I'm really sorry to hear this, as a coppers son I lament the passing of the days when law and order consisted of a good slap to an errant youngster and the fear it instilled, followed by a bloody good punch to the adult who hadn't learned earlier. Hi everyone, I posted about this problem a little while ago. Thanks to all for the information which was spot on, it was the sensor link which had failed due to corrosion. Since I have done the repair the dash light is no longer lit but the ‘dip’ head lights are too low. Can anyone advise me how to reset the dip headlight setting . Thanks DaveB.

you're right. They do cost around £30 from dealer. However, they wanted £30 for the 8 spark plug gaskets. riiiippp ooffff So I though id pay £45 for a decent pair including the spark plug gaskets

I have heard that the screws can become loose over time causing a leak. Perhaps seal settling over time. May help to just retighten them in that case.

I had a problem with white smoke coming from my is 220d 2008 model. It was high mileage at 163000. The car gradually started to lose power too when pulling away but suddenly pick up. The garage couldn't find the problem and there were no lights on the dash. Weird?? Any way we decided to look at the turbo. A used turbo is quite cheap so we decided to get one and see if it sorted our problem. The turbo itself is water cooled, unlike a lot of other turbo's and so we think the seals were leaking inside the turbo, hence the white smoke (which smelled sweet like coolant) and this seized up the actuator inside the body and stopped it functioning and hindered the turbo operation. Hopefully its sorted the problem.

The mouse one is the Premium Nav which has a better Pioneer 8 speaker audio system, connected services so will get traffic info over the internet if you pair with your phone, and the reversing camera has guidelines that move with the steering wheel. The premium system also has the option to be upgraded to the ML system which has high quality amp and speakers. Look for Mark Levinson written next to the CD slot. The standard system is 6 speaker, and the reversing camera only has guidelines that show where the vehicle will go when you are on full-lock.

Hey Everyone, I hope you are all well? I was at the launch of the Ford Mach-E earlier this week and I was surprised at the features the car has. It is priced from just over £40k and the one on display was nearly £60k (seems like a lot of money for a Ford). I liked the door mechanisms but the interior quality felt like focus/mondeo (that I previously owned couple years ago). It has a huge tesla screen but I wasn't left loving it. For the money I would definitely choose a RX450h, can't wait until Lexus decide to launch electric models in the coming years. Well at last got to drive a Camry, and tbh was very disappointed. It was pretty new 30k miles, and very bland. It is probably typical Toyota in that it will do squillions of trouble free miles, but I was not at all inspired and did not find it very comfortable. Did longish journey of about 300 miles across Aussie outback, got 40 ish to the gallon, but not a particularly pleasant or relaxing car. Because I have been away from my LS430 since mid Jan, I kept comparing, but of course there is no comparison in ride quality, or for that matter build quality. Ironically both myself and wife enjoyed the Holden. Got another car next week for 5 days so will see what that is. Cheers, Roger

Well this morning I went to check my oil and top up the windscreen washers. I noticed a plastic cap was off the small reservoir on the rear nearside of the radiator which I then realised was the engine coolant reservoir. This was completely empty. Rang Lexus Cheltenham who advised topping it up (took 1pint to half fill). Quick trip to Cheltenham car checked and no sign of leaking but reservoir now nearly full. Strongly suspect that 4 weeks ago when car at dealers for replacement grill component the cap was not fitted back properly when the front of the car was removed. The tank isn't pressurised so some water may have been lost, but apparently the cold level is normally only just above the minimum line and there may have been air in the system after the water pump was replaced last year. As usual Cheltenham Lexus Service was excellent.

Biggest excesses are for my Mercedes, £250 compulsory + £150 voluntary. All other combined excesses are lower. Last year I got a great deal on the MX-5 from the Co-op:- premium£150 (= their minimum) less £50 of Co-op food vouchers for being a new customer = Nett £100.

I think he's probably really proactive when it comes to adverts, especially adverts advertising duff cars!

Be aware there is also a sensor on the rear suspension so check that also. John.

Ignore ' the above '. There is some kind of element of 'fixation' ..so bad he went out and purchased one with the same power unit after years of slagging it off Stockholm syndrome ? I owned an IS200t for two years. Its an extremely capable car for its class. As per the review you just linked it is one of the smoothest 4 pots out there that also comes with legendary Lexus reliability and build quality. If you stuck it up against its immediate competitors for the years it was on sale in the UK it was bang up there, 0-60 in 6.1 if thats your thing, extremely smooth engine and pretty decent economy. There was a suspicion of throttle lag but it was never an issue to me in sports mode. It's been addressed in later models. I thoroughly enjoyed my ownership and would have no hesitation in recommending the same power plant in the IS. I did back to backs with an IS250 at the same dealership ( a car that I'd previously driven for several months as a loaner) and the IS200t didn't let itself down so much so I bought one. Expect some kind of tirade to follow this post.

Not the fault of the dealership. Their insurers set the criteria and many now penalise the over 75s and even refuse the over 90s. The dealer did what he could and provided excellent service

At long last my Lexus is back home.😂 The body shop called this morning to say they were short staffed, and could they come and collect me to drive the car home. I actually thought this was better than it being delivered because it gave me the chance to check everything out on the drive back. The car looked in show room condition when I collected it being valeted, and fully machined polished. The drive home was pure pleasure driving in near silence, with instant throttle response, and smooth ride. The repair work is excellent with near perfect color match, and texture. I will post pictures when "or if" it stops raining. I have managed to arrange an MOT on Monday at my usual MOT garage so I will be only one day late with the MOT. The DVLA have taxed the car for one year even though it only had 24 hours of valid MOT. John.

Thanks Peter. Interestingly, I too bought my Company car when I retired 15 years ago now, and yesterday it passed its annual M.O.T. but with a number of advisories. None serious but all will require continued investment on my part. My aggregate mileage is now 247,000 over its 17 years since first registration giving an average annual mileage of only 14,500 ,some way behind you.

I have today.New Yuasa 12V Aux battery fitted by me. My 2015 Lexus CT200h Aux battery was flakey, I needed a jump start from a friend. Just enough to boot the computers to start the car. The aux battery is charged from the Hybrid battery via a DC to DC buck converter ie 210V DC to approx 14.5V DC to charge the aux battery. I added a direct connection to my new Aux battery, to be able to charge in car downtime, using NOCO Genious 2 charger. A NOCO spade connector adaptor connected directly to my new aux battery. I can now easily connect my NOCO Genius 2 charger directly to the aux battery. I find owning a car without an alternator and starter motor a new experience. I have now read up on hybrid cars and how they work. Very interesting.

Thanks, but this defeats the point, which is I suspects thieves would cut it out before realising it's fake. I think the only realistic option is this (or a garage and never park in public!!).

Driving a hybrid, with a 'thrashy' ECVT gearbox is quite different to normal/conventional engines plus you don't get the usual oomph that a diesel gives you. However, stick the CT200h in Sport mode and it's nippy and fun, as it is gliding around town in near silent electric mode. It's very effective at motorway cruising and allows for a less stressful drive overall, I feel. A test drive is a must. And, ignore the professional reviews; I was so put off the CT due to such biased negativity and then started listening to the owners who are far more real in their reviews. Let us know how you get on. 😊

when i had a CT it would return in the region of 63mpg or 100km per gallon (4.55 ltr's / gallon) this would be a mixture of motorways and local roads have a good test drive of one first then make place your deposit down.
