  1. It was great going down to Beaulieu with other Lexus F members on here. Nice to finally meet other members and good to see David again. There were 2 RCFs, 3 ISFs and believe it or not 4 GSFs on site 😁 Cezar and Kieran definitely lead the pack with their insane GTHaus bazookas. Davids red RCF got quite abit of attention while it was there with the aftermarket wheels on they look stunning and the super clean paint made the state of mine a shame 😂

  3. Here's a photo of our arrival at the pitch. Great day and nice to meet up with many members. Those GT Haus exhausts look so good particular on the GSF with titanium tips but the sound is outrageously loud.

  4. Apologies but I took very few photos of our F's, I took a quick few on arrival. Apologies to those not in the photo, I was admiring the 'Red, White, Blue' dynamic in the sunshine!!!

  5. imo it is a slightly better ride and it is nice to have the "magic " sport button on the steering wheel!! Dab radio is good also. But it is hard to improve on such a brilliant car anyway.

  6. With over 4 months and many miles under its wheels, I'm beginning to get a good feel for it. It's by no means a classic petrol head's car, but it's certainly technically impressive and has a lot of interesting quirks. I thought I'd take a few pics during some idle moments, to help show what I mean. The outside doesn't take your breath away, but there are certainly some unusual exterior design details: As is the way with hybrids, total peak power is less than the sum of its parts at 134hp. Nonetheless, I think it can be impressive for short bursts in "Sport" mode as all the battery's torque is available straight away. Equally, it can feel more lethargic in eco modes. Each of the 3 modes gives quite different driving characteristics, much more distinctively so than in ICE-only cars. It feels like a car with between 75 and 200hp depending on which it's in. The front Lexus badge incorporates a Magic eye; part of the optional "Lexus Safety System+". This comprises: a pre-collision system, adaptive cruise, lane assist, auto high beam and road sign reading. The pack is only now standard on the most recent cars and is worthwhile IMO as it's rare on mid-to-compact cars: The interior is very comfy and of high quality (apologies for misaligned steering wheel!). The fabric, plastics and other materials are akin to what you'd find in much more expensive cars: ...but the mirror console is an example of some over-complicated controls: I also find the parking brake an unusual feature, but one I got used to quickly: The gear selector is more intuitive, but much less mechanical in feel to use than a conventional auto shifter. Underneath is an e-CVT gearbox, which - as we know - is different from a classic CVT but gives you an idea of how it works. The "B" refers to a more aggressive motor braking mode, simulating engine braking - and can be used to recharge the battery quickly through coasting, but I rarely use it. Two rotary dials below (in the centre console) control display and driving modes respectively. The dash display changes according to mode selected. This is in "eco", which dulls the accelerator pedal response and increases use of the battery (the EV icon denotes that only the battery is being used): The central display can be configured to show a range of different things. This one is for the hybrid system and shows what it's doing at any given time: Outside again... the rear hatch has a massive spoiler and the bumper below incorporates some aero details: Given that there's a battery under there somewhere, I think the amount of space in the rear is pretty decent: The air intake in the driver's side door aperture aids battery pack cooling - another of this car's more unusual features: The overall driving experience is wearing well, perhaps because it's so serene and different from anything else I've had before. Dropping the windows on country lanes reveals a novel range of quite pleasant battery and electric motor noises at low speeds, before the engine kicks in as needed. I'm learning how to drive most effectively, using Prius tips - which is effectively what this is. The "pulse and glide" technique involves accelerating briskly, before lifting off and letting the battery maintain momentum. With this now practised in use and some help from the adaptive cruise control on motorways, I'm getting between 55-65mpg overall. Urban mpg is generally close-to, or at, the average. On a longer 4-500-mile run that I've done over quite some years with work (mainly M'way, with some urban and country roads thrown in), I would see close to 35mpg from my old Golf R32, about 40mpg from anything VAG 2.0T and 60mpg from my old Volvo V60 D5. Hire cars with weedy petrol or diesel engines are in a similar range of 40-60mpg, showing little benefit for the drop in performance. And, so, from the CT200h? Drumroll... Ok - let's call it a real 70mpg. This was achieved with no particular efforts other than using the adaptive cruise control, which I must say is the best I've used - particularly because it senses vehicles in more than one lane and therefore doesn't speed up when a car in front moves into an outside lane. I'm happy because it means I can do the whole trip without needing to refuel...I think they call it "range anxiety" 😉. Unlike a normal ICE-only car, the CT's fuel economy doesn't drop when in stop-start traffic. The battery also assists the engine at motorway speeds, meaning that it's barely ticking over on a cruise and the OBC shows 99.9+mpg regularly. I've also made use of the boot when taking my MTB with me on said work trip: It also has some decent undercover storage: ...before revealing that Prius / Auris battery: All loaded-up: ...and out onto the trails: The only issue with the car so far is a cracking / creaking noise, made during the last moment as it comes to rest. Googling suggests it could be brake pad retainer clips, but it's also present when not braking but steering - so I'd better get back to the dealer at some point. Finally, I previously sullied the good name of this car by saying that its stereo was rubbish. I would like to retract this statement having - ahem - found that the Bluetooth volume setting on my phone was set low. :getmecoat: It's actually a pretty decent stereo and tops off the experience of this car suiting my needs pretty well. I've still much to learn about the car - and that's probably the best bit!

