Have to say combining the 'f' models in to one forum would be a good start. If just to encourage more activity. I found myself on the yank forum a lot but that's ok. It would just be nice to have a more active 'f' forum here. I know many are sceptical about meets but it makes a big difference to the ownership experience for enthusiasts. Speaking with like minded folk and putting faces to forum names etc People seem to find them awkward and may be unwilling to attend but they are always pleased once they do. It takes activity and willingness to participate to get things going and keep them going. It will ebb and flow but this place is good and has friendly people so it's all good.

I have been a customer of Lexus Chester since 2004, through IS200, IS 300 Sportcross, RX400, ISC250, CT200 and IS300h. The dealership is far and away the best of the many I have encountered in over 45 years of motoring and I would include all the staff as none of them are anything less than friendly, enthusiastic & efficient and all go out of their way to look after us. Yes, I've had to complain once or twice over the 12 years but the response has always been immediate and entirely satisfactory. I can quote many examples of their outstanding service, like the first time I took my IS200 ( bought second hand) for a routine service. When I collected it I was informed that they had observed corrosion on the alloy wheels and had replaced them all under warranty. I had noticed only some minor black stains on a couple of the wheels but had not thought to report it. A week later I was astonished when I opened the boot and discovered that they had also replaced the (used) spare wheel as well! I would buy elsewhere if the standard isn't maintained but I see no signs of this at all.

I have found Lexus Chester to be good, bought my first Lexus from then and use them for servicing. My current IS I got as an ex demonstrator from Lexus Stoke. However I will never go back to them as I felt ripped off. Not even given a full tank of petrol when I picked it up.

I've just remembered, I also took the IS200 back because the 'pop out' head light washer jets weren't 'popping out'. They promptly took the car into the workshop, and told me they'd have a look immediately. 10 minutes later, they returned the car and told me they've got them working. I asked what was wrong with them, ...... My washer fluid was low.

I've ordered two new IS's in the last 20 months from them, Alan and Jason sorted me with the first one for the Mrs and both of them we're superb. Last September I picked up the second and was looked after by Wayne, had some good chats with him, mostly non purchase related and he was a great bloke. I've had a few calls from him to see how things are going. Admittedly, I've had nothing go wrong with either of the cars yet so not had to get back in touch but I feel confident things would get sorted promptly. When I purchased my first IS200 in 2001 from them I did have a few things that required attention that always got done promptly under warranty. It had a leaking water bypass pipe that was replaced, a new set of wheels due to corrosion, 3, yes 3 new radio/cd players (the 6cd multi changer was problematic back then) and then I had some paint complaints sorted too. Now a little story. The winter of 2002 I skidded on black ice off a dual carriageway and smashed it through somebody's garden wall at 6 o'clock in the morning. When I called the RAC they asked where they should take it, I asked them to dump it at Lexus in Chester as it was undrivable and I didn't want to get it moved twice ( I was only in my twenties then so didn't know what to do with it). Now, I'd love to have seen the face on the first person that went into work that morning at the relatively new dealership and seen a 2 year old IS smashed up. I gave them a quick phone call in the morning when it opened and although they didn't have a body shop repair facility, they assisted getting it sorted at one of there authorised repair facilities with the insurance. Somewhere, on an old memory card, I still have the photos of the crash, I'll have to dig them out, I think the repair bill was somewhere in the region of £9K. Back in 2002 that was a lot of money. So, I can't complain really with the service from them.

That's a good point, still my younger days of racing around are well behind me, i prefer calm and comfort nowadays. Boot will also carry 4 beehives, I have checked! I never quite get road testers who complain one car is a half second slowerround a circuit than another, TBH, who the heck can take a car to thje limit in this day and age. Nearly every car made today is actually pretty amazing compared to the cars i grew up with. Best car I have ever owned in 40 years of driving was my Lexus IS300 Sportcross, if this RX can come close I will have won the lottery. My C Cl;***** estate was not a bad car, did everything well, it just didn't do anything for me, i just love my wife's CT200h despite all the press hype. Corrosion on/in the vaporiser and the time/cost of someone else dismantling / cleaning out the heavy ends and replacing diaphrams is probably a higher cost than replacing the Vaporiser. ( assuming they do the job which you can't tell as its internal) A diaphram kit is about £28. The Labour cost ? What did the last overhall cost you John? Its not difficult to replace the unit as long as its the same spec. A Vaporiser has an LPG inlet pipe, outlet pipe and two Water hoses. They only have to Clamp the water hoses, slow release of the gas pipe from the Solenoid (gas and engine off obviously) Keep track of the exact screw positions on the old one so that they are copied on the new. A bit of fine tuning may be needed?. There is a diagnostic plug for a computer read out Personally I'd insist on a replacement Vaporiser rather than a kit change. Check out the price. You then know its been done. I think I deleted my heavy ends photo's which might have been of interest.. I'll have a look.

Yes Jason, you get the HUD as standard on the Premier ; it is a cost option on every other variant. I chose not to have it when specing my new RX recently. Personally i felt it is a gizmo I could well do without, espicially given it was about one grand.

