How long they will keep this project going, remains to be seen. The world is changing at a ever growing pace, and innovation needs to keep up the pace, otherwise it loses to newer technology. From where I see it. In the end, Hydrogen vehicles might be the technology of the future, but future of hydrogen would benefit commercial fleets more.

Beautiful car but the money burned a hole in my pocket and I went for a 2017, 14k miles, Mesa Red is 300h Premier. I'm not one bit disappointed though!

Thank you John. Considered the GS but need the flexibility of folding rear seats. I think the major problem will be finding the right car at a local dealer, they just don't have a wide choice but i guess that's part of the appeal pf a Lexus.

I had some time this evening so I've done it already... Pretty straightforward but took much longer than I expected. Once I asked the car system to check for updates I was presented with this screen. The download size is quite small (must only contain changes rather than the whole map) and it is for GB and Ireland only: The download then started with the % completed showing... It took about 15 minutes to download - my WiFi signal is quite weak outside so it was slower than expected: Once downloaded the installation started. I expected this to be quite quick for such a small download. However it took around 40 minutes! Once complete the 'Current map version' screen reported the following: Note: the main software update screen still reports the Nav software to be 2020v1 No codes / payment / activation needed. My infotainment system already has my lexus.co.uk login details programmed in. Hope that information is useful.

If the mechanical linkage is alright it's probably an electrical fault in the sensor itself or the connectors. Try cleaning the connectors first as it's the easiest job but if that doesn't work, take off the sensor and open it up to see what it's like inside. If it's beyond repair eBay have them for just under £24 here. P.S. When someone says they have a 2005 RX300 I'm always curious if it's my old one, GY05 HVK.

I replaced my Dunlops even though they had a lot of tread still. They gave a hard ride and the carcass too stiff amongst other drawbacks. The Michelin Cross Climates have proved so much better on my car but that's an suv so can't advise on your car but doubtless others can and I also expect colder weather playing a part.

Just for information, having looked at the situation in more detail (thanks again Herbie), we concluded that dropping the subframe sufficiently to enable welding on both sides of the corrosion was the way to go. We then cleaned up all of the underside and waxoyled to hopefully delay any further issue. Seemed like an easier option than replacing the subframe. My advice would be to check for corrosion regularly to hopefully prevent it getting to the stage where MOT failure is an issue. Classic case of do as I say rather than do as I did!

Here's my experience Yes it does work! I believe you need to make sure it's enabled. Look at the menu screen where you can turn the various driver assist features on and off - towards the end of the list (on the second page on mine) there is an option DRCC (RSA) or similar When radar cruise control is engaged, if the set speed is different from the perceived speed limit (see next point) there is a green box shown around the speed limit icon along with an up or down arrow. Pressing and holding the speed up or speed down button ("long press" mentioned by e-yes) will change the set speed to that new value My experience is that the speed limit recognition isn't that accurate. I think it starts by considering values from the nav database - which may be out of date to begin with - but then this is overridden if the camera sees a different sign. However there a few places around where I live that it gives a totally inaccurate value. Examples include Consistently reporting 10 mph in the centre of a village (standard urban speed limit of 30 mph applicable) On approach to another village, where the speed limit is 60 mph (national limit for a rural road) there is a sign about 200 yards before the change to 30 mph warning of the pending change. It has a black circle around the "30" rather than a red one signifying a statutory change. This is consistently picked up as a change to 30 mph during the daytime, at night it is not picked up. In a nearby city where there is a tram, speed limits for the trams are posted in kph using a diamond sign. On a shared urban road guess what the ES reports the speed limit as? - yep 50 mph!! From what I remember the automatic speed up/down isn't a particularly rapid adjustment On the topic of the ± 5 mph adjustments yes it seems an oddity. If you press and hold the "cruise on/off" switch (top right of the buttons on the right of the steering wheel) you get "traditional" speed-based cruise control which can then be adjusted in 1 mph values! Hope this helps.

You know these are one of the better looking soft tops. I remember going to the last ever British motor show it was held at the NEC its when they started bringing in the live action arena etc. I took my young son at the time and vividly remember taking our seat in the live action arena and there was one of these soft top Saabs in the middle of the show that was about to start never forget it. for a budget of £2500 you could pick late models IS200/IS300's but better to go for IS250's if you can stretch for another £500-£1000 on your budget. benefits if IS250 its more fuel efficient due to being direct injected, its newer compared to gen 1 is200's, its chain driven so no cam belt needs changing. so best to stretch for gen 2 IS or GS.. less previous owners the better

Nothing that has been added is "Requested" this is an update (a major one at that) and new features are added. I did not code the software or template. This is stright out the box. We go along with the updates for various reasons, one being security and progression.

