  2. @grantwils I turned off the flash on my phone camera and just took a quick picture, hoping to show you what a difference the LED interior lighting makes. Not sure I've captured it properly but it's the best I can do on my phone.

  3. AVERAGE 102mph and 109mph over 1,500 miles? And that's including being stuck behind caravans and up mountain passes? AVERAGE 70mph over 1,500 miles in the UK? Really. I would suggest your speedo needs recalibrating.

  4. Well put John! Exactly what i thought and probably should have commented at the time on the phone. If that was the case I would probably re-consider buying a Lexus!!

  5. 4 Lexus breaking down in one weekend is as statistically likely as Accrington Stanley winning the FA Cup! Tell them to pull the other one Tim.

  7. thanks for all your support guys, much appreciated. At least I know other people also agree with me that Lexus are being extremely harsh with the way they are treating me. I have been on Twitter to vent my anger and Lexus have contacted me straight away and asked for my registration and claim number and stated they will get someone from customer relations to contact me. I have also emailed Paul Van Der Burgh and Richard Balshaw raising my concerns.

  8. I found this but it only relates to leaking oil after changing fluid. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-f-2008-2014/583285-isf-transmission-issue.html Seems that refilling the gearbox oil is a mega task in its own right. Seen a few posts about rusty cooler pipes on other lexus models. Found a pic as well

  9. I am in the process of locating an ecu for my car rather than mess with what is in the car albeit running badly. I have a mate who is a bit of a whiz with the electronics and will be doing the capacitor swap and then hopefully swap the reconditioned one with the faulty one. If all works out I will get him to recondition the other one as well (no good to you as my car is a 95) If you can wait a couple of weeks he may be able to do yours I will ask him when I see him. He is located in Rugby

  11. That's ridiculous - its not even two months overdue if you factor in that 12k is an annual mileage There's no service undertaken on the gearbox at service intervals so what's the basis of them thinking that the fault (or any fault) could be spotted at a service? As far as the box oil goes Lexus themselves state that is a sealed box - no need to change the oil - some will, some wont. I would consider another dealer to see what they say regarding the warranty work! SHAME ON LEXUS - especially as you have the warranty

  13. Hi Phil, I have removed one side of my rear seats and your mechanic will need three weetabix when he does take the seat out. There is a reasonable Youtube video showing the process. The base comes out first and relies on two locating wire loops in the seat base frame. The loops push into white plastic inserts. It's hard to pull the cushion up without bending the wire framing on either side of the cushion, however when it's put back you will need to support the cushion from underneath first and push down firmly on either side. This action will ensure the seat cushion wire frame will bend back down and sit level with the centre cushion. One wire is disconnected for the heated seat and then you have to tackle the upper seat. Two bolts at the base of the frame, 2 seat belt bolts and a ducting tube if you have air con rear seats need to be unbolted/disconnected. The seat frame can then be lifted upwards and hooked out of the two brackets. Very heavy. The wiring loom needs to be disconnected and be careful there is a separate yellow air bag wire too, (suggest you disconnect the battery and wait 20 mins to discharge any residual current for the air bag) If the wiring is left connected the best thing to do is support the seat frame after you tilt it forward while the top mounting plate is tackled. Three nuts and a wiring connector. The top plate can be seen with the seat out , just under the rear parcel shelf. Not sure if the shelf does need to come out fully to deal with a top bush. Hope this helps

  15. If there isn't no doubt GROM do one. I fitted a GROM AUX doo daa to the headunit in my 2002 IS a couple of weeks ago and it sounds great. Much better than streaming Bluetooth to my ears. On mine it connects to the unused CD autochanger socket on the back. I'd imagine it's a similar set up on yours? http://gromaudio.co.uk/partfinder/product/list/?make=Lexus&model=RX&year=2007-2009

  17. 1. No idea. I know there isn't one on my 2005 RX300 but yours is 2 years younger and a different model, so maybe, I don't know. 2. Certainly not, that would just be SO vulgar! I'm only joking of course, but honestly, if you wanted engine sounds you probably should have gone for one of the sportier Lexus cars rather than an RX that truly is meant to be quiet refinement. 3. I changed all the interior festoon bulbs (both front and back dome lights and all the door/boot/tailgate lights) for LEDs. I think these are the ones I used the C3W ones at 31mm long. It's been over a year since I did them so I can't swear to it but I'm 95% sure they're the ones. You'll find that they fit alright in the dome lights but they're just ever so slightly too long for the door/boot/tailgate housings, so you've just got to slightly bend the contacts in those housings to make the LED bulb fit. Take your old one out and measure it first though, like I said, it's been more than a year since I did mine.

  19. Morning All, So just got the last box of three from RR-Racing this morning! Just checking I got everything I needed for the s/c install, plus the bits for you lot. Appears like I have 4 sets of USRS plus the two camber arms for Etienne, does that stack up with orders placed? Only ask as I got 5 sets of instructions?! Will ask each of you to PM me your address details unless you plan to collect in person, know Matt mentioned he’d do it that way. I’ll need to get them boxed up for you this week, and hopefully up to the Post Office on Saturday morning. Cheers one and all. Pete

  22. The selling rule should always be first to come with the readies gets it! I have waited for people to view and then they did not turn up! Not even a call to say they were not coming. It depends on the manner and attitude of the buyer to be honest. Good luck, but strike while the iron is hot! If it is a good one it will sell quickly - this applies to most models.

