Hi I purchased a black IS 300h F Sport in April. It's covered just 40k miles but I've never been happy with the paint work. Swirls in the sun and lots of minor scratches. Anyway to cut a long story short I went to a local detailing company and thought I'd share the pics with you. They had the car for a day and a half. They clay bared the car first, then set about the enhancement. To finish they used a sealant, and did the wheels also. They only charged me £180 and Im sure you will agree it's an amazing job. The last pic shows you a 50/50 shot on the boot lid as they were carrying out the work.7 points

This person decided to test the reserve range but cleverly kept near to the pump... 😂5 points

Ok, at the end of the day I've just come on here to share my result and for anyone out there not too happy with the paint work it's a great fix. So far you've told me to remove my chip guard, said the products are just ok better out there, told me it will be back to how it was in 6 months, anyone would think you can't be happy for me. We bought my wife's brand new its black also and nearly 2 years on looks brill. I'm very strict with my cleaning technic so I'm confident it will stay in great condition now it's in my ownership cheers5 points

Guys with the new discount voucher just got from them front and rear discs/pads all Brembo with the vat came to £332.00. Lexus want that just to supply and fit front pads. Big Rat4 points

As I said just yesterday in a different topic, the main reason for not running the petrol tank dry is that in petrol injection systems the fuel pump is actually inside the fuel tank and is cooled and lubricated by the fuel itself - no fuel means no cooling or lubrication for the pump, possibly leading to other (no doubt expensive) problems. So when you say "but interested to know for sure how far it will go in an emergency" the best answer is to never find out - never let it get to that emergency situation. I would never let my cars get below 1/4 full.3 points

BOOM!,,,,,, It just got a whole lot easier.... just managed to bag a IS250 SE-L mm with black leather 37,000 miles & 7 Lexus Stamps, albeit in my least favourite colour (Silver) but wait for it......it's got a Sunroof (Moonroof according to Lexus) and although it has a few scars on the rear bumper ( fixable at the end of the day) what I could not resist was the fact it got ACC (Unicorn poop I'm lead to believe?) not got it yet but can't wait and will post some pics when able to. so Title should now read "Got there in the end " cheers paul m.3 points

At the end of the day mate, you're happy, you've not spent a fortune, and your car looks great, that's all that matters.3 points

Big Rat, if they do turn out to be copies I wouldn't hesitate to recommend MTEC offerings. ATB3 points

How far can an isf travel when the trip computer reads zero? I did about 10 miles today in heavy traffic with the gauge on empty and watched the fuel gauge drop well past the minimum level! 😮 Due to my cars, um, drinking problem I don't take any chances when it comes to refuelling but interested to know for sure how far it will go in an emergency 😀2 points

This thread started out in a friendly manner and then suddenly went into a nasty downward trend. We pride ourselves that this is a friendly forum and 99.99999% it is. We are all rightly welcome to our ideas and if you dont like what I use or my ideas then yes say so but in a friendly manner. Lets play friendly and if it isnt stopped I will lock the thread.2 points

Agreed much better to keep it out of the reserve, see cars all the time at work running on fumes, I don't understand it personally its like not use save money using the bottom half of the tank over using the top half? Apart from the very slight weight cost I guess. I tend to top up weekly but would be thinking of stopping at next station if I was getting to around 1/4 tank personally2 points

steady there boys ,the car looks great, period, your pleased with it . it looks fine to me ,so lets stay nice and friendly . this is an informative sight and lets not start getting shirty .everyones opinion counts, some are more informed than others share your knowledge to the rest of us mortals .2 points

That is interesting opinion and I quite like your reasoning as well. This actually make me to reconsider my approach as I always run well into reserve. I would say on average I put 20 miles into reserve (don't try on IS-F!) and I was doing it for 40k miles on IS250. I have't had any problem with fuel pump, but have twice ran out of fuel (luckily both times ~100 meters from petrol station). I kind of did it to fully cycle fuel in the tank, but your reasoning makes sense, thought 1/4 tanks is quite a lot, but I guess I am at least going to stop driving on reserve.2 points

@Rusty Crobar Such a bad boy can't push an isF for two reasons.... Its Auto It weighs more than @Flytvr list of I'm not happy with Mr Lexus dealers 😂 🐀2 points

Having now conversed with a couple of highly recommended installers I can confirm that both agree engines with direct injection are problematic for LPG conversion. The consensus seems to be that even when running on LPG a small amount of petrol is injected through the DI injectors to help cool them. This means some of the gains from LPG are lost, but it still may be viable. John.2 points