  8. Good to put a face to a name with all those I met. Had prior engagements in the afternoon so was a short lived morning in the sun. I’ll always be up for anything in the future! My leave was mild mannered, other than a quick rev for a young boy filming 😂. I’ll be sure to capture some better clips of the exhaust for all the enjoy 😜

  10. Had a black E60. Once forgot to note where I parked it. Found about 5 of the same in one section of Dundrum shopping centre car park. That said, there is another sonic titanium ES in my area and I've ended up driving behind it 3 times in 2 months. When I ordered mine in Feb, there were around 10 coming into Ireland available for purchase. And that was it for the year. Presume more on the boat were sold.

  12. Having owned 2 Mercedes before my first Lexus I am in no rush to return. Before the Mercedes I had 2 minis. The last one I bought new at the end of 2014 and it was gone 6 months later. Why? Because BMW customer service is abyssmal and the product quality and development poor. Likewise getting a service or warranty work booked with Mercedes is a nightmare. I drive around 30000 miles a year and I don't want to wait a month to get a service or repair because the dealers have insufficient technicians. The reliability and dealer service of the Lexus network is hard to beat. If you don't want another similar Lexus have you considered a high spec Toyota, perhaps the new RAV4..

  15. Well if nothing else, I've ascertained that changing the in-tank pump would take about 10 minutes! Popped it out for a look - hard to tell without dismantling it completely, but what I can see of the filter in the bottom looks fine, and the inside of the tank certainly looks clean. No great surprise given that the car's only done 60,000 miles, mind...

  16. Hi, If it is faulty it can leak while in OFF hecne dropping the pressure. As far I'm aware there is only single pump in a tank. Then it is all plumbing 🙂

  18. Glad to hear it's all been sorted out. I hope Halfords paid the full cost. But if untrained store staff use the recommendation on the Halfords website, they'll still end up selling and perhaps topping up air con gas with the wrong and dangerous product. I've tried putting the model details of a couple of Lexus hybrid cars into the recommendation page and it still comes back with the wrong product. Although the detailed information pages and the products themselves are marked that this product must not be used on hybrid cars, some people may not read that far. They've already had the recommendation from Halfords. Why read further? The staff member you dealt with didn't read what it said on the canister. In fact, they may not have even known what a hybrid car is.

  19. Hi, Filter is in a tank and even if not officially serviceable can get contaminated and can be replaced. There is also relief vale present to avoid too high preasure. Maybe it is faulty and is leaking which leads to too low preasure. Car have dual injectors which mean it can be directly or in-directly injected. As you got issues with both injectors types I would start with a pump in tank and filter.

  20. Thanks for joining in - the moral support is appreciated! The simple answer on fuel pipes is that I don't know. Worth asking Lexus though, I guess... thanks for that. Fuel filter is in theory not a service part - I had the same thought! Could be worth a check though - I believe there's an inspection hatch to get at it relatively easily. Temperature sensor appears ok - all of the readings look normal in the freeze frame data against the fault code in techstream. I don't know how old the battery is, so that had crossed my mind too, however I've not had any issues with it apart from this, and it seems unlikely that it would start going wrong ~30 mins into a journey when up to temperature (and charge). Again the freeze-frame data says a solid 14.2V... Short of just buying a new one though, it's hard to be sure!

