  1. I also had a problem with the washer jet on my 2008 Rx400h, this time on the offside. Searched the internet as to how to get the jets off the bonnet and it is really very easy. Take a couple of old cardboard business cards. Slide one under the front of the jet and one under the rear of the jet. Push in towards the centre of the jet, fold the edges of the cards upwards and lift. Hey presto the jet comes out without any damage to the paintwork. Pull out the jet so that you have access to the pipework. Pull off the plastic pipe by twisting. Under no circumstances let go of the pipe when it is off the jet or you will lose it down the hole in the bonnet. I just wrapped a bit of duct tape around it to prevent this happening. Once off cleaning did nothing for the flow of liquid on the old jet so I purchased a new pair of jets off Ebay for the princely sum of £4.99 delivered within two days. see here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAIR-UNIVERSAL-WINDSCREEN-WASHER-TWIN-JET-ANGLED-INLET-PUSH-FITTING-4MM-WWY3/151834720862?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Easily fitted and unlike the original jets the two outlets can be adjusted with a pin to get the spray pattern correct. A very easy "do it yourself" job and at £4.99 a fraction of the cost that a garage would charge you----and I also have a spare jet in case the other one packs up

  2. My car thankfully doesn’t need brakes at the moment, however initial research seemed to suggest that only Lexus parts were available. just had a look on the Brembo website and it seems that OE discs and pads are now being manufactured for the GSF and RCF. Used the replacement Brembo discs and pads on my isf and never had any problems, so should save a few pennies when the time comes. Happy days. link to the Brembo page:- https://www.bremboparts.com/europe/en/catalogue/lexus-gs-l1-f-url10/000117800-1

  4. Given the title of this topic I was expecting to see that Lexus had released a flying machine 😁

  5. So my PCP was nearly at an end on my RX450h and it has gone back to Lexus. Interestingly 'We Buy Any Car' offered me more money than Lexus. Lexus offered either a nominal payment to me or a small amount as a p/x against another Lexus. With the info from WBAC I was able to negotiate a better deal from Lexus, I am glad as I didn't like the thought of it not gong back to Lexus. So worth checking if your PCP is nearly up. If anyone is looking for a used RX450h I can recommend mine, it never caused me a moments worry, sailed through her services & MOT and has extremely low mileage (message if you would like more info). Very sad to see her go, my third RX (RX350/RX400h/RX450h) now deciding on the next car as OH has just got a 4X4 so don't need another new RX, but I am going to miss it. Luckily have an IS250C to drive in the meantime, so I can legitimately stay on here!

  6. So recently my IS250 became much thirstier then before. There were few changes so it was hard to attribute it to the engine, obviously colder weather, but as well after fitting Michelin PS4s I noticed the tyres to be the reason to at least some extent event though they were rated same as the ones I have replaced (Dunlop Sportmaxx RT2s - C for fuel). However, after running the car for some time now it is clear there must be something more... my Tank MPG used to be in 28-29MPG range. End of summer after tyre change it dropped to 26, when colder weather hit it was 24 and now I am approaching 20s. Engine feels fine, starts fine, idles smooth, no misfires, last MOT all pollution figures were 0.00 (I was even wondering if have forgotten to put probe in), but the fuel consumtion indicates not all is rosy.. . There is one obvious job which needs doing - the spark plugs overdue, not 80k miles whereas it should have been replaced after 60k, so I will address it during next service. Secondly, I feel that 183k miles motor now has quite a bit of blow by both petrol leaking into oil and vice versa. Even few years ago after ~150k miles I could smell petrol in the oil and I do 5-6k miles oil changes + I have noticed car likes to burn little bit of 5w30 (or blow it in the cylinders). Now both of those things are normal for DI high pressure engines so I am not overly worried, but with the miles I am starting to suspect it now reached level where blow by recirculated via PCV and now starts to gunk-up intake valves. Anyhow, going to take off intake manifold of and try to see how intake valves are looking, replacing spark plugs is planned anyway. Other thing I found - engine likes 0w40 oil (or should I say dislikes... doesn't even sip) - probably makes sense thicker base oil, less blow by and at the same time less carbon build-up from PCV. Now I really would like to have an option of 350.... Finally, just accidentally found this video by savagegeese specifically for this topic - preventative maintenance for DI (wondering if there is good reason to consider oil catch can). Have you considered any preventative maintenance considering these DI engines will most likely surfer from similar problems?

