  1. I've recently switched over my 2008 OEM wheels after sourcing a set of 2012+ ISF OEM wheels from The States. Pretty happy with the outcome.....

  2. Is it location dependant? If so it could be radio interference on the 433Mhz frequency the key works on - things like energy monitors, remote garage door openers, weather stations and wireless doorbells also use a similar frequency to the key fob so could be interfering if you've recently installed a new one (or the neighbours)

  4. Well done investigating the issue a bit more but chin up, it's not a major mechanical issue and a decent/honest/hard working garage should be able to sort it out for you without breaking open the children's piggy banks. I feel for you though as once the leak(s) are fixed then it's going to take a good while to thoroughly get all the carpets/etc dry. Personally I'd work through the niggles and then you should have a good runner. If you jump ship then you're likely to take a loss selling this car and then have to shell out for another which might turn out to be in worse condition. If you were closer, I'd happily take a look for you...maybe another forum member is closer and happy to be fed/watered while they help you

  5. well, I'm reading that there's zero rights extending to the object being sold until all the money has cleared ............. what a leap of faith for some dopey purchaser methinks Unless one's buying it through a first class intermediary who's underwriting the deal then this is possibly just a scam to relieve one of some hard earnt dosh Malc

  9. So my universal intercooler brackets came and its turned out quite well, although i do need a couple more brackets to secure the bottom of the cooler and another for the top to brace it. As you can see on the last 2 pics there is an extra brace to make it a little more sturdy just need another now to attach the other side. Also tried it both ways to see which way i prefer.... im thinking the blank side to make it a little more stealthy. Next up, more chopping of the bumper to accommodate its full height and area for the boost pipes to go.

  10. Kieran, if a large part of your driving is two mile trips, I can understand why your fuel consumption is high. I imagine any car with some kind of combustion engine is going to do poorly under those conditions. I think the only way around it is to get a fully electric car, or a plug-in hybrid that doesn't start the combustion engine at all during those short trips.

  11. Which you should get back, once A's insurers pay up, assuming they admit full culpability. B's insurance company will be informed anyway by A's insurers . Does B have protected NCD?

  12. I do clear my browser history regularly, but thinking more about the problem, I think it might have been due to me clicking the back arrow to return to the previous section (which is convenient if looking at more than one topic in say the NX or GS section etc), so instead I've just tried clicking on the 'Forums' tab instead and that appears to refresh everything and at the moment the dates/times tally. I'll keep an eye on it and thanks for the reply as it made me think about what was really causing it.😀

  13. I suspect that it's behind the boot side trim, but can't find anything to give more precise instruction.

  14. Agree with informing the police (although they may well not be interested) Car B driver has no contract or business relationship with insurer of A. B should hand the whole thing over to Bs insurer. Bs insurer has a contract with B and Insurance companies have business relationships with each other. This is business, not a personal dispute (even if B would like it to be) None of that is any guarantee of a satisfactory outcome, but it's the only way to handle it. IMHO

  15. A has committed an offence by not providing information to B. Police should be informed.

  17. At very slow speeds when the wheel at half to full lock you get this, like understering effect - you turn right but the car still goes almost straight! I was talking to a friend of mine who thinks that I have this because the front of the car considerably light and the back with the battery is heavy, so when it's dump cold, dusty etc the front wheels just do not have enough pressure on them to resist rear wheels pushing forward.

  18. My wifes get around 40-45mpg for 10 mile work commute. On long runs she gets 50-55mpg. You can get just under 60mpg if you really try - but to get over that your need to hypermile. I've never seen ours report under 40mpg on a tank, and I do all the fuel ups- Ours is on 17inch wheels, 22k in and orignal tyres still have 4mm tread.

  20. Crumbs, that's a low mileage motor - well found. Any chance of pic's? 'as new' condition' so no apparent issues/niggles to work though?

  21. Very nice. Like how dished they are in the center. Are these your winter wheels? Did you get a good deal by buying from the states?

