I've always abandoned my Mk3 Ls400 when ice and snow are on the ground ..... she has a mind of her own I've found ............. however I have just replaced all 4 tyres with Maxxis All Seasons and they certainly feel the grippiest tyres I've ever had on her ................. but I'll still probably just use the AWD Honda Legend we have when the snow and ice hit ... those rare few days down south BUT I remember reading of Ls400 owner (s ) on this forum with a base in Norway /Sweden/Iceland wherever and being very happy driving in snow and ice on the tyres he / they had Find those posts and you will possibly find the right and best winter tryres for our Ls400s Malc2 points

I will also share something. yesterday trip from London to Cardiff. Mostly 70-80 with one 15miles stretch with 50 limit. I was using ECO mode this time and it seems to have a difrence. Cruise control was on for most of time. ive started measurement after joining M4 from M25 and look what I’ve got after 20 miles of slow 50mph area - my new personal best2 points

I had Dunlop Wintersport 4D on my previous car and they were great - currently I'm running 4x Continental WinterContact TS850P on a Volvo XC90 and it had no issues going up and down the steepest hills around here in the moors during the snow of last winter while other cars would be sliding all over with zero traction - the 4WD helped.2 points

Is250 sel. Done a few bits like wrapping the interior wood to a carbon effect but everything else is standard. Got it 2 years ago and really like it. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk1 point

............ no amount of penny pinching and saving on fuel can compensate for the ludicrous capital costs of buying a new beast compared to our amazingly comfortable, reliable, fabulously fast and quick elderly beloved Ls's' Malc1 point

Hi all That's good news and for a 2006 car with that mileage it has even less mileage than mine.🙂 65mike1 point

Have you got ceramic on the car or just trying the headlights first? What colour is yours? You like your detailing as well by the sounds of it. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk1 point

You have not seen my steering wheel, really scabby, need to get off my backside and get it sorted. Probably going to get mine recovered at some point, means some down time while being done. All the second hand LS400 steering wheels I have seen on ebay and elsewhere have the early-onset skank setting in. All those years of finger grease wearing at the leather. However with Xmas coming up (and a roof of house in need of repair) might be a while yet before I get this done.1 point

This is something we have been thinking for a few years now, but I suspect with petrol now at £1.35 a litre (compared to 90p not so long ago) only nutters like us would run a big engined motor. But as we have all discovered these tanks are light on petrol (considering). I know more modern big engines are fuel efficient, but why spend £60K+ for a frugal merc when the £54K would buy you a shed load of fuel. I think I have the biggest and cheapest car in the office and driving a petrol head to garage last week (so she could pick up her motor), she was gobsmacked when I put the beast in PWR mode and put me foot down. As good as a Chimera that she once owned but a darn sight nicer to be in.1 point

Hi Phil The coil over replacements worked very well so I recommend them. Afew point to consider: I had leaking rear stuts, the compressor was noisy and the rear left ride height sensor and link was broken. I think the sensor was the biggest problem to repair. There are a lot of cheap parts available in the US (including delivery) so new parts may be cheaper than you think. A lot of 430s were sold in NA so there are warehouse firesales of new spare parts. Rock Auto was my favourite place to shop. Glad to see you are keeping your beast running. Bren1 point

It took me ages to find my car - there are none for sale here in Northern Ireland at the minute (either 430 or 460) and this year so far I only spotted 2 for sale both out of my price range and I have not seen one on the road anywhere local - however in the south of Ireland there seems to be a few ok most due to the fact that they cost over 1800 Euro a year to tax them 😕 In fact that's where mine came from (Co Offaly just to the left of Dublin) and was a (relatively) painless operation to bring it up (the dealer took it as a trade in and did all the paperwork) result is I got a 1 owner car with 76000 on it a lot cheaper than I expected - yes it needs a bit of TLC but that to me is part of the fun of ownership 🙂 People here are scared of the big engines and fuel costs of running them but to me the way things are going, now is the time to get one before everyone else catches on1 point

Good move. I'm battling with mine as they started to go yellow when I got the car. Have compounded them a couple of times then use a sealant on them. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk1 point

Sorry I cannot help with a spare wheel. However the damage to the paintwork on you wheel does not seem enough to have buckled it. Are you sure it is not the tyre that is damaged? There are companies that will remove the buckle from alloy wheels, and that could be an alternative route. John.1 point

Another vote for the Goodyear Ultragrips. I had a set on a BMW 1 series a few years ago and they were great.1 point

Looking good Dan, I like the rear boot spoiler, nice and subtle. Wait... a 3 bucket method, what dark sorcery is this??1 point

I guess if you specialise in a certain car you have your fingers in all the advertising pies and auctions. I once spent a week on a narrow boat and quickly discovered the merits of a barge pole, but still I wouldn't use it to touch one of his cars!1 point

Small update, my valve covers are finally back! Good things come to those that wait, they have turned out fantastic! The pictures really do not do this colour justice at all especially the far away shot of the bay, the finish is flawless. The work was done by maldon shot blasting and powder coating http://www.ctc-powder-coating.co.uk/ there colour range is outstanding with alot of wild colours. Now i know its looks a bit disjointed at the minute but once its all done it will look great (in my opinion of course 😎) Brake calipers will also be this colour or very similar so it wont be the only orange bit on the car. Roll on black friday for some more parts1 point
