  1. I just had a quote from Lexus Birmingham - £165 each. Looks like I may have to move to Bolton

  2. ...and - of course - it started on the first turn of the key. Did you even doubt it? Perhaps needed a couple of extra seconds to get the fuel from the tank, but to say I was chuffed is an understatement. 🙂 It ran smoothly but quite rich (guessing from the exhaust smell) for a few minutes but then that settled down. Came up to temp; warm air into the cabin. Even the brakes are OK, although I might get them skimmed. It's a '97/98 Mk4 that I bought and put off the road while driving my other LS. (Silly, but it seemed to make sense at the time.) Photo is from just before I parked it up. Just got to get a deep clean done to get the muck/leaves/etc and see how it goes at the MOT station. Cost so far: £80 for a battery. More to follow!

  3. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/list/top-gears-top-9-massive-grille-edition#6 I would have been disappointed not to see at least one Lexus in the lineup. 2 out of 9 ain't bad. Like it.. Thumbs up for the ES. However thumbs down for the LX.

  5. My Celsior came via an importer so all the taxes, registration etc was already done, as was the instrument cluster, changed to Mph. The history is in Japanese so it means very little to me. The radio picks up radio 2 which is what I listen to, plus one other station where everyone seems to shout so that stays off. I'll be testing mine in May on the German autobahns so I won't know about speed restrictions until then! I put a UK nav disc in mine but it doesn't work so a used unit for about £200 is the answer. Many insurers won't cover imports but there are companies that specialise. An auction sheet with good grades is important too.

  6. Just had car pass MOT (Brilliant). Car done 195K, but when I took it in I said to look at UCAs as I get a slight knock on speed humps and some road dips (not all the time) and what feels like a vibration, but is not a vibration, more a sense of road rumble. Mechanic says the control arms looking okay (which surprises me at this mileage). Mechanic thinks road rumble at around 40mph, is mainly tyres (could be right as this effect seems to have been there since new tyres 5 months back). However he did say anti-roll bars are looking a bit sad, and will need doing. Questions: Is it best to go for OEM anti-roll, or worth a punt on other makes and what sort of cost should I be looking at. My mechanic will use genuine when I insist, and usually he knows his stuff, as he sorted out my brakes, which no else seemed to manage. Tyres by the way are Nexen Maxxis, so if they are a problem, might move them to rear when I have to get new rears in next month or so, and see what happens. I know a few people have Nexen makes on their LS, anyone else ever had more road rumble than expected with Nexens, they are pretty hard wearing though, my current rear Nexen Blues have done around 35000 miles which is pretty amazing and still have about 3000 left in them. Any advice appreciated. Also to say - Had the sparks changed, and amazed at difference it makes, engine seems a little quiter and pulls even better, and 'odd' gear changes I have been getting seemed to have gone (mainly when negotiating steep downhill section on final run home).

  7. Look for my posting a few years ago on how to access the top nuts on the rear springs, there's pics as well. Rear shelf doesn't need to come out.

  9. I went yesterday to Lexus dealership and the part costed £10.96, colour coded. I ordered it straight away and I was surprised to be so cheap. Thank you for the both recommendations and help....!

  10. Yes, a photo shop. Easy to do if you know how to use photo shop. Take a picture of the car with the Bonnet open, then the same picture with the Bonnet closed, crop the engine bay detail that you want in your finished picture, save it as a layer and then import that layer into the picture of the car with the Bonnet down. From there all you need to do is adjust the transparency level to allow the desired affect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. The 460 has an automatic parking brake selection which applies the parking brake every time 'Park' is selected on the gear shift. Totally agree about the soft close door function.

  15. That all makes sense which is why I've always applied the parking brake, if its designed to work and it isn't used it stands to reason that it'll seize or just not function properly after time. I even use the soft close door function every week or so.

  17. Hi Guys, Just so you know we can offer you the same parts that your Lexus Dealer will use at cheaper prices. We have had a lot of customers buy the parts from us and get their local dealer to fit them (as they are genuine dealers will fit) Plus you still get warranty and all the stuff. - Hope it helps
