On a Mk2 there is an out and back cooling pipe which you can see when you raise the Bonnet. They can corrode and leak. Otherwise, the Seal between PSP body and Reservoir can begin to leak as it deteriorates. Also, where the twin pipe Vacuum lines go into the body of the PSP (underside regrettably and not easy to see, the seal can go and the plastic can possibly split. See Vutube Scotty Kilmer on this item. Other than that any pipe connection can leak from the flexi pipe or O high pressure line connection. Pipe under bonnet runs across Radiator ( or the Air con) and likely to leak the most I'd think

Nice of you to say so, I suppose I know a little about MB, at least up until they stopped making cars and concentrated solely on manufacturing money. Aside from that, I have to say I found some of the (frankly ignorant) blowhards a little too rich for my digestion. This is a much more civilised forum. Mind you, I suppose if there was a forum devoted to when MB made cars, say up until 1998, then that could be fun. My G is 1991 and doesn't look a day older than.......... I bet that having such an unused interior is a real treat!!! I’m much more tempted by low mileage cars myself these days because the thing I always consider when people boast that high mileage is nothing to certain engines you have to remember the mileage will take its toll on the rest of the car such as the gearbox, suspension components, steering, brakes, seats, switches and buttons etc. My Mondeo is 17 years old and has only done 57k and everything still feels tight and like new. I once had an 18 year old Ford Escort with only 13k on it!!! It was a real timewarp car being like brand new throughout. I’d say at 29,000 miles it’s not even run in yet!!! John if you've read my recent thread about the vibration at speed you will see that I also had a problem with the steering feeling light and also experienced, like Lee says above, having to concentrate at keeping the car in a straight line. This was traced to it toeing out and a 4 wheel alignment has sorted this and as a result the steering now feels much more weightier.

I had a specific thread on this a couple of years back with my Mk3 ! Can't remember it's title tho . it might have started summat like " catastrophic leak " good luck finding it . it was the gubbins pipework at the top above the cooler pipes but below the reservoir ... my guy replaced in appropriate flexi hose stuff rather than the amazingly expensive mild steel replacement OEM part Malc

Even the mechanic had a hard job loosening the nuts! Imagine on a wet night...... Now have full set. Inflated tyre. Jack.Tools. Locking nut. Nuts that don't need the Hulk to loosen. Coffee flask/Brandy...later.

I don't know if this is important to you or not but the road tax on the 350 is £555 per year but the 400h is "only" £280

I think they will give you a 12 month warranty on the battery if you pay them for a hybrid health check but I'm not 100% sure on that one.

With that kind of mileage I'm not sure that a hybrid is best suited. You've got 2 batteries to keep charged in a hybrid and if you're not doing enough miles then the traction battery is not going to be charged well meaning that the engine will be running permanently and that defeats the object of a hybrid. It depends on whether your journeys will be infrequent but reasonably long or frequent but short. For the former you will need a good 12v battery that won't drain too much while the car is standing and for the latter I would think about getting a normal car. If I was doing that kind of mileage then I'd get a V8 Jeep Cherokee or something like that 😁

Although I havent had a 400h for a few years now I found that if I planted the loud pedal then I got torque steer ( on occasion quite badly) however if I progressively applied the throttle then it was barely noticeable. Its much the same with the 450h that I now have. Hope this helps. Bri

Malc I beg to differ on the low mileage causing harm to the car. My Mark 4 had 19k on it at 14 years old( one owner )now its got 42 k on it after my 6 years of ownership and it as never missed a beat and still runs and performs like it came of the factory floor this morning

Last update for now. Got my new tyre sensor programmed at Lexus Reading today, so all is good for now. Lexus Sidcup really came through with not only payment for the alloy refurb but the sensor and programming too! Almost 3000 miles into my ownership now and still loving it every time I take it out
