A forum stalker at the moment. Decided a few months ago I wanted to own a big V8 and after some research decided on a ISF. Realistically it will be 18months before I will be in a position to buy, so been stalking the forum since to build up some knowledge.

Sadly this sort of logic doesn’t carry with some members!

Sorry Shahpor, I had a chuckle at this. You've now progressed from an IS220D where the engine drowned any possibility of hearing road noise. Now you have close to silent progress, you're having a moan about road noise. 😉

Hey everybody Just completed a 4250 miles Grand Tour of the emerald isle ......... stunning vistas, brilliant, exactly 4 weeks and some 3514 miles in Ireland, the rest to and fro Holyhead Changed my front tyres before I left and the rears on my return date on 214k miles 225/60/16 Maxxis All Seasons £96 a corner all-up these tyres feel quite grippy and good, four firm feet on the ground ☺️ they replace ordinary Maxxis HR1 ?....... which covered about 30k miles. Drawback was the OEM wiper rubbers replaced at the last service at 205k miles, the drivers side smears and no amount of cleaning the rubber or the screen shifts the irritant. I won't be buying OEM again, they are quite expensive and whereas before they lasted 3yrs / 40k miles, this latest batch just aren't good quality from Toyota/Lexus The car performed magnificently .... dealt with the twisty climbs and switchbacks and all else Irish roads could throw at her, just brilliant performance Not a single worry or fault, just brilliant motoring, but only as we all come to expect from our Ls 400s No idea how much fuel etc or the mpg BUT what I do know is she performed sooooo well that upon return she had a hand wash and now sparkles again EXCEPT my own stupid fault i know ....... many roads there come to an abrupt end with no prior warning before you start the journey down them ........ rather than reversing back along this particular dastardly road i decided to do a 3point or more turn and as ever, Irish walls are a little unforgiving and I've got to have a little cosmetic re-adjustment done to the rear passenger door cosmetics No rush though . I'm a little knackered still I'm sure no other car can deliver the comfort and serenity, quiet confidence and excellence of mind restfulness that the Ls400 can .... let alone supreme driver comfort from any or many hours of sitting in the armchair relaxing driving at peace with the world ...... and Ireland Malc

the grey area comes if the whole system is uncertified, in most cases it is because the tow bar doesn't fit without cutting the bumpers on the 'sport models' for example you can make a certified tow bar bit a certified chassis, ie IS250/ISF just by cutting your bumper, there will be no issues

I did look into a tow bar for mine, I was led to believe that no tests had been carried out on the ISF for towing, was told that insurance could be “void” if an accident occurred was also under the impression that a “bespoke” one would be required. Didn’t think the IS tow bar was compatible, I was considering a complete detachable one so no evidence of fitment would have been visible.....I could have been mislead 🤔

Give me a week or so then I will report back… I have put it in my outlook calendar for the 24th. One way or other I will tell it how I feel/see it

Yes @Big Rat how the prices vary. As you know I went to look at the 2012 red car In Stoke non franchise dealer reduced to £22.500 recently. (they have had it since June). Mechanically tight but needed paint on nearly every panel so reluctantly I walked away. Im talking to Lexus Edinburgh about the Blue 2012 car and that's £29.995. surfer turned contributor

As promised, news of the next Lexus track action! State-side, the IMSA Weathertech series returns with the Motul Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. This a 10 hour race and my interest will be piqued by the two RC-Fs of 3GT Racing (competing in the GTD category). Coverage on imsa.tv starts runs between 10:55 AM to 9:05 PM EDT, which means ready for a 1605 kick-off UK time, and be aware this is on Saturday afternoon; if you tune in on Sunday afternoon you will be disappointed! The very short GTD qualifying session will be tomorrow (Friday) between 3:55 PM and 4:10 PM EDT, so 2055 UK time and will also be streamed on the imsa.tv website. Good luck Lexus and 3GT Racing!