I loose the secondary intake noise too on my K&N typhoon intake. But get the V8 growl right through the revs . Sound amazing but that's only my opinion

My wife would probably tell you it knocked some sense into me, bur clearly it didn't as I'm on my third LS since it happened! It was nasty though as it was the corner of the bonnet that hit me.

Have used Lexus Bristol for almost 10 years and 5 new cars and have no negative words to say about them. Always excellent service.

Yep definitely not recommending swapping components out without diagnosing the root cause. That would be a last resort. i don't believe Lexus suffers from the appalling and often invisible electrical issues that plague the S Type Jag....

Thank goodness you are okay Phil, that happened to me many times. Unfortunately looks like the struts will have to wait for today because I am helping the folks cook a christmas meal for tomorrow night! We'll be using the red lex with the good struts though, so that means no concussions on Christmas Eve, ha ha!, and the gold lexus gets a break from the rain and mud around here. Alex

These were my preferred choice to the 93 originals. They are Borbet and come of (I think) an IS200 ?? So original Lexus wheels with centre piece. Loving them and the only part of the car that gets washed more than once a year.

I have used both Lexus Edgware Road and Reading and have found them both to be excellent so far. Edgware Road especially went above and beyond helping fix a problem I was having that wasn't their fault to begin with. Got really first rate customer service from everyone who worked there.

If it is any help, I did a post on fitting a replacement mirror glass (LS400 Mk 3 Replacement Mirror Glass, September 13 2014). This involved replacing the original glass with a heated eBay mirror glass which I had bought and the glass was replaced rather than the new glass being stuck on top of the old one.

Is the fuel 6 month old in it, or did you put in some fresh? It'd be worth sticking some new plugs in and an air filter too. Might also be worth investing in a new battery, a flat 6 month old one would be past it's sell by date. Try and get the basics into a good condition first and then it'd make fault finding a bit easier.

I'd say 90% it's in Normal mode the the occasional blast in Sport. I don't drive it like a hybrid and if it runs on electric then it's a bonus. I read up on this on the Prius forum. If you always keep in electric you won't get good mpg. It's true as when I first got it I was paranoid about trying to pulse and glide all the time and the mpg was always very low 40,s. Agreed. This is my first exposure to this type of automatic transmission, coming from the common brake-band/clutch type. The eCVT is so smooooth, then add the artificially created ratios in Sport mode, best of both worlds. Plus must be more reliable, easily maintained considering there's no engaging, disengaging of cogs or friction bands

I'll just add that the Lexus CTV is an amazing transmission, I just cannot understand why people try to avoid it.

Thanks for the replies chaps. The replacement I fitted from a spare mirror I had is not too bad as it is only cracked in two places and really only noticeable from certain angles. When it gets too bad I will try a stick on replacement that I found on Ebay, says it's heated too.

as above. Anything with an h at the end (i.e a hybrid) has a CVT, all non-hybrids have auto transmissions.

CT's are pads & disks on rear. I've never had this issue on mine & it's now 5 years old. I park on a inclined drive also.

I had the same problem on my 97/400 the whole mirror was damaged works and all, I went local lexus for info, they tried to find one for me but nothing available in the U.K. so the next step was Lexus in Japan, as my car was a 97 model they had to make a new one, because of the age they had finished that style anyway they made one for me and sent it to lexus in E.Port ----cost £400 a bit expensive but who cares.

When I bought mine early this year it had a very dark nearside mirror, I bought one from a breakers which turned out not to have the original glass so that went back. I then bought a stick on one for £9 but managed to get the black edging to cover it so it looks fine. It still heats up, just takes slightly longer but not much. It's a bit dirty today but this is it in place. And obviously it isn't self dimming but better than the £250 I was quoted for a genuine replacement.

With respect Rayaan but i dont think you can be the judge for other people in deciding what what is good or bad. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and so on, and what you think is ugly or fits in your bad taste category can be the opposite for other members of the club. Me personally would never order an orange Lexus but i just smile seeing one, i respect the owner for ordering it. Same with the Wald kits, some are maybe over the top but i like to see them on the road, it brings color to a bland landscape of grey and silver cars. I just admire the individualism and i do think people ordering motorcars like that follow their own taste and they like the look of what they order. I respect your taste ( have to have same car and color haha) so please pay some respect to members that have a slightly different taste then you. PS i also like the Juke!

Rear lip spoiler, huge front splitter, wider wheel arches, side skirts, rear diffuser, big 22 inch wheels and WALD Black Bison badging on the back! The NX F-Sport looks nice from factory, start sticking this onto it and it looks like a drug dealers car.

Looks outrageous and has no place on a Lexus - Leave those to the ricers and the BMWs Cant imagine it'd be shy of £5k just for the bodykit as well. Wheels will be circa £3k on top..

Just a thread following on from DanD's thread on Solar Flare being made available for the NX F-Sport. The F-Sport also has an option of black leather seats with red inserts and stitching which was available in other markets but not the UK: The F-Sport also has an option of the "Premier Pack" costing £5750.
