First impressions of the '07 99k LS600h L RSR I bought 2 Jan '20, as compared to my GS450h bought Feb2019. The former's long-wheel base and air-suspension and quiet running and superlative surround-sound audio, all compare very well to a friend's 1980's Rolls Royce (w/LPG for sane mileage). However, I"m conscious when driving the LS600h that it's a 5,000lbs machine whereas the '08 73k GS450h is more of a driver's car and feels younger than the LS. I won't sell the GS. As for the '03 75k SC430, it's in a class of its own and compares well to a 2012 M-B SL350 I drove a couple of years ago. I need to replace the SC430's bass door speakers. Can anyone advise if it's simpler to bring originals back from the USA on my next holiday? The nearside folding mirror won't retract back to the body any longer, after moving a bit: any ideas? Thank you for any help.

i have a 2016 F sport. No issues with it since i purchased it in May last year. Online history did note a recall that i was not aware of. It was done before i picked it up. Have pasted below. The Lexus brand including the ls400 as met emission criteria of the State of Califoria since its inception and that criteria is the highest in the world a lot of the vehicles built in europe and sold in Britain during the 80's and nineties would not have met the criteria and even some that were built in the 2000's would not. I once had a ignorant neighbour accuse me of owning a highly polluting car until I pointed out that is 1.6 litre kia was a bigger pollution emitter than my mark1 4 litre Lexus.

P0125 code is insufficient engine temperature detected to switch to closed loop mode. The ecu has exceeded the wait period for the engine to get warm enough to go closed loop. So you're effectively running in cold engine mode. Like running with the choke on all the time. Fix that issue first so the engine management goes into closed loop mode and uses the oxygen sensors to check the mixture. You can't look at the lean running issue until the engine management goes into closed loop mode. Insufficient engine temp could be a bad or disconnected coolant temperature sensor. Or there could be no coolant getting to the sensor to warm it up. A simple OBD2 reader will give a live reading of engine temp. A broken sensor may read low, or get to a certain temp and stop increasing. You'd have to check to see which it is.

Hello again after a long absence of about 6 years Had a few GS300 cars over the years but got rid of the last one as i purchased a Porsche 944 track car and needed to tow it to my local circuit. Best advice i could get for fitting a towbar and oilcooler was close to 3 grand so the Lexus had to go and did i miss it. Now well retired and not wanting a big cruiser any more i was stuck for what to buy. I do not like modern cars as they all look alike and are boring so what do you get if you want to be a bit different? What could be more different than a Lexus sc430 with everything you could wish for fitted as standard, a style all of its own and a big V8 that burbles along.. Brilliant. Its a black 2005 model ( cheapish tax) and everything works as is the norm with Lexus. Only thing needed is the spare wheel cover in light grey so if anyone has one for sale please email me on peasoup39@hotmail.com I look forward to reading and contributing to the forum in the future peasoup39

I hope not. I really do want to be able to consider a new model IS in around 3.5 years. Nothing wrong with SUVs if that's what you want. But I just don't.

Went out for a spin yesterday to test the phone/slot mount combo. All went very well. No undue wobbling, Ergonomics for eye from road to phone and back to road timing (to check the phone app speed limits) were good. The phone stayed put. The mount gripped it tightly, even over the Whittlesey level crossing, which anyone who has taken it at 40mph will know is well bumpy. I'll give the cdslotmount a double tick VG. I've got a 320 mile round trip to the South Coast planned before the end of the month which should give it a fuller test. I shall report back!

I’m 6’1” and know what you mean although I’ve had much worse in other cars (Fiat). For me I have the seat all the way back, wheel pulled all the way out and up a bit (not quite as high as it goes) and base of the seat nearly but not all the way down. My knees are then more behind the wheel than hitting it.

The extended warranty is probably the best in the business for cost vs benefits. The way to look at it is that really it's insurance. We all have car insurance and home insurance to name just two, and we all hope that we never need to make claims on them - it's for peace of mind as much as anything. My RX has LED headlights and they are a sealed unit. If one LED goes it can't be replaced individually, the whole unit has to be replaced at over £800. Imagine the cost of, say, an inverter/converter unit - well over a grand I'd imagine, perhaps closer to two. Plus you get full Lexus Breakdown cover (provided by the AA and including European cover and Homestart) for you and your partner, for any car you're travelling in, and MOTs too, all in the cost of the two-for-one extended warranty. The warranty itself is great value in my opinion, it's the requirement to have servicing done at the main dealers that kills me as I'm used to paying mates rates for servicing.

Picked up my CT200H F-Sport yesterday. I'm 6' 2" and have found it a very comfortable place to be in.

