So my search is over! I'm now the proud owner of this car 😁 Credit goes to Mark who has added some really nice, subtle mods and kept the car in great condition. I'm going to spend the next few weeks getting used to it and enjoying it. Not got any major plans for it in the future.. nothing is needed! Looking forward to attending some events too. Cheers, Nick4 points

if you have doubts about the soundness of your battery ( and a failing battery can throw all sorts of weird and wonderful seemingly unconnected faults at you) then I ( along with lots of others on here) can reccomend the Bosch S4 068 Model, physically it is a tight a fit as you can get and has a capacity of 70aH and 630CCA. At the moment ( for the next 7 days actually) it can be got for £80. I would expect the brake pedal to 'go hard' as the car is not starting ( no vacuum assist) and hydraulic system is now 'pumped up' when engine starts pedal will be normal again.2 points

Enjoy the car Nick, it's been an absolute amazing ownership experience for me and I'm sure you'll feel the same. It was very hard to see it go but it's gone to a good home and another forum member.2 points

Hello everyone, Only just joined. We've got an 2002 model. Bronze, cream leather. We love it. We have made a couple of alterations so that we can keep some of the original parts safe and sound in the garage. ( New alloys and exhaust) There are a couple of issues that I wandered if anyone knew how to solve. The window switches only work on down ( we have to use the roof switch to close them). Do we need to replace the switches or can they be repaired. If we need to replace them are there a cheap source of supply.( we had a crazy price from Lexus). Also there's a wind hiss where the drivers pillar meets the roof when it's closed. Does anyone have any experience how to solve these issues?1 point

Thanks chaps. I always use to replace the 'fan belt' on every second-hand 'new' car as a matter of course and keep the old one in the boot as a spare. These serpentine belts seem to go for ever, but do so much more than the old 3 pulleys. This video is useful. For £22.42p at ECP seems the best option. Continental belts are German and as ever great.1 point

Be aware though cars first registered after 1/1/2012 must have a functioning TPMS of some sort i.e. direct (valve sensors) or indirect (ABS, rotational speed)1 point

My Japanese is a bit rusty Hhhmmmm! Bit would I be right in guessing that that sticker is 'saying' something along the lines of, Inspect at 15,000km ( 9,000 Miles), Then every 12 Months,. And Replace at. 50,000 km ( 30,000 Miles) And At 100,000 km ( 60,000 Miles) Which is the point you are now at? paul m. Just used google translate and it comes back as this.1 point

The cores used in the TPMS system valves are the same as standard rubber valves so yes you can change them to see if it cures the problem. If it does not the only answer is to replace the complete valve assembly with re-programming the system to the new sensor. Followed by a draining of your wallet. John.1 point

I concur but doubt anyone in the UK has the buying power of the likes of Toyotas / Honda to actually make a fit for purpose car these days ....... vide Honda and Nissan giving up in the UK to concentrate their efforts on ' new ' electric technology in their own countries, maybe where trial and error won't go punished like here in the UK if and when a lot of dosh is spent on futile runs of nascent technology maybe for some years to come It's a new world for cars out there and we're only just starting the very very expensive journey methinks. Hi Ben. My previous experience with convertibles (MX5, BMW Z3 and Mercedes E250 cabriolet,) suggests that coating all rubber seals with gummi phledge may be the first step in softening the seals causing them to swell and fit better. Regarding the windows then I would certainly explore resetting them before anything else.1 point

Less than 2 mins digging brings up the fact that car is advertised with having 88,000 miles and in fact it went through a MOT on 11/03/19 with 90,000. paul m.1 point

Hi Ben, welcome to the fold, firstly prob not a good idea to have your email as a user name ( never know what it may get used for!). As for your window problem, I am not au fait with the SC430, but have you done a window 're-set' as per the owners manual? Paul m.1 point

Well that was simple enough and took no more than 10 minutes. Interestingly the two prongs needed for this are missing from the spine of my toolkit but thanks @Texas as I would never have know to even look. So two jewellers screwdrivers carefully inserted did the trick and just the normal tension of pushing the screwdrivers together while pulling and out comes the clock facia. Following the instructions from @Texas ejecting the DVD confirms its original 09-09 Ver 1 when ejected. My new £29.99 disk does look like original Lexus version and is noted 2017 18 Ver 2 on the disk and when loaded the car reads it correctly. Slot the clock back in and all is lovely and indeed shows a new local link road built around 12 months ago. So in the end I'm very pleased. Not an exact price comparison @CADman for all 4 European disks but I don't need the other 3, just the one with the UK on which is West Europe. (That said additional disks are available direct from the supplier for an extra £10 when placing an order so possibly £60 all in?. (I wish now I had bought one for my IS 300). As ever I guess the price of piece of mind for Lexus doing it or having a go yourself. Im a have a go sort of guy.1 point

Further to my last update in late 2018 I am now posting a new update of today with regard to the condition of the flanges. The surrounding paint as flaked off but the flanges have suffered no paint loss and more important they show no signs of corrosion this experiment as proved a 100% success and I can now recommend it to all owners who will be suffering from this issue .1 point

That's the spirit And come on, who else out there has done that one way train ticket thing where so long as the car isn't presented to you in a cardboard box then you're driving the damn thing home? I have. More than once1 point
