That's a very interesting post: I always used Bosch Aerotwin on our RX400h and was very pleased with them. When the time came to change the wiper blades on our RX450h, I naturally ordered the Aerotwins again, however I was very disappointed as patches were left untouched on the windscreen. It got to the point that I contacted the supplier who sent me a replacement set on the assumption that the ones I had received must be faulty. I had the same issue with the replacement set, and ended up going to the dealer who fitted Denso wipers (which were much cheaper than the Bosch bought onlnine). No problem after that.2 points

Hi, Thanks for the welcome! I wasn't expecting it (and missed the notifications). Here are some pics. It is a Crown Majesta S180 C Class 2006 - so full leather, enhanced sound system, climate control, rear fridge etc etc. I imported it from Japan to Australia. Have to say I had never heard of a Crown before I went on-line looking for a lexus, so buying it was a bit of a gamble but it seems to have paid off - had it a few weeks now and am still v impressed.2 points

I finally got around to replacing my spark plugs on Saturday. Mileage 67000 - I said I wouldn't do it until 100K but now that the Denso recommended plugs are Iridium Denso IKBH20TT rather than the original Platinum plugs and are available for £42 something a set I decided to plunge in. I also replaced the surge tank to manifold gaskets (3 off) - I bought them from RockAuto for about £19 including postage. I've watched the video on YouTube but haven't been able to find a workshop manual type guide for this job, so I've put one together so you can print it off and keep it handy whilst doing the job.. It uses the Lexus instructions for removal of the coils (which then gives you access to the plugs), an exploded diagram of the relevant part of the intake system and some notes which might help. You have to remove the air surge tank (incidentally this is not the inlet manifold, as frequently mis-stated, here and elsewhere). Most of the excess time for the job goes on a few frustrating things - the stupid inaccessible bolt on the back of the surge tank, the clip for the main power feed from the battery and a couple of other things. I'm sure that if it weren't for them the job could take an hour, but as it is, allow an afternoon! At least I have the satisfaction of having saved a wedge of money compared with dealer charges and I know the job has been dome properly. Incidentally I wondered whilst doing the job if the surge tank had really been removed only a couple of years ago when the fuel pressure sensor seal was replaced - or was it? I began to wonder if the dealer had just used some sort of sniffer, decided the seal was OK and done nothing. They had the car for a suspiciously short time and did a video of various safety checks too. It just felt as if no-one had been in there for 12 years, not just two years ago. Might be my imagination! Dammit just went out to my GS-250 to go to a meeting and it's dead, can't even open the doors, no red alarm light illuminated. Pretty sure its the battery as I didn't drive it yesterday and the cold weather has arrived and there is no sign of it being replaced in the last 5 years in the MyLexus app. What battery do I need, any in particular? Is it worth going to Lexus or just an auto store? Thanks folks!1 point

Due a back/neck problem I wanted a comfortable car that I could get into & out with out a lot of bending. Strange that it seems I can get in and out of a small two door car, say a 107 better than a large four door. Anyway I exstreamly surprised to find everything I needed plus much more in the Lexus. Have a few thing that miss due to the age but can and, I think will have to live with, unless someone knows better? 1) can’t upgrade the Map to latest version. 2) can’t download my phone directory. 3) the 12v conection is way down and out of reach if I connect fm adapter. Not a great list of wants so well pleased but need to change f/s front light as it’s has condensation inside and n/s screen washer is a bit lacklustre, are pump individual or a a pair. Overall I’m well pleased 😁1 point

Welcome Ken. First off, let me say thank you for buying a new GS450h in 2013, because without people like you I wouldn't have been able to have the car I have today I am in a very similar position to you. I was actually thinking of this today - What I would do in a few years if I decided to replace my GS? My biggest issue with the ES is the lack of 450h option. I am thoroughly enjoying the performance my GS450h is affording me at the moment, so it would be hard to give up. Also, like you, an F model would be ideal (GS-F preferably), but I suspect it would be out of my price range. Unfortunately, an LS would be the same, especially when you consider extended warranty costs and fuel consumption. So, if I want similar performance and spec to what I currently have in a few years, the only option I can see at the moment is a newer GS450h, if you could find one. Sad times1 point