I guess I'm a stalker but that sounds negative, A surfer perhaps less so? Im in the market to buy and find the forum a goldmine of info in the search for the right one. Particular thanks to @Big Rat When I buy I'm sure I will move towards contributor but in the mean time I remain an occasional surfer.

there would be no issues, whilst still under EU law there is still an equivalency policy, ie IS250 etc are allowed to tow therefore it can carry over if the fundamental structure is the same, key driver being the weight of the vehicle and in this case the ISF is heavier than that of the homologated vehicles so more favourable

Welcome Sami. I too have a GS450 like yours and it’s a great car. I like the alloy wheels on your car and I bet they are easier to clean than mine! From your last picture it looks like you have drilled brake discs/rotors. Mine are vented but not drilled. Was this a modification you made or was that what it was like when you bought it? @Bluethunder It certainly does have one Nean I spoke with the owner as someone pm me about the car, he used it to pull his jet ski apparently, these cars were never holmigated to tow in the Uk I don’t know about other markets where they were sold. Maybe @ColinBarber can throw some light on that. He bought the car from Lexus Derby and had it for 5 years with nay a problem...... I don’t know anymore Scottish......☺️ Big Rat

Many thanks to all who engaged it the Forum discussions about the “Kill switch in a Lexus hybrid as a kill switch to stop theft” and after reading about the “Autowatch Ghost CANbus Immobiliser” and spent many hours thinking about it (MANY THANKS MATT8) I have decided to have it fitted I think it’s worth the £400 on a car of this value. Fitting on Monday.

The high mileage one you mentioned even has a tow bar! Not seen one on a F before..

Gentlemen and ladies ................... the 5 pints of Guinness were only imbibed with no fear of driving afterwards ................. the traditional Live Band music was just brilliant too .... what happens when the golden oldies playing in these groups vanish heaven only knows .. the bars will never be the same. As for my route, well, I just headed south for the East Coast route out of the Port of Dublin ( euro1.40 exit fee, I know not why ! ) which takes you on ordinary roads rather than that darned Toll Road/M'way whatever it is ........ these East Coast roads are a good start to your tour ............. then just head south, take your time, there are many coves and bits and bobs to see along the way ..... not least the sunrise over the sea at Dun Laogharie if you're on the overnight ferry that docks about 6am on a bright clear morning ............. a grand start to Ireland. Then just carry along the coast until your car fancies stopping for breakfast, coffee, lunch, coffee and more coffee ...... then about 4 or 5pm start looking out for a suitable b&b ........ there are plenty usually, most were quite good, some exceptionally so, rarely just ok. Irish hospitality abounds ..... take your time, take in the views and go back for more The Ring of Kerry I did twice, each ring takes a whole day, 125 miles of pure joy ........... stay in the same b&b for those two nights on each occasion , then there's no rush Then up the coast to Malin Head at the very Top of Ireland .... it's a very very very long and stunning coastal road ............. then down to Londonderry and for me a quite uncomfortable feeling in Northern Ireland, I don't know, it just felt scary seeing the graffiti, clear sectarianism stuff and British Army vehicles trundling around ......... not getting the same warm feeling from the locals and cafes and restaurants that I had in the Republic .. however, I travelled some 200 miles in NI and stayed at one night's b&b before heading back to Malin village ...... and continuing my tour of Ireland in a more calm and contented feeling ............. atmosphere ............ The 4 weeks passed well, brilliant all round ........... but I stayed mainly in the Republic ............ and I'll sure go back for a lot more of the same Cost, well, who worries about that .... you only live the once and your Ls will take you on many more excellent tours too ..... well fingers xd mine will me Malc Hope I haven't bored you all

I have really thought about doing a vlog of sorts but the black country accent sounds horrific on camera 😂 i will probably get it running 1st with just the base map then once all the kit is on and complete i will get it tuned

Nice update Rob. No matter what the obstacle you just overcome it. This build should have its own video channel. Will you run the car before adding the body kit or complete the whole thing before the launch?

