  1. Sorted! In the interest of completion for any future searches (a lot of threads I found had no conclusion), the issue turned out to be knackered dizzy caps. This also took out one of the coils so they've been replaced too. Happy man!

  3. I leave my keys by the front door, if they are that keen to have my car and break in, I would rather they do that without disturbing me and the missus

  5. Five months and 4,000 plus miles later and this car exceeds my expectation of a Lexus. I thought I'd owned most of the cars I ever wanted excepting a Bentley and Lexus was last on my bucket list apart from the big beast. Wow, did I leave the best to last? Amazing motor, fuel consumption much less than the three litre diesels, performance to manage any road condition through a terrific transmission setup. The seats are the best ever, Toyota was my previous best so no surprise with the Lexus. Better than any of the Mercs, Jags or BMW's by far.

  7. Trouble with only one axle having winter tyres is that one axle will always be the wrong one for a given scenario.

  8. Personally I would never mix tyres. Just don't belief it's safe.

  9. All I do is place my key in a Faraday cage. The spare is switched off. The driveway is gravel and the dog hungry....

  10. Did the fitting garage register the new valve transmitters on the car? If you don't get this done then the orange light will come on after about 10 minutes driving and remain on.

  11. I just wouldn't. Some say the two best tyres need to be on the back, not on the front etc... But to never mix All Season/Winter, with Summer tyres. And if you had to make an insurance claim and it was found with mixed tyres... who knows?

  12. Same ^^^ Probably xx% of the time you'd be fine but that one time you need grip to all 4 tyres your 50+ grand car is just going to let go. And I'm not just talking about sending power to whichever wheel, I'm talking about the back end possibly just losing it on a corner for example. You don't drive everywhere in a straight line.

  14. Yes, it's got one of those "sold as seen, sold as scrap" lines in it which, AFAIK, doesn't protect them. It was clearly sold as a going concern... Why else would it come with AA membership? I don't want to have to jump through hoops, what I want is for the car to be sorted without costing an arm and a leg.

  16. Thanks for all your replies. I will stick to using the seat memory buttons on my 2006 rx400h, and dream of an rx450 in the future.

  17. Dear all, I did it. I have Lexus IS 250, 2008. Rear calipers were totaly seized. I tried to use different oils, lubricants, break fluid, small hammer, big hammer... Only what can help you is heating. Electrical heating gun is to weak. You need oxygen-acetylene burner and gently hammering in correct place and direction.

  18. Had a pair of Super Sport fronts fitted at Lexus while it was in for service £397 in total, don't know if there is any advantage with the PS4S, to be honest the Super Sports work well for me, I find the wet weather grip is very good.

  19. For health reasons I've had to sell the RCF. If anyone wants info on my car LO16 RZY then feel free to drop me a line, or BIGRAT knows the car quite well also. I may be back, loved the short ownership of the car, and this forum. Tim