Hi Alan, Just had a quick look at my car. The rubber I used is roughly 10mm x 10mm x 10mm. I think I used a bit cut from an exhaust O-ring but anything with a bit of pliability should work. Dec.

I'm a tad over 6'1" and have no issues other than sometimes with my left shin. I have my seat as low as it goes. Mine is an Advance Plus.

Thought I'd close this discussion by giving my findings. I took the coil out and wished I had examined it myself when the mechanic switched it. The sleeve shows heat damage (picture attached). Also, I went ahead with getting hold of a used 90919-02255. Been using it ever since. Works great. I don't drive much but on occasion I do long drives. Went to Amsterdam and back without any issues. I like the 90919-02255 construction better, the sleeve feels stronger. Anyway, worth the mention. Cheers. PS Checked with the garage I'm using for the Lexus and they say they use aftermarket coils and not had a problem with them. They are trade only so I can't buy them directly, but they did quote circa £40 for one.

Aren't imports always £265? Something like that I'm sure. I know that when I browse 8s and 6s and look at post-06 cars that would be normally be £550+ the Jap imports are £265 eg post-06 XC90 with the Yamaha V8. Some people are idiots. My dad once had someone having a go about the number of vehicles he had. My dad replied "But I don't drive them all at once".

Didn't like the Dunlops my RX came with and very pleased with Crossclimates fitted this year, including sound level.

I have not had head up display on any vehicle before but like this option very much so would always want this on any further vehicle if an option. I set the display just above the bottom of the screen and do not find it disconcerting. I find I can't see it with my normal sun glasses on which are the darkest permitted for drivers according to my Optician, so I have had to get some that are not quite so dark. There are after market HUD units which are placed on the dash and project onto the screen but I can't say how good these are or how suitable for the RX. I just use my HUD for speed awareness but if you use the Lexus SatNav this is also shown on the screen but I much prefer my TomTom. The LED's are very good on the RX but I am led to believe you have to replace the complete headlamp at considerable cost in the event of failure.. Don't know if you can just replace the bulb on the Xenons so an aspect you might check on. I would say the LED's on my RX are marginally better than the Xenons on my BMW which do have replaceable bulbs but you need somebody with experience of both types on RX models. (It's not just a matter of brightness but pattern and coverage). As regards MPG, this has been extensively covered in a thread within the last 14 months. In, short there are many factors that affect MPG,one of the biggest being the duration of normal driving and how much of this is on motorways and in town. Best I have seen is 37 on a long easy run in summer. Used only for a round trip of 3 miles to supermarket in winter it shows about 19.7 which soon improves on longer journeys. If you do 10,000 mpa I would say an overall average figure of about 30mpg would not be far out for most people. Certainly worth carefully checking alloys where some report probs. Mine are fine on my 2015 3rd Gen RX.

Our old CT200 changed to a rev counter in sport mode, my RX doesn't however. Meaningless with a CVT transmission anyway.

The car is back, feels livelier, quieter in cabin, no ticking on cold start up, no ticking while driving from cold (could hear ticking in normal driving when cold 2-2500rpm) inside cabin, Bill is attached along with parts required and a couple of photos of the old units, they reckon the formation should of been....weld, flange, weld, flange......as weld, flange, flange, weld has put excessive stress on last branch, would be interesting to know if Lexus altered the weld, flange set up on the latter cars as the issue seems to mainly affect early ones, £1200 poorer but a happier poorer now its purring

The Big centre armrest in the front of my car has an annoying creak when leant on. Today I took a look at it and realised that the 2 catches either side of the lid seemed to be the cause. A quick search in the garage found a pack of small self adhesive backed felt pads One either side of the lid next to the catches and hopefully all is sorted.

Very nice car & welcome to the club. I’ve got the Quicksilver fitted which is a bargain relative to the valved systems but is worth every penny. Hardly use the sound system as too busy finding an excuse to listen to the exhaust note.😆

As per Paul's advice, a small piece of rubber pressed in between the top centre of the dash and the base of the windscreen sorted this problem for me. Dec.

There was a Lexus recall/TSB fix for dash rattle in the early years of this car. Do a search on here, one fix was a rubber piece tucked in between dash top and bottom of windscreen in the middle.

Well i think you have found you're fault. Only noise i have herd of from dash, has been a rattly speaker on Is 250.

