We might need a new venue as the manager of the beefeater had his car written off as @Warrington guy and @Rusty Crobar left the car park... MOV_0038.mp43 points

Had carpets out on Thursday. Full rinse down with cold water in the garden to remove initial dirt Deep shampoo with high quality carpet shampoo and degreaser Rinse through repeated as above until water running clear from carpet and sound absorption material. Final rinse with very hot water. Above washing time in total. 120 Minutes. Drip dry Then hung in small room with heater and dehumid. Carpets hopefully going back in today. Will take some pics of re-installation. Word to the wise - if you ever have a substantial ingress of water into your RX enough that it affects the sound absorption material under the carpet I would urge you to remove and dry the carpet properly. Put it this way, it's taken 3 days of drying in a 90 degree room with a de humid on flat out to fully dry that sound absorption material it's so thick. If like me you initially thought it would dry out naturally in the car whilst running around with the heaters on then you are very much mistaken, as I was. As well as noting there are no natural vent areas on the floor pan coupled with the fact the carpet is polyurethane/similar backed means almost zero possibility for moisture to escape adequately enough. No wonder it was so stagnant.3 points

and it's a bit different, integrated within the main Lexus website. Biggest issue I can see so far is it requires you to verify ownership of the vehicle by quoting some info from the V5. For those with lease/company vehicle without access to the V5, that will prove difficult........ on the up side, once you've done that you should then be able to see the full service history of the car - provided the dealer has updated it!2 points

Dealers are a hit n miss in my opinion. Iv always used Birmingham as my local.. never had a issue, did what had to be done on all my Lexus's, and provided good service. But when i went 3 weeks ago to look at a car i was refused a test drive. The sales man went to get the keys for a white is300h, got the trade plates, took my details. The moment my mrs said she prefers black he told me the car has not been in the workshop so i cant test drive it. Was a pee'd off a little. Ended up picking my GS300h F Sport yesdterday from Sheffield Lexus.2 points

Quite possibly the most detailed advert I've ever seen. She must repeat every aspect about a dozen times......needed a drink after reading it all. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142315862937 Make sure you're sitting comfortably.1 point

Not sure the wife would buy that haha! She's looking forward to 2 weeks of cocktails by the pool. I can't say I blame her as she found out she was pregnant 2 weeks before our honeymoon in Jamaica, she was eating for 2 whilst I was drinking for 2 😉1 point

After I believe I have now fixed a surprise and hopefully final leak (alt thread here) I've prepared the car for a good return to it's better self tomorrow and will start getting the carpet in and then putting everything else back in. Floor pan has been washed and scrubbed then once dry I went over it with some freshening deodorising spray. It didn't smell but I wanted to get it fresh from the ground up. The drain plugs dotted around were all pulled and washed in warm soapy water then dried and touched up with a spot of silicone lubricant to help longevity and avoid them drying out. Will post more pics as I go hopefully. Now is that a good looking floor pan or what..?!1 point

Hi Chesterman Thanks, do you know if the scuttle has specific drain tubes? I can't seem to locate any, it just seems to empty itself out around arches/body in a mildly controlled fashion. Further, after extensive experimenting today I am more inclined to believe it was the rack seals. I pulled a bit of the headliner and it was wet right under the front rack seal area. Thing is the car is parked in an incline so the drivers side was sitting lower than the passenger side if that makes sense. I feel the water may have tracked from the front rack seal down the A-pillar, down side of the dash and dripped where pictured above. Since doing the seals I have had the garden hose on every extremity possible, paying major attention to the windscreen seal areas, front scuttle (filled it up so much it was like a swimming pool) front door seals, front wing, sunroof, newly done rack seals etc etc and not a drop inside now. Really hoping it was the seals - as whole lotta work getting this car & carpet spick and span that I don't wanna put the carpet back in with a known leak and be back to square one again!1 point