With regards MOT and Batteries then the only thing that is checked is security and integrity. ie that it is securely fixed and is not leaking any fluids. paul m.

Definitely isn't bad consider the size of the engine and the weight of the car. The car has Michelin Primacy's on it at the moment I believe. I will have to check the exact variant next time I go out. I am not sure if it is the tyres but there seems to be quite a bit of road noise, so perhaps if anyone has any experience with the Michelins they can let me know if they have noticed the same thing.

On my 2016 RC one selects either left or right exterior mirror on the adjustment switch. If neither is selected nothing happens on selecting Reverse Also check that the mirror position when in Reverse has been set, otherwise they won't move! The mirror position when reverse is selected is relative to the 'normal' position.

I'm amazed you kept those weedy "meep-meep!" horns. They are terrible, the worse I've had on a car, and I've had a Marina! Then again, I guess you can let the turbocharged 2JZ do all the talking. 😁

Exactly as Lee says above - get a new battery and it'll be sorted. There's nothing special or difficult about changing the 12V battery so just do it yourself. I haven't got a 400h but I would imagine all you need is a 10mm spanner or socket to undo the + and - post clamps and something to undo any clamp or bracket securing the battery in place, then it's old battery out, new one in and Robert is your mother's brother - simples! EDIT - you may be getting your Amps and Volts mixed up. Below is a chart of battery voltages just for your info:

Codes P0420 and P0403 refer to the catalyst efficiency for cylinder bank one and bank two respectively. Part of the OBD2 standard is that the ECU has to be able to measure the efficiency of the cat and report any deviations, so the car has oxygen sensors before and after the first cat in the exhuast stream. The first O2 sensor measures the result of the combustion process and the ECU alters fuelling to suit. The O2 sensor after the cat checks the efficiency and that's what these codes refer to. It's unusual for both banks of a "V" configuration engine to report problems with cat efficiency simultaneously. Usually there's an air leak in the exhaust manifold that allows excess oxygen to enter the exhaust on one side and cause the efficiency code on that side to be thrown. It would be unusual and very unlucky for both cats to suddenly become inefficient both at the same time. If both banks report problems it's possible something upstream of the combustion process is causing the issue, so it's possible an air leak in the intake could be responsible, that would affect both banks simultaneously. It would really need some diagnosis to find out the cause. A decent diagnstic centre should be able to look at the figures coming out of the ECU via the OBD2 connector and narrow down the cause. I've seen it before on a car that I modified. The ECU couldn't cope with the amount of air entering the engine so the mixture was very lean, resulting in excess oxygen in the exhaust and tripping the cat efficiency code on the ECU.

Saying hello from the West country. Only owning a Yaris Mk2 currently but when I lived in the US I went to buy a new car in 1993. I tested the LS400 but settled on a Camry 2.2 which which I kept for 4 years, ever since that magical test drive I hunkered after the the clean design and quality of the LS400. All these years passed now and I think I am ready to own one.

Although the ECUs were in-cracked for years, there seems to be a lot of tuners offering IS250 mapping on another popular US based forum so I am guessing it must be very much possible now but haven't seen any UK companies offering the service. Gains would be minimal I imagine but throttle response and clever fuelling could certainly make the car feel different

Hi .. having done the research on Hybrid batteries before buying my first Lexus I was comfortable with the purchase as the Hybrid Health checks had all been done and failures are rare indeed ( although I doubt Lexus would admit otherwise ) so don't be put off my LS600 is / was 10 years old and no problems If your in the market for an LS600h RSR with 86k miles in superb condition .. I sold mine today to WEBUYANYCAR I think this site is owned by British Car Auctions so pick up a brochure and get yourself along there for a bargain .. Registration is HD08YYU .. to say I am a broken man is an understatement I absolutely LOVED that car 😧