Got my brembo discs from ECP and they were genuine 🖒 Always interested in better alternatives though, anyone tried other brands?2 points

The stand changed from Toyota to Lexus last year and always had an upstairs lounge with a very nice balcony. Shame they got rid of it - I certainly missed the hospitality this year.2 points

I went on the Thursday and Friday. Always a spectacular event and it's good to see Lexus finally showing their cars. For years I wrote to Lexus marketing once or twice a year urging them to take a stand at Goodwood. Doubt my emails ever registered but good to see them there. Now if they would just do an upstairs lounge for Lexus owners, life would be perfect2 points

Hi i live in Stoke on trent. I used a company called auto brite direct. They make all there own products including polishers etc. There products are all used by prefessionals, they have so many to choose from it's crazy. Worth every penny though. They will also teach you how to clean a car properly, it's certainly opened my eyes but everyone comments how well the car looks .2 points

To be fair, Lexus aren't the only manufacturer with unreliable diesel models. The Ford Focus TDCi has a loads of reported issues, whereas the petrol variants are solid and reliable motors.2 points

Once again, you've all missed @Rusty Crobar's real reason for running the tank low. Just like a formula one car, Rusty's car is fuelled for the optimum.... lap.... I mean, traffic light getaway. @Big Rat uses a different fuelling strategy. His car will always have sufficient fuel to get to the next cake & coffee shop!1 point
-
It's a matter of convenience, really. I normally buy V-Power and have to go out of my way to access a Shell station, so I invariably wait until I have to get fuel.1 point
-
I run mine 'till the light comes on (circa 20-30mls range left). There's still quite a lot of fuel left at this point. Somewhere between 5-10 litres.1 point

@NemesisUK How right you are matey I've reserved them today while I'm up in Chester with friends, the eurocarparts northern supply depot is near our Hotel, I'm going over in the morning with a knowledgeable friend to see. Its amazing these companies still do this stuff, still I suppose business is business my boy 😏 Its why I don't do mail order for this kind of stuff as well. Big Rat1 point

lol nah, you can see marks on the protectors where stones have hit them so they are staying. Also I never said auto brite were the best but from what I've used over the years, they are giving me the best results currently and I've used a hell of a lot of products. She will look mint for years now 😉1 point

No, they're like DFS, there's always a sale on. And on the one day there isn't a sale on just phone up and they'll give you a discount code.1 point

Nice result, car looks amazing!!! I had my XF detailed at Auto Detox in Tamworth. Think it cost me £200 and although expensive no doubt, the results were amazing. Cleaning the car was so much easier after and water just beaded off anyway. If I keep my NX I'm going to get that done too. I too now use the two bucket method and use a pre-wash foam to lift the dirt and use microfibre towels to dry the car. I always scoffed at people doing this but I can now see it does work and keeps swirls to a minimum, something I have to do with my car which is a dark metallic blue. It felt awkward when I first started doing it but it's now second nature. Awesome result Carl, your car looks amazing.1 point

Yes, FK1000P and Fusso on wheels will need some agitation - as with any other wheel sealant that is not a coating. Hybrids don't spew out as much brake dust as conventional cars so results can be skewed. I think you're probably better off going with the C5 (other manufacturers do make wheel coatings as well).1 point

I certainly don't agree with this post. Firstly, my IS does not have what I would describe as crashy suspension, even with 17" wheels. Second, I dispute that newer automatically means better. Does this mean I also cannot afford a current generation IS?1 point

Anybody who has a car serviced at lexus that is not under warranty has more money than sence. I've just had a minor service at a local garage with extras including aircon regas, brake fluid flush and all caliper slide pins regressed and a new air and cabin filter for £189.1 point

I hadn't realised that the spare wheel well could carry so many litres. That'd pretty much double the cars range. Good call, my previous car carried sealant and a compressor instead of a spare and thankfully we never needed to use it. So we probably saved a few quid not hauling around a spare over the years. Spare wheels are often dropped in order to get the vehicle stat's inline with the latest reg's. Good luck making progress with this. Beware tho, Robb will want you to start a mod thread ;)1 point

Toyota / Lexus hybrids make all sorts of noises after they've been switched off. My wife's Auris HSD does a lovely impression of a ZX Spectrum loading, along with clunks bangs and whirrs. The GS seems to have a more limited repertoire, but it still vocalises. Nothing to worry about - "they all do that, sir."1 point

The Legnum/Galant - they are super cars. Had 5 Galants over the years. The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross looks like an NX/RX! Talk about pinch the styling!1 point