  24. Stephen thank you for sharing regards winter tires. That is what I am afraid of, I buy new winter tires but the problem will stay, as you say I am thinking it is a suspension geometry thing.

  25. Just go with different supplier ... surely somebody has set of PS4s'es in UK. Now I know you trust your supplier and that is cute and adorable, but maybe just me - I always get very suspicious when suppliers push or even "recommends" certain product. After all if they have cr** loads of something sitting in warehouse they cannot be exactly free from desire to get rid of it? In other hand Kuhmo is fine as a brand... it is not some kind of no name thing which going to put you in danger.

  26. Which is why I always advocate that if the government says we have to have car insurance they should supply it as in Road Tax.

  27. I used the meerkat site in July and the premium for my wife and I was £274. This replaces a Prius which had £160 insurance, so definitely no free lunch for us. We are in our 60’s so next year I will as usual look around again. This current insurance is with LV, as was the Prius, so I expect better rates at the next renewal, or move on to someone who quotes lower. its a mugs game to stay with the same insurer as you are easy meat for an increase. All they do is tell you that you don’t need to do anything to renew and that they have done all the hard work keeping costs down and you will only pay 20% more even though industry averages are up to 50% more..... ad nauseum bs from the insurers. Halifax and Lloyd’s were good at this. Got a good first year premium and then they sink their teeth in. Unfortunately for them, I do shop around and never renew. No loyalty in insurance I’m afraid.

  29. So... Had the car in for the cam belt change at 76500 miles (and almost 13 years old) - discovered (thankfully after all that work) it was actually needed as the original belt was still on the car and had started to stretch. Obviously did all the other bits when in that far and had a full service and fluids change. I was given some chrome trim for the bumpers that I will fit when its a bit warmer as I would be wary that the "glue" might not stick very well in the cold weather. I have now also tinted the windows, and found a rear reversing sensor on ebay for £7 🙂 just need a wheel cap for the facelift wheels but they are like hens teeth at the minute (at least a nice clean one is anyway) Still need to find a way to get the drivers seat cushion repaired/replaced and that is proving difficult as none of the local upholsterers want to know because of the vented/heated seats. Apart from that its driving great and I can see me keeping this one until I can't drive it anymore either due to being very poor or very old 🙂

  30. Hi all. Mine is due for renewal in January so that should be a laugh It is at the moment £483.00 per year how they got this i do not know as when i owned my Jaguar XK 4.2 which i got in January 2017 i was paying £491.00 per year nothing different on the policy so how comes a 4.2 V8 Ali body coupe verses a 2.5 V6 steel body 4 door saloon get within £8.00 pounds cheaper the Lexus was cheaper than the Jaguar. It is not as if iam young in my fifties now with no convictions or any claims they say it's your post code c**p just a way off getting more money out off you. 65mike

  32. I am apparently in the age group where car insurance is at its lowest. I would seem to have learned all of life's driving lessons, and at 66 am a low risk they say. If only they could see how I drive sometimes!😇

  33. I usually opt for the middle setting. Only a few idiots cut me up at that and it is far enough back to avoid stone chipping from stuff kicked up by the vehicle in front. I go with the longest setting if it is really wet.

  34. There is definitely switching going on from diesel to hybrid, but there is also a reliability switch going on. I've just acquired my first Lexus having been with a series of Range Rover sports since 2006.. reason to switch is that LR misdesigned positioning of the diesel particulate filter on the 2014 to 2017 diesel engines of evocque, discovery sport, discovery 5 and RR sport.. consequence is engines are getting oil dilution as diesel is seeping in as the particulate filter is blocking as it's not close enough to the engine to burn itself clean . Interim services and failed engines/crankshafts have been occurring and LR are not guarenteeing supporting the work under warranty. A good number of LR sport owners are throwing in the towel and I know at least 5 that have moved to the RX..

  35. i wouldnt say its been used outside of working specs ,what i would say is everything is black or white...yes or no to a computer and when going round a corner it cant tell if the reflected signal is from a vehicle in the same lane or the lane next to you, when it first happens it can take you by surprise one minute your doing 70 the next your doing 60 i dont surpose its a good feeling for the driver behind you when the lane in front is clear but your car brakes firmly for no apparent reason .