I've only gone and done it! After years of umming and ahhing I've finally bought (subject to test drive) a replacement for my amazing is250. 3 year old Premier in Mesa Red with sandstone leather interior. The car is 137 miles away so I needed to be sure I wasn't going to have a wasted journey, I asked the company for a detailed video and we did the negotiations over the phone. Looking forward to picking it up on Thursday and then picking your collective brains as I need to know more. It's a 9-3 Aero with the B205R. I recently sold a 9-3 Convertible with the n/a B204i and I've had a couple of 9-5 Aeros (B235R) but I always found the 9-5s to be a little unrefined, especially when I'd got a Lexus or two on the fleet. The 9-3 Aero is a nice fit, has plenty that needs doing and also has that lovely body kit. More news as I get it

Hi, I began to notice some now and again clunk's coming from the rear end of my 2008 GS450h. Had the car MOT'd a couple of weeks ago and asked the mechanic to check it for me. He couldn't see anything specific, but he took a couple of photos around the differential area. When I expanded the photos, I could see the rubber diff mounting bushes were cracked. I got 2 new ones and had them fitted today. Both were totally finished, cracked and parted rubber. Runs like a dream again. So if you hear any clunk's from the rear, it might be worth checking these bushes.

I would imagine they are not trying to compete with Tesla. Also i would imagine the battery pack in the mirai are not as meaty, and probably not as big, however constantly being charge by hydrogen. Also 4 mins compared to 20min+ Hyundai, Honda and Nissan are also developing Hydrogen as well

The actuator only operates the locks so it’s difficult to understand how the door opened by itself which is purely mechanical in operation with rods/cables connecting the interior and exterior door handles. Price is as shown for the actuator, if you have some DIY skills you can replace just the motor inside it for a few pounds or look for a breaker not delivered by Hermes.

That is great way to put it - current BEVs are effectively "electricity guzzlers", but we not yet think in that way about EVs and that is why they can get away with it. Maybe for comparison we can think for one second about electrical heaters, and those who pay bills may know that having say 2KW electric heater on overnight will add to the bill quite a bit! Now think about EV cars - we start from 7KW for over 12h or several hours on even 22KW. If such number would ever be on electrical heater most people would say that it is crazy, but somehow when we look at EVs that is somehow "normal". and what about 150KW?! That used to be industrial estate sort of power requirements, not individual household. My circumstances exactly! For 100 flats we have ~30 parking spaces in the estate. I am happy to have parking space (which was by the way £40k), but obviously there is no way to charge the car there and I am already better of then 70 other residents who don't even have space. Now previously I have considered BMW i8 and I asked management company/freeholder for permission to install it - as surprise to nobody it his was quickly rejected on the technical grounds. I have challenged it and offered to cover the costs not only of the charger, but as well wiring, but it has been rejected again on the grounds of fire safety. Without their approval I cannot apply for planning permission, and without planning permission I cannot have charging point. This is not issue for ICE, but it is and issue for EV. Obviously even bigger issue is you don't even have space, as now you could rent it or park somewhere on nearby street (like council space or council garage), but for EV that doesn't work. And this is majority of the population... really only minority has off-street parking on driveways.

This is indeed true. The whole rationale behind smart meters is not to help the public (if you want a brew you're going to put that kettle on whether it's peak time or not) but to help the generation and transmission industries keep costs down. The EV movement is hampered in three ways at the moment - battery tech, infrastructure and lack of respect, moral fibre and general decency. The first two will be conquered relatively quickly, the second much longer, but I'm afraid the last one will take a generation or more to correct. What do I mean? Well, a large percentage of the population live in flats, terraced houses and/or other locations where they can't get the car into a driveway or garage to charge it and will have to rely on 'on-road' charge points. No doubt whatsoever that some scrote will come along and think it a jolly wheeze to disconnect the cars from the chargers, or some drunk will trip over the wire, sue the council and then all charging points will be removed for Elf & Safety reasons and so on.

Good luck with that Allan. I just keep all my clutter in various zip Laptop bags. Weight is only similar to having a toddler in the car. I omitted that I also carry a glass repair kit. Has been needed on both Merc and Lexus for stone chips which frighten the life out of me when something hits the Screen.

Bugger! It's the gift that goes on giving. Picked the car up today, just got home after the 140 mile drive, I think I might be smiling for a few days yet. Averaged 52.5 mpg. Drove there in my 2007 is250 and averaged 34.2. I can see where the chocolate money is going to come from!

Thanks Chan, another unusual add-on is that it has a tow bar fitted ... now I've read that Lexus do not recommend that this model tows anything! 🤭 I'll try my luck with the only photo I've got so far but being new to the site I'm not sure if it will work ... ... ah, it did work ... good!