  7. I see the fuse in that page alright. Thanks a lot. I'll try that tomorrow and report back. Thanks guys!

  8. A tyre would always be my first port of call with a droning sound, even when they look OK. For some reason the tyre drone often happens around 50mph.

  9. He was going to ask a friend in Lexus about possible faults and he would probably offer to do it himself, but I would probably be comfortable changing fuses and relays myself provided that they are reasonably accessible.

  11. Try using CarWow as a starting point for negotiations. I found it useful as it highlighted the dealers who are keen to do a deal. Problem may be that the ES is new. If you could wait a few months you may get a more tempting offer... Lexus Swindon are offering 0% PCP on all new cars (excl. the UX) with £2000 deposit contribution OR £4000 deposit contribution until Feb 21st. Might be worth giving them a ring.

  12. I guess it failed on 'excessive roughness' - that sounds a bit subjective to me, especially if there's no actual play. This is what the tester's manual says: 5.1.3 Wheel bearings Vehicles with a DGW more than 5,000kg don't need to have rear wheel bearings inspected. Assess play in wheel bearings by either: rocking the wheels in turn while they’re jacked clear of the ground using wheel play detectors in the side to side mode Also, rotate each wheel to check for noisy wheel bearings due to excessive roughness. Defect Category A wheel bearing: with excessive play Major play so excessive it is likely to break up or directional control impaired Dangerous A wheel bearing: excessively rough Major likely to collapse Dangerous

  14. I accept the NX may be good compared to some of the competition but it isn't as good as it could be which is a shame. The RX is larger, heavier and with a much more powerful, smoother and quieter drivetrain and yet can almost match it for economy. The NX engine doesn't have direct injection which makes it lack some power and the transmission makes the engine rev much sooner than in the IS/GS, and the hybrid system is 1 to 2 generations out of date. The new Toyota RAV4 is where the NX should be, with a modern engine and hybrid system. They are the same size yet the RAV is faster and more powerful but with over 20% economy. The NX has a 35.5 to 40 mpg Combined – WLTP against 49.5 to 50.4 mpg for the RAV.

  15. Couldn't agree a fair price on the private ‘07/80k LS460 so walked. The SC430 is a classic small limo, a delight to drive, closed or open. The IS250C is a hidden secret. Thanks for commenting.

  18. See my recent fuel consumption figures in Buying GS450H Gen3 Looking a bit of advice current figures are disappointing but are probably due to a combination of local driving and the colder weather.

  19. £290 is standard price for cat-back (that is Y pipe from resonator and 2 new silencers), not cheap nor expensive. When I lost my rear silencer I had it welded as well £60, over 4 years ago now - "not bad value for money". But if it would happen Again I would probably just do all SS, by now I have quite a few pin holes rusted... if it is pin hole outside, I am sure it is cheese inside.

  20. Don't worry Tex you only need find a tester on a bad day and even a new car gets failed, I reckon they have a list of most likely problems to fail you on at given mileages, I've an 02 bike passes every year without fail because I stand there and anything he brings up I shoot down as I'm always on top of maintenance.

  21. I can see that MOT time is gonna be a lot less stressful now I got a Lexus unlike Years gone by with Fords & Vauxhall's. I still got a Mondeo to nurse through it every year but that's more of a challenge than a necessity. paul m.

  23. Quick update, started with the retrofit to LED light install. Did the interior and puddle lights last night. All I'll say is wow! What a difference, it's crazy how much better they are. Especially good when you walk up to the car and the light underneath the mirror lights up the whole side of the car! A must have mod and very easy and cheap to do!

  24. Loved it. Wish they would not use the sport all the time. It’s just the two of us oldies now so getting in and out is a big improvement. Not much leg room in the back but we only have to bring the seats forward a bit. Apart from grandchildren the back seat on my IS is never used. The boot floor is high with lots of space underneath the floor. Plenty for us, but some people may be put off by that. Electronic hand brake with a button by the radio controls, that’s a first for me. This car had the red leather which was nice but that meant it had black roof lining which made it very dark inside. I am having Rich Cream with a similar roof lining. Ordering the White with the Premium Plus pack. All the controls look very nice, I am sure the touch pad will take some getting used to. The 10” info screen looks very good. Should have a delivery date soon. I am expecting 2nd half of March. Just over 1 year since my deposit.
