So after a trip around Europe, through France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Slovenia, its time for the LS400 to go 😞 The car has already been returned to standard but just been to busy to post everything consistently on here. I've gone for a Toyota Chaser, Import due to arrive end of August / beginning of September! Just want to say thanks to all who have inputted, read or enjoyed this thread, and I'd like to upload some pictures of my Wörthersee trip! Thank you3 points

Oh dear. I ask the question why? Surely mankind can do better than this?1 point

It's the opposite in my handbook! Doing as you suggest disables tilt on reverse. Handbook says to select either left or right to enable the auto tilt function. @Shada, have you actually set a position for the tilt on reverse?1 point

Interesting that Lexus use a replaceable filter element rather than a self contained cartridge. Haven't seen one of those for decades. I even converted my 1958 sports car to the cartridge system about 10 years ago. Anyone know about the pros and cons?1 point

Denso hybrid blades are so very quiet and sweep much better than what my vehicle came with. I'll definitely buy them again.1 point

initially i used to buy Lexus / Toyota wiper rubbers and they lasted very very well, about 3/4 years and 30/40k miles This last set lasted less than a year............ . and about £28 ? so the simple option was to have my indy, who has been looking after my Ls400s for 12 years now, use his own cheapo supplied wiper rubbers ..... about £8.50 at the last service in May ......... they are doing well and if they only last the year then that's fine by me I think buying the OEM from Lexus/Toyota just might be quite ancient stock to specifically fit my 1995 car Malc1 point

It's fairly common knowledge nowadays that idling a car from cold to optimum temperature does more damage to the engine. Idling should be no more than 30 seconds, then it needs to be driven off as the oil has circulated around essential components in that time and will then warm up much quicker than being idled. Most automotive oils are synthetic and show resistance to thickening at even -40 degrees and the viscosity of oil in Lexus vehicles is usually 0W-20 Warming up a car is outdated and not recommended. It's even written in the manual. It goes back to an age when cars had carburettors.1 point

Direct fit Denso blades for me from ECP when they have 50% off, works out at about £16 for the pair. Made in Japan.1 point

I have Lexus fit new blades approx every 6 months. They perform perfectly, clear screen, minimum noise..1 point

The problem is that its propulsion system isn't advanced enough. It's very much in a similar price bracket to the kia e-niro which is much more advanced, significantly faster, way more refined and is more practical in terms of cabin space and boot space. Yes, you'd hope and expect that the Lexus is better built and with higher quality materials, but given the warranty on the Kia it's not likely to prove problematic. The rumoured UX300e can not come fast enough.1 point

Spróbuj znaleźć dobry garaż i poproś o sprawdzenie1 point

As half of the engine is dead I would focus of thinks like: - timing chain -vvt actuator - check for any error codes I’m not sure how fuel lines and air ducts are designed but if those split somewhere for left and right bank I would check those too. Anyway if you don’t know where to start troubleshooting I doubt you will fix it by yourself. Try to find good garage and ask them to check1 point

Just a thought. The RX is a long range cruiser. Surely the idea is to enjoy the luxury and the size . If you have to worry about the fuel and mpg so much, why buy one in the first place?1 point

So these are the pics off auto trader before I purchased her and that’s why I call it the Texus prodject, as it has LS badges on already, but with the Toyota steering wheel, Toyota wheel centre caps, and the obvious Toyota engine badge, not to mention all the Japanese everywhere, Hence why I got the car the price for cheaper than list. I know at one point they did import the Toyotas and re badge them as Lexus so they could put the price higher, but judging by this effort it looks self made. And hiding the numberplate something I’ve always done out of habit really. True that it doesn’t really make much difference as it’s easy to check with the DVLA checker now but I’m always cautious about cloning number plates, you just never know.1 point

Malc You should never place your reg number on social media there are people out there who will use it for criminal activity.1 point

It's not a topic related to lab tests, the main reason (and not the only one) because hybrids make good mpg is regenerative braking, every time you need to diminish your speed kinetic energy is recovered and stored in HV battery pack to be used later on instead of being wasted, so even a unaware of hypermiling techniques driver may obtain better mpg.1 point

Hi all, my local indi was getting old so I decided to go to main dealership and I have to Lexus Teeside has been really good I cannot fault them.1 point

@Juicedrinker - I have use Lexus dealerships, not as much because they are great, but because I have found their price to be quite reasonable. The only thing which stands outs with Lexus is that these cars are unbelievably reliable, which makes dealers look more competent, car simply don't go wrong and there are not as much to look after. Equally, the customer is always happier when simply paying what it says on the service plan instead of splashing £800 on top of service price for all million parts which has failed between services like the case on some other makes. In terms of service, Sales are very sweet - but are we really surprised about that? Trying to rip you off by £40-80k of your hard earned cash they really need to be "sweet". Although, from my experience with BMW and Volvo sales - Lexus is certainly better, more caring and listening... well unless you say you are not really into 300h, then conversation kind of ends, because Lexus do not have any other mainstream offer apart of 300h in every model. The after-sales/service department is mediocre at best, I personally quite disappointed with them, but again for the price they are doing alright. They have miss-serviced my car in the past as all other makes services does. I mean Audi managed to forget to screw in drain plug on my mates Audi Q7 and I am sure we have heard all kinds of similar stories on internet. Car dealership services are not better than any other service networks, they just work under the dealership so you might expect more consistent service and them being more familiar with particular makes quirks. I would suggest you try different dealer if you have one nearby - they all work on franchises and some are significantly better then others.1 point