  36. Yes. It comes with various models and is part of the safety system plus package. 2018 model years include it as standard on the se plus, luxury, fsport and premier levels. On the CT it disengages about 30 mph. My 2014 Advance didn’t have it but my 2018 f sport does. I think it’s great and suits my commute where the speeds on a dual carriageway do vary a bit. I found the Subaru system to be better (has 2 cameras rather than Lexus camera + radar) as it seemed to be smoother where as the Lexus system can be a bit slow to speed up when the car in front moves over and can have a bit of a panic on bends but overall it’s pretty good and saves constantly having to make adjustment if the traffic is heavier.

  39. From what I can remember, the UK market won't be getting the non-hybrid variants of the UX that use Toyota's new DCVT gearbox, but this is a interesting video none the less. The new Corolla also uses this transmission, but again I think we won't be seeing see it here. Compact and complex: Torturous torque transmission!

  41. Yesterday I had a rear flat tyre on the M20 west bound near Ashford, just a few miles after leaving the Chunnel The TPMS flashed on the dash and the car sounded odd a few minutes later. It felt fine behind the wheel but I pulled over pretty quickly to check it out. After unloading the boot onto the hard shoulder I couldn't find the wheel brace! so had to wait an hour for recovery #doh We didn't want to crawl 180miles back home at 50mph so whilst waiting I called around tyre shops and found one 30miles up the road that had stock and could fit us in but the recovery chap recommended one just off the motorway. I loaded up the bad wheel into the boot only to find that hybrid wheel well wouldn't accommodate the full size wheel The 18" wheel/tyre would sit upright/tilted tho so the boot floor and massive awkward wheel/tool support were tossed in the back back seat along with cases/etc. Tyre shop#1 (you can guess where this going) had a full waiting room and couldn't help before closing in 1hr (it was 1pm). So we made our way back onto the motorway and chugged slowly towards tyre shop#2 (who I'd called earlier) only to find their fitter had left and they didn't know when he'd be back! I couldn't make this up, it really happened and it wasn't a dream (unfortunately). I found tyre shop#3 less than 1 mile away who fitted us right in, hurrah. The offending tyre had bad inner should wear with carcass showing for good 8-10 inches #eek and the other had a similarly bad profile. As I was keen to load up the car at the side of the motorway this was the first time I had seen the bad tyre and I can't fathom how the recovery guy didn't spot the issue while I got the spare mounted. Two new tyres later and they couldn't find any issue with the suspension so the tracking was checked and corrected slightly at the front, they thought the rear was fixed tho By this point we'd had enough and we just wanted to get home. So what is normally a 5hr journey turned into 10hrs which was a struggle after getting to bed at 2am the night before/morning of the trip. At least we left our pals at a sensible 10am. In summary; I'm still mad with myself for taking the 21mm socket/wheel brace out of the car, so check you have yours! The boot not taking a full size wheel is potty, especially if your boot is full and you have 3 passengers!! In hindsight I should have loaded the busted wheel into the back seat. Tyre shops are both popular and incompetent in equal measure on Sundays!!! I'm mad at myself for not closely inspecting the tyre's sooner under full rotation AND across their entire width. If you have a slow tyre leak for a few months then don't just presume it's a bad TPMS valve and just keep topping it up. On the plus side; It was sunny whilst we waited for recovery There we only 2 of us in the car We didn't need to get anywhere in a hurry The tyre failed in the UK and not in France, where motorway recovery is pricey The vehicle won't fail it's MOT next week on worn rear tyres We slept really well last night I wonder if the inner rear tyre wear was at least partially caused by the rear riding lower recently? If so, then I may have already fixed the issue (hopefully). I definitely need to check the rear bushes closely and get the rear toe checked/reset properly. Has anyone else fixed rear inner tyre wear by replacing any of the rear links/bushes?