I previously owned the Evoque, which to be fare was a good drive and handled well. I traded in my RX400h for it and the only reason was that I'd had an older RX before that and thought ! fancied a change. But for me it was style over substance, let down by horrendous after sales service, in my case a fault with the panic alarm (didn't even know it had one until it randomly started going off at all times of the night and day, much to my neighbours annoyance). It went back to the dealer on numerous occasions and had to call out their recovery service at least twice. I remember one time going to pick it up after being 'fixed' and when I asked someone else to open the car for me to check, it started going off straight away, I then sat in their reception for 2 hours whilst they stripped someone else's brand new car that had just been delivered to get parts to 'fix it'..... well I left in a loan car!!! Never again!! Couldn't wait to get rid of (back to the dealer!) Extremely happy with my RX450h (it's replacement). Never had any issues with the 3 RX's owned.1 point

I think the drivers wiper is too long really for an aerowiper to put enough pressure on the ends, which is why they float. The Denso style apply more pressure along the length.1 point

if going option 2 and you don't currently have an aftermarket elbow speak to Paul @ https://roosemotorsport.co.uk I have used Roose in the past when I owned a Cosworth and the quality is super, they are reinforced to prevent them collapsing under suction, I have had problems with this when using Samco etc, so were my go to guys for developing a solution for our cars. I believe they will be £95 so around half the price of the HPS ones once you have factored in shipping and taxes from the US and available in loads of colours. Will update with a new thread with pictures for anyone that might be interested once it turns up.1 point

I will be looking to replace my GS450 for LS500h in 2020/2021 area. Hopefully early models will drop to 40k area. Luxury trim on LS will be something like premier on GS. Both cars got almost the same engine and LS and got similar feel on the road. Where LS is a bit more on comfort side rather than GS trying to be more sporty.1 point

Did mine on the new mark 4, 6 years ago when I bought it and it is still working.Varnish is not suitable it as to be poly based As to be worth a try as against £70 for a new one.1 point

I bought a GS450h premier new in 2013 and think it is a great car, so I was distraught to find out the Lexus have stopped selling this model in the UK. I am likely to keep the current GS450h for another couple of years but am looking for recommendations for a replacement in due course. I would prefer a Lexus rather than another make. I like the comfort of the GS450h (not cramped inside) together with the fact it has great acceleration, when needed, as well as the high spec. I am not an car expert but have not had any problems or extra costs with this model. The ES looks smaller inside and with a sloping roof makes the back seats tight – as well as not being as well specked as the GS450h. I guess the nearest comparable is the GS F model but it costs a lot more – which I would find hard to justify to myself. Any thoughts or suggestions for a nice replacement roomy and well specked car would be appreciated. If all else fails, I guess that in 2020 I could look at a 2018 2-year-old GS450h. The alternative is that I hang on to my current GS450h for, say, another 5 years - which I like a lot and also nothing has gone wrong with it and the paintwork is perfect apart from some small stone chips. It is not a high mileage car, about 8k miles per annum, and I have this year replaced all four tyres after 35k for ££520 and updated the satnav for £180.1 point

Well the new ones got a good test last night. Worked much better. It was Bosch Aerotwin that I took off, that were causing problems and back to the standard Denso whcih are fine for now, much smoother.1 point

Simon There is a simple fix for the water bottle sensor; remove sensor float from the bottle and leave it in the airing cupboard for a week to dry it out . Paint the float with clear lacquer taking care to not to put too much on and it still slides freely on the stem. Refit and you are good to go1 point

Hi Richard I have had same problem with water marks in same place and after looking in all the known places ( more than one well known area that leaks) Lexus had the car in and stripped out the rear boot trim and sides only to find water pooled in boot floor pan area. This had been going on so long it had caused corrosion of the rear boot panel at the base that had to be rectified at bodyshop ! Two areas found to be at fault: 1. Small split in boot/tailgate seal- item replaced and sealed. 2. Small fracture/split on welded seam in boot as the side panel starts to turn vertical if that makes sense. Rear light clusters were checked and seemed ok but had the seals replaced just in case. Hope that may help a little and good luck stuart1 point

I consider myself a badge snob (love BMW's) so when I was searching for a new car I never considered a GS, well, it has big petrol engine, heavy, not popular and while test driving other cars (after GS) I was doing my research and Lexus is comfy, plush inside, actually quite a looker, very reliable BUT hitting 62mph under 6 seconds was one of the factors I like about the car even if I use it 20% of the time. I like quick acceleration or even just to make a quick maneuver and having this ability just makes driving safer, for the same reason I would not buy my wife a car that is slow but "economical", it can be not safe. For most people (people buying A-class 180d for example) acceleration does not matter but it does to me. Just saying.1 point