  21. Yes it can as long as it’s not wear and tear and has had service within last 12 months. No pre-existing problems. It needs to be something out of the blue... like engine failure or gearbox without any codes or warning prior . Highly unlikely as Ecu logs this.

  22. Hi Jon, sorry to hear that you have trouble...normally the fuel filter would be a good starting point but I believe it's buried within the fuel tank so will not be easy to access. Isn't there a recall on the fuel pipes fracturing at the front of the engine? Yours is an '10 so could well have the later pipes fitted that aren't prone to leaking. Just out of interest, how old is your 12v battery? - I just read some threads with similar issues to you that were resolved by replacing the aux battery. There was also an issue with an engine temperature sensor reading very low, maybe you can read those via an OBD reader? Good luck getting to the bottom of the mystery and do keep us updated on your progress. Fingers crossed.

  23. It's definitely less hassle, in my case it was also a good deal, as the dealer offered a chunk more trade in and bigger discount than Lexus would, plus all the messages I've seen from people looking for cars cited characteristics that my car didn't have, for example sunroof, or mileage or colour etc.. So I decided there was little point in selling it privately..

  24. The 3 really is one of those cars that look better in real life than in photos. We our frist one on holiday in Portugal and it did stand out much more than I thought. The main 'problem' of the 3 is pricing, in particular the 'P' cars, at under £50k with all options you want/need its only £7k more than the list price of our current IS300H, but your getting so much more speed and tech. We did order a SR £37k 3 but than cancelled it, I think I rather wait till we saved up for the £50k 'P' variant. It really is great leveller, performance that only those who could afford and run supercars is now here for everyone to enjoy. The fact once you bought one a 3 second 0-60 Model 3 will actually cost less to run than a BMW 320D is just a donus :).

  25. Keep in mind that CC can be retrofitted fairly easily and cheaply and the leather is not genuine one but faux and is of poor quality. IMO not worth it, was disappointed with it.

  26. If your looking at the 3 series surely you have to look at the Model 3? £30K doesn't quite get you into a Model 3, but its not far off. Tesla have also reduced the price of the 'P' version - so for just under £50K your have something that is just about the quickest thing with 4 wheels you can buy for use on public roads!! It's a jump in the budget but near 3 second 0-60 time is something you have to experience to really understand, that's McLaren F1 quick!1

  28. I have a 2014 (face-lift) Advance Sport with all of those requirements. The Sport bit only added some black wheels and carbon-fibre interior inlays. So my guess is an Advance model will suit. Basically, go for as much kit as you can afford really. Good luck!

  32. Found this in an old post---should be sufficient for your needs as it is in French as well Our ref 637848 16 September 2013 Thank you for your further email. I can confirm that the HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlamps on the RX 350 do not need to be converted for travel on the continent. The set up of the headlamp is such that the light shines in a horizontal flat beam which has no kick up and as such is not dazzling to drivers of oncoming cars. As you have suggested, we would recommend that the Intelligent Adaptive Front-lighting System (I-AFS) is switched off when travelling on the continent. 35. Bunch of nonsense in their website - The gearbox ECU on IS250 is self-learning, if you want remap then just disconnect the battery for 15 min and let it reset. Then drive the way you want and it will set the gearbox accordingly. I have driven mine like stolen for few days and then realised gear changes became very sharp and unsubtle, then had few nice weekend drives just cruising around - got back to buttery smooth. As for the engine - again nonsense. Where they getting that "extra peak power and torque"? It is atmospheric engine, more air and more fuel can make more power, where does extra air comes from? Throttle response I can understand - there is little button in IS250 which says "sport/snow" - it does exactly the same thing - sharpens throttle response. In other hand it is not like throttle response is "laggy" in IS250 - that is the strength of NA v6. And just to prove it is non-sense here is comparison between IS250 and Aston Martin Rapide text In short they just have generic text with "insert" vehicle info of all vehicles 😄
