  1. I emailed customer support and was told I could have the full users manual and the Nav. manual for free, which I immediately requested and two days later both arrived in the post!

  2. No offence to Stu above but I wouldn't go with his suggestion because when I did, I couldn't find any local locksmiths and/or key cutters to cut it. They all refused saying their machines had been damaged in the past by these very hard "eBay specials" as they called them. So I used this guy instead and can highly recommend him. Still an eBay trader, but he cuts the blank himself from either your key code if you have it, or a photo if you haven't.

  3. I thought it might be time for an update on my LX600h. Some of those with good memories will remember that I bought this from Lexus Stoke around 18 months ago. It is a 2008 model and had 100k on the clock when I bought it. It had a full Lexus service history which I am determined to maintain. The dealership included a 3 year warranty in the purchase price. It went for its second major service yesterday having just clocked over 130k miles (around 11k since the last service). A grand total of c. £120 was spent on a pair of windscreen wipers (for the MOT) and a service of the air conditioning system (due to the car's age and part of the normal schedule). Not bad for one year's motoring! The car was cleaned and fully valeted as part of the service. It looks brand new but sadly too dark to photograph now. The previous service at 120k was a little pricier with one major piece of the exhaust system that needed replacing. I'm looking forward to another 18 months of motoring and then will take stock and see whether I will be selling this car or carrying one with it for a longer period of time. Difficult decisions but I'm very, very happy with my LS600h and the accompanying ownership experience at Lexus Stoke. First class in every aspect.

  4. Simple - just fit the wheels from your old LS400 - at least there will be no problems if or when the cold and wintry conditions arrive. I was hoping to source some better ones but it seemed a shame to waste my old spare set of alloys which fit and have a set of almost brand new winters on them.

  5. This reminds me of the story my parents told me. They shared a house with another couple around 1955 and my Dad and the other chap rebuilt an Austin A40 Somerset engine on the kitchen table much to the annoyance of the ladies.

  6. Wow, they never even looked good on the LS!

  7. I don't think there's anything else you need to do with the bumper off, apart from maybe a good clean. Did you find it easy enough to remove?

  8. It is in the service schedule ( Every 12 Mths/10,000 Miles) to ‘Rotate Tyres’ but only on models with same size wheels/tyres all round ( Note 2) Can’t be done on my 250!

  9. Thanks Herbie - I'll take a look. It's parked right up against a wall which could make things interesting....

  10. I wonder whether it worth someone getting hold of a set of flaps and trying DIY to fit. My be a bit of cutting somewhere may be. I'm really getting annoyed that such a provision is made by Lexus, especially in a country as wet as ours.

  11. Agree, the very local locksmith in our town did some considerable sucking of teeth and told me I'd be lucky to find someone to cut it before pointing me in the direction of the locksmith that did, in my nearest city! So your suggestion does sound a better route.

  12. Thanks for the recommendation Herbie, I may well use that seller. It all looks good. We've been out to walk the dog this morning, there was no juddering that the OH reported, but perhaps a slight wheel bearing rumble. We haven't used the parking brake so perhaps will use it one evening to test the following morning. What beautiful weather today! Perfect for car cleaning. Unfortunately I have 3 to do if that's the case...

  13. Who would have thought that wheels (alloys) would make such a difference to the car's look !

  14. I feel your pain but needs must. I've got the old 16" winters from my first gen IS on my GS. Makes me grind my teeth every time I look at it. (Sorry @gdh300) But like you I thought it would be silly to buy an alternative when they were just sat there. I also know that if I weakened and took them off that would be the cue for some slippy stuff.

  15. Thanks Glynn / Lee I knew the option wheels could be swapped side to side, didn't know about the bladed wheels, makes sense now 👍

  16. Lexus will charge you the earth. I bought one of these blanks off ebay (£2.25) and got a local key cutter (they must have a lazer cutting machine) to cut the blade from the old one (£10) You just pop the transponder in from the old key and job done. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-BUTTON-KEY-FOB-CASE-for-LEXUS-RX400H-SC430-RX300-IS200-300-GS300-short-Blade/283544136765?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

  18. No, budget well blown. cost me £14.5k A long term buy. Saved for 10 years and had 40th birthday last year so treated myself! Bought from Toyota as felt more security than private. James.

  19. I fixed the problem of the motor wipers... the cable that attaches to the thing in the first pic broke off and got wound around the motor, stopping it from moving. my wipers seem to be acting normally at every speed, despite the fact that this isn't attached anymore. I've attached a picture of where the location is and the cable that was previously attached

  21. I have found this to be an effective alarm. Very user friendly, not affected by power cuts or weather, doesn't need setting and resets automatically.😁

  22. Hi all, Apologies if this has been posted already (I didn't see it anywhere) but a somewhat interesting article appeared on Pistonheads today: https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-buying-guides/lexus-ls400---shed-buying-guide/41635 No surprise that the general consensus is buy one while you still can

  23. Mine is rubbing on full lock, no real noise but it's only because the previous owner put 245s on the front.. soon to be changed though

  24. +1 on getting this god awful noise on full lock at slow speed, so much so that I now turn left out of my house and never right, as the angle of the road causes this to happen and I’d rather drive around the block an extra 200 yards than hear that!