A far simpler swap would be GS450h brakes, which are also 4-pots and bolt right up to an IS. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

When you have an hour to spare, read this thread... it's possible that the membrane behind your rear door card has been messed with or a door seal gone etc... but water will settle at lowest point, so wherever you are experiencing water, the rear boot of the RX is probably the source because it can run from the boot into the cabin...see my write up below. So....I was aware of the RX leak problems before I purchased my RX300 last month which indeed came with wet rear footwell carpets. The history showed Lexus had already had a go at fixing water ingress in 2014 swapping out the rear light gaskets. I tested sunroof drains, they were OK and clear, sealed up boot lid hinge plate bolts... I stripped out the rear boot floor/plastic trays etc. I sat in the boot of the car when it rained and watched water seeping in along the seams at back under boot lip exactly as per pictures on the last page of the above thread posted in March 2018 by 'Steve.ch'. No water came in from rear lights, so that was one possible ticked off the list. Looking in the stripped out boot, I could see how water coming in could find it's way to the cabin carpets via gaps on each side of the 3 or 4 inch high crossbeam/bulkhead running just behind the rear seats. I had an idea!!!! I wanted to have a go at fixing the leaks in time, but I wanted dry carpets much quicker than that. So, a 'managed coastal erosion' kind of thing sprung to mind. I filled the gaps each end of the crossbeam/bulkhead with expanding foam, once dry, I sealed over with bathroom silicone sealant which I also ran along the seams the of crossbeam and in it's holes. My aim was to prevent water reaching the cabin from the boot. Secondly, there are several small rubber grommets covering 5mm-ish holes in several places in the boot floor. I removed these, now water can come and go as it likes without wetting the carpets. I put everything back together and dried out the rear carpets as much as possible with swapping over towels with weights on them to sponge up the water... I also had an 8 hour drive to do over Xmas, so did this with heating on full aimed at the floor, sunroof open to vent the moisture (luckily no rain) It's worked... the rear carpets are dry even after heavy rain. I can lift out the plastic trays and see only a cup full of water accumulates at the back of the boot after rain (our drive has a slope and I park rear down... old habit from the LS) before it runs out of the holes.... and now after the long drive, with no rain, the boot is bone dry because it's also getting ventilation via the opened grommet holes. I might get round to fixing the actual source of the leak, but no rush now!

I think when it comes to second hand cars the less previous owners a car has the better or less problems one is likely to encounter but this is not always the case. full service history is always is must and nothing wrong with a £5000 Lexus 460 its just to do with age, depreciation and demand so long as it has had 1 or possibly two previous owners, has had a full service history and MOT history looks good then i see nothing wrong. of course main hing like engine and gearbox needs to also be in good condition with signs of no leak or shift problems. of course being a 2007/2008 which makes it 11-12 years old with over 100,000 miles on the clock will definitely need things like suspension parts and radiator needing replacing due to wear and tear as these parts are for most part engineered to last at least 10 years or up to 100,000 miles. this does not apply to all car brands but i noticed most Japanese cars are engineered this way. for example: i always hear most people say spending something like say £1k or £2k changing or fixing up a second hand car worth say £2 or £3k is waste and its throwing money away as you wont make it back when you come to sell it on. but i see people spend £25k or £35k on a PCP or PCH finance and they never get to own the car. is that not throwing even more money away? i see it like this, if you like the 460 and its in good condition by all means budget for the likelihood of changing suspension parts and get the radiator changed as a precaution even if it sets you back another £2K - £3K... it will drive better and give you a better experience than majority of 2019 luxury cars on the road today..

Bear in mind Fsport with leather seats also come with electric memory drivers seat, they are heated and ventilated, has electric steering column adjustment, folding mirrors with dipping mirror in reverse and comfort access ( seats and steering wheel move back on entry/exit). It was a £2k option new and well worth having over std seats as a used car. Also, you will only get a reversing camera if an Fsport has Nav fitted. the later 2014/15 cars had improved interior trim, not the hard black scratch prone stuff on the earlier cars. Make sure the alloys are good as kerbing damage is a bugger to fix due to the paint finish on Fsport wheels.

I have a 10 year old and a 18 year old . According to there personal interior redesign of my 300H there seems to be plenty of room for there Mc Donalds wrappings and dropped fries / half chewed sweets and wrappers in the door close pockets / I pads and phones on charge constantly from the USB ports 2X wires hanging out the centre console /and some CD's from some Kanye West bloke ??? And plenty of room in the front passenger seat for a (YOU'RE GOING TO FAST SLOW DOWN) Person, A.K.A the boss lady. Boot space is good for a couple big duffle bags and lots of other junk you drag along on a get away holiday for a week . I'm going up Scotland for a holiday next month 800+ miles with all the gear and family , I'll get back to this post if it's still live and let you know how I get on PS I love my IS 300H best Lexus i've had so far.... ....Does anyone know how to turn off the (YOU'RE GOING TO FAST SLOW DOWN) Lady ???...