  25. I have done some calculations for theoretical speed against engine revs. With MG1 being held stationary and the engine doing 6500 rpm the top speed would be 152 mph. If MG1 is driven in reverse the theoretical top speed for 6500 rpm is well in excess of 200 mph without over revving of any component. This of course makes the assumption that the engine has sufficient power which it does not. John.

  26. As I said, my tyres get me up and down my hill and lots of others so I really don't need to concern myself with convincing anyone else. I also referenced the stopping power of the tyres which for me was a deal breaker, before the winters were fitted I had a bit of a moment with my son who was one at the time when the LS slid onto the main road on snow/ice at the bottom of the hill and I narrowly avoided a juggernaut that was approaching, since the figment of the tyres I have never had a problem stopping there although my wife in her 4x4 does. Andrew Frankel illustrates this in the video and that is at 20mph, at higher speeds the difference would be even greater. I really like the confidence they give me. As Malc has said, best option is to leave the car on the drive in such conditions but that is really difficult with work commitments and getting kids to and from school etc. I must admit that when it is really heavy snow I will deliberately take the car out a bit later in the evening just to marvel at what it can do on the tyres because it seems a bit unreal that a rwd v8 can do what it does. Did get stuck once in some very deep snow in a Tesco car park but a quick dig out of some of the surrounding snow got me on my way, obviously if the snow is really deep the car struggles with the front spoiler getting dug in, I am sure some kind of snowplough adaption could be fitted which would overcome this but not even my love of the winter tyres or the snow would tempt me to try that one!

  28. @DAW David couldn’t agree more they do seem to rely on more on the Toyota aspect here, we don’t get to see the big boy Lexus race stuff here, accepting there isn’t a race series here like the states japan and Europe, shame. Big Rat

  30. Also worth remembering that Lexus do a paint protection film for the rear as well so you could get one of those if you wanted and they should keep it scratch free

  31. Hi all, New to the forum and new to RC-F ownership so Hi to all I've been reading a number of threads on here with a great deal of interest. I have to say I'm delighted that I'm now owning a car that polarises opinion! I've just come out of ownership of 3 years of a C63 and whilst some on here have already testified, it is a great car, yes probably is quicker from the low to mid range, but I've realised that I was taking pleasure in my C63 from the comfort of external opinions, nods, glances which were all positive, taking comfort in the fact it was widely lauded as being one of the best V8's you can buy, but as I've got over that excitement through ownership, I've realised it also is very much about the experience of the interior too and with that I was bored with the C63. Personally I think the interior in the Lexus is fantastic, and the build quality far superior to the C63. Equally I'd discounted an M3 due to a boring and lacklustre interior. The Lexus just has that little bit extra pazzaz that I've felt has been missing from owning a C63. I enjoyed the attention I got in the Merc, but having now moved to the RC-F can see far more interest from people in this car due to it's rarity. As others have said I see no reason why that wouldn't contribute to a stabilisation and potential increase in value, when most owners acknowledge the car grows on you. I'm bored to be honest with what I feel are journo's fixations on track driving, lap times round the ring, when we all drive cars on the road 99% of the time, and our experience of our cars is how they make us feel, and the emotion they generate both by their exterior but also interior look and feel. The driving experience is subjective, but any 450bhp coupe is going to feel fast up to "normal" road speeds. I've had just as much interest in the car, with the looks, glances and question marks in peoples heads over what it is, then reminded myself I'm also sat in just an exclusive and fresh environment on the inside with gasps when they realise Lexus made V8's. You don't get that owning a BMW or a Merc! As I say the pull for me is the surprise the car gives me and others on the perceived opinions of what a Lexus "is" Enjoying the experience so far! Cheers Matt

  32. Hi Guys, So, good news is I'm pulling the trigger on my supercharger kit. Apparently RR-Racing will have the bits together for me next week, so will ship it over once after that. Better news for you lot, should be room in my supercharger boxes for the USRS kits, so Simon will put those in to arrive with the supercharger kit. Current order is for 3 kits in total, so anyone else wanting in has a week's grace to place their order, and get the discount using the code 'USRSUKDEAL' at the checkout on RR-Racing's website. Once the kit arrives and clears Customs etc, will be in touch with each of you for address details so I can whip them up to my local Post Office to send out. Cheers all. Pete

  33. Right guys, Lexus UK have rejected the claim on the warranty. they are saying as my last service was not done at 10k but at 12k, they refuse to cover any warranty work. I stated to the dealer that they have been servicing my car since 2014 and it was only slightly late on this occasion. However Lexus Bradford refuse to budge and have just redirected me to the Warranty department. I tried to call them but they are closed. I stated to the dealers that there was nothing wrong with the car when I had it last serviced by them a few weeks ago so therefore I do not feel it is fair that Lexus are trying to get out of paying for the repair. I have been told at this stage it is the oil cooler and some other part (to be honest I was not listening properly by this stage as I was fuming to say the least) The cost of repair is £900. Lexus Bradford should have warned me at the time I got my car serviced that it may affect the warranty as I have gone over 2k in miles and I could have then purchased the warranty elsewhere! I have not had a good experience with Lexus over the last few days and this has just really wound me up!!!