I would say similar except, 06 Lexus with such mileage would be probably like £2-3k Tax is: £295 (495 is manual, but F-sports never had manuals) Insurance ... well it depends: starts at £300... and goes up up to £10000-20000. Say if you are 17 and you just got license and you live in big city like London, Insurance companies either won't insure you or it will be something astronomical. IS250 maybe not good example, but once I tried get insurance for Toyota Supra when I was 22.. and it was £36000/year... When I told guy over the phone he is mad.. he was like "well if you don't want don't buy it... aka you know you have no choice". I must admit it i surprisingly expensive in Finland.... So UK might not be that bad.. but there is other difference, you will pay everywhere in UK as car owners are not welcome.. plenty of all kinds of traps and you have your mailbox full of PCNs (that is short for fines). I just got one few weeks ago claiming I ignored "no-left turn sign" and they even attached the video showing me to turning right... yes right! that why I said (after looking to the same car):1 point
-
That is because this car is out of the budget for any 7 years old IS250, you can get 2014 IS300h for £1k extra. Not that I prefer IS300h over IS250, I am just saying this car is well too expensive. Point 2... maybe for some unreliable car it matters, but 30k for IS250 is nothing, even 80k is nothing, so why not to save £3k and get yourself same car with maybe 45k miles for £8-9k... it is beyond me. To summarise - this car is "average nice", but for the price it is non-seller no matter how much standard equipment seller lists.. thanks god she didn't start like "the car has 5 high tensile steel nuts holding each rim....."1 point
-
Thanks Linas Its sometimes bad to know so much. Had I been an average brit, wouldn't even have a clue and not worry about this issue. I couldn't watch him justify how broken clips didn't matter... All coming to mind was how the hell did I fell for insurance and if there is a way to bring this whole system down to its knees. I am a strong opponent of insurance. I think thieves run it and thieves claim it. Paying 2k for what... then paying excess on top of it. And other folks in this paying 300 and claiming thousands.. A joke and a half and some more. Rant over.1 point

Took delivery of the GS yesterday, im really very impressed with the drive, very comforting and a pleasure to drive back to birmingham. Mrs drove half way back and was also impressed with its power for a hybrid. I like the mouse cursor feedback (how it changes from free flowing on some options to small click on slecting address letters) Overall another great experience buying from Lexus dealers.1 point

I suppose he sold it back to you coz he couldn't cope with the 4 ltr power in those congested roads we see ...... parking and traffic jams were probably the main issue Malc1 point

Agreed, trying to sell the mod would be rejected, but sharing the knowledge etc, that's fine as the site is full of it (how to info that is).1 point

Hi Farqui, no the Jaguar business trays were not a £2300 cost option if you ordered them from new and fitted by the factory. The cost option was around £700 and were available in burr walnut or burr elm wood veneers only. If you do anything retrospective and use a dealer to source the parts the cost rockets. Two new seat backs were special order, one came from the USA and the other came from Germany using Jaguar world wide parts sourcing, something that dealers have access to only. Two new subframes were also required which bolt to the seat frame itself. The seat backs and subframes came to £2000 incl vat and that was after the dealer gave me 10% discount so still very costly items to fit after the car was originally built. The actual veneered tables were bought second hand on e bay for £300, ridiculously cheap given that they are £500 each as they come in about 7 pieces. Pity Lexus don't do anything at all apart from the centre console pull out tray system on some later models of the LS600 with the full relaxation seat package.1 point

I have read that thread. Not a good show at all. But in this case, I can't imagine it being a problem? Perhaps message Mike and see what their position on this is? I am sure there are many people on here who would be very thankful for your efforts.1 point

It seems like ages since the first race at Daytona, but this weekend it is the second round of the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship. After going in at the deep end with 24 Hours at round 1, it should be a breeze for the GTD spec Lexus with only 12 hours to complete at Sebring! Not really of course; aside from the regular hazards of endurance racing, the Sebring track is notoriously harsh and they'll need to ride like an LS400 if they aren't to be shaken to bits. Plus of course, the ambient temperature will be higher than they were at Daytona but it won't necessarily be any drier! American team 3GT Racing will again be running two Lexus RC-F GT3, hopefully boosted by a change in their Balance Of Perfomance figures. So while they must carry 10kg more ballast they will gain 2mm on their intake restrictors and they will refuel quicker thanks to a 2mm larger filler restrictor. In addition, their fuel capacity has been increased by 2 litres, which doesn't sound much but could mean an extra lap on track just when you need it. You can read a testing report here (with some nice shots of the RC-F): http://www.sportscarillustrated.com/News_2017/C/news17C_0214_IMSA_Sebring_Test_Lexus.html For Twitterers, 3GT Racing is here: https://twitter.com/3GT_Racing?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Race start is at 10:40 a.m. on Saturday local time. Streaming coverage should be available at: http://imsatv.imsa.com Elsewhere, exciting news that Emil Frey (they of the XK8 GT3 cars) and Farnbacher Racing (already experienced with the RC-F elsewhere) will each be entering an RC-F each into the GT Open Series in Europe. GT Open is a lower-key but still international GT series; I've watched quite a bit of it in the past but it always feels one step down from the Blancpain Series, just a little bit disappointing. However, it is a start for Lexus on the European tour and the effort should benefit from the associated Farnbacher work in the VLN (big domestically but not known much outside Germany) and from the two-heads-are-better-than-one of two experienced teams. I would highly recommend you to go through the buyers guide on the forum which points out common faults and what to look out for etc. Parts and labour are usually very expensive at dealers but the diy guides on here will save you a fortune.1 point
