  8. You will have seen from other threads that the NX300h typically gives 37 to 40 mpg overall on mixed driving. Over 3000 miles you will have learned how to drive the hybrid so you do seem to be getting a poor result. Have you read the hybrid driving guide? How have you measured the mpg? Brim-to-brim tank fills or from the on-board computer? Do you do a lot of motorway driving at 80+ mph? Is the engine warming up properly? I see that you are in Lanarkshire. Lower temperatures can reduce mpg summer to winter by about 3mpg anyway. There are a lot of factors involved so let's eliminate some first.

  10. Indeed it is. It's the car that was sold by BCA at the end of November. SK10 ZXU and was in a sorry state. Interesting that a main dealer now has it. I am planing on viewing it, as it's only 30mins up the road from where I live.

  11. Firstly is the dealer warranty a Lexus warranty. That is what you need, it is first class and can be extended for a reasonable cost. Check it out Bank loans can be really cheap at the moment, so check that out. IS300h are extremely reliable. Water pump weeping is a common Toyota issue. I had one changed on my GS300h under Warranty, but was told otherwise it is a £300 job. I have owned both IS300h and GS300h and with the miles you are doing I would try both. If anything my 2015 GS300h was more economical than my 2014 IS300h F sport. Both are good reliable cars and unlikely to give problems even at starship mileage. Check the bodywork carefully. Lexus approved cars should be tip top, but the dealers try and get away with slapdash preparation, out of 4 cars purchased in 3 years from 2 different Maindealers 3 of them have required cosmetic body repairs. Don't forget 31st December is end of the quarter and that is the time to play hardball for a great deal.

  12. Hi, IS 200t 2016 model here, HID headlights. When I purchased the car I was very unsatisfied with the lights at night, especially because I drive fast. So I have tried a couple of upgrades, and only when I got the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited D4S, I was really happy and confident to drive fast as I like at night. Now there is the Osram Nightbreaker Laser version which should be a bit more powerful and whiter. What I wanted to share is that only with these light bulbs and clean headlights I am confident in driving fast at night. Stock bulbs are crap.

  14. Agree @dutchie01 They capture the reason for the existence of the ES. If you want a sports car, go elsewhere. If you want a relaxed drive in a beautifully made environment, buy a Lexus. Leave BMW and Audi to those that feel they need the 'prestige' of their badge for some reason. Personally I'm happy not to own a brand lusted over by regional sales managers for photocopier companies with marble Lions outside their mock Tudor new build houses...😆

  17. Fingers crossed that nothing's actually broken, just a bit siezed up. I think it may be a good idea to run the tank down low a few times and then ( as above) use hot ( not boiling!) water to fill so perhaps cleaning any moving parts that ain't (moving) Also Don't be tempted to use say Fairy Liquid or any other type of 'kitchen' soap as it tends to congeal and clog up the built in filter that protects the pump/jet outlets.

  18. Richie, I bought a cheap one (about £12) off eBay for my 98 GS and it was absolutely fine. Unusually I had to take the motor but apart to remove a broken bit of belt but that was straightforward. John

  26. Big Rat has owned both. Seem to recall the message was you know where to come if you want reliability as mileage increases and it ain't the German one. The reason you feel like that about your RCF is cos nothing beats an ISF 😁

  28. Your garage sounds extremely honest so fair play to them. My guess is the front discs have done 65K and the car being a bit of a lump its probably that time. The rear discs probably have a few years left in them. Most indies wont allow you to buy brake components and ask them to fit (they prefer to buy themselves ) due to obvious safety reasons, however you can always steer them in the right direction with prices. Having owned an IS200 for many years these are simply consumables but done properly should last another 5 years, rarely as much as the originals but enough to give you peace of mind.

  29. Normally, faults that bear no relation to each other, for a specific code, point to bad ground connections. Trouble codes that are cleared and return immediately are permanent indicating short or open circuits relevant to the code in question. At this instance, I would make certain that all ground connectons have an almost zero resistance to the 12v battery negative terminal. A ground connection wire is connected to all the car's Ecu and you must find it and check itq. A 5v reference voltage is established at the car's circuit which is used for signal purposes and data collection from the various sensors. Each Ecu sends and receives 5v pulses for various purposes. Make sure this reference voltage is available and stabilised. Refer to the circuit diagrams of the car to identify the ground, 5v reference voltage and all relevant sensors qwiring connections pertaining to the codes in question. Sometimes by pulling out the multipin connectors to the various Ecu and reconnecting them will improve contact resistance. Good luck!

  30. For reasons that I am trying to forget reversed into my mountain bike parked in my garage during a downpour. Result is a minor scratch @ the base of the rear bumper that easily satisfies the criteria as listed in the Inchcape Cosmetic Repair description.of minor damage I would post a picture but it is still raining heavily. My question is has anyone used this service? Thanks Tel
