  1. I wouldn't even consider putting anything in front of the radiator because not only does it cool the engine bit it also cools the inverter and associated electronics which don't like getting warm. Plus the gearbox cooler is also at the front.

  2. Would imagine as you can get EBC yellows, the Reds must be available, don't know for sure as haven't looked. Reds are the equivalent of the Hawk ceramics as I understand it.

  3. Unlikely, havent heard of any shock absorbers leaking on the 4th gen GS and some have covered over 100k since 2012 so would have been picked up by now. I think the IS is more popular generally, much more of them around so they seem to get more sections. Like the IS200/300 section is pretty populated, so is the IS250 section and the 3rd gen IS section is very popular too as they sell more than the Lexus GS

  4. Its very rare that cars are completely stopped though. rear lights are activated before the brakes are and in creeping/rolling traffic the brake lights will be engaged quite a lot of the time. Thats unless you do one of my main pet peeves and thats just stopping completely and then leaving a 5 car gap before moving forwards and doing the same again. I dont mind putting the footbrake and putting the car into Park if waiting for ages stopped as dead as a bird for 5 minutes but in rolling traffic its just silly. Im pretty sure more people get glare from my headlights than they do from the brake lights anyway and if it was a huge problem, they'd be illegal

  5. When I first got my car last Easter I was dissaponted with the fuel consumption and didn't feel the batteries were doing their job. After a bit of research I found that you could 'reset' the battery levels and control system. After that there was a definite improvement in the mpg and only a couple of weeks ago I achieved my best ever run of an indicated 34.7mpg over my 100 mile journey to work. My conclusion is that by far the biggest factor impacting fuel consumption is my right foot and it's taken a concerted effort to alter my driving style to achieve what I would term 'reasonable' economy.

  6. Yes they are bright. I noticed it too when I got it. I just put mine in park if it's on a flat surface waiting a long time in traffic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  7. Don't worry Piers, it'll be fixable one way or t'other! ;) No advisories regarding this issue on last MoT (although other items picked up last time, not mentioned this time!!) same tester as well! The ironies are thricefold: 1) Winter is coming, which is why I got an RX in the first place to get me into work in rural Dorset - an RX with no MoT means rally crossing to work in my much older and tenfold less rusty MR2! 2) I'd finally finished refurbing the last 2 alloys which I had tyres in the garage ready to go on (still got it done today tho!) 3) Original exhaust and cat 13 years on and zero emissions problems! (Although rear exhaust hanger fell off last year due to rust and was 'fixed' with a heavy duty stainless steel style 'cable tie' to original mounting point!) With air suspension spares tucked away in the garage, clean alloys, clean body work & interior and the knowledge the engine is still sweet as a nut with zero electronic issues (possible conversion to LPG as a new year project on the cards), there's still loads of life in the old girl yet! Bearing in mind I paid £4K for this car 2 years ago and have covered 20k miles, I think I can stretch to get this sorted and still have miles and miles of luxury cheap reliable motoring to come... Compared to X5's, tourag's, cayenne's and ML Mercs etc, where I'd have no doubt oil leaks, failing gearboxes, dodgy electrics/electronics, higher insurance etc etc etc, the RX truly has not disappointed. Rust is somewhat inevitable in the U.K. and I can't blame the car for the environment taking it's toll on it after 13 years. As other members have suggested it is worth undersealing the car to avoid this situation, no doubt I'll be doing that too if I end up sorting this out myself.

  8. To get back onto the topic, i had an NX for 24hours ending today. Had a short drive around Stoke on Trent in an F-Sport in the pouring rain yesterday - did it rain?!? Then we had a Luxury overnight. We initially only went to see what the trim levels were on the different models of NX as the prices compare favourably with the IS300h. Our PCP on our IS300h Luxury ends in May and the thieving tax man is going to change the VED rates on 1st April even though we have cut our emissions from the old IS250 Sport. The Chancellor is obviously not getting enough road fund licence or petrol tax from me now so he is moving the goalposts yet again. I wonder what he really wants motorists to do. Long story short - the NEX F Sport was fitted up to the eyeballs with just about every extra you could have on it and it was tempting deal. However, driving the NX Luxury home through the winding and undulating roads from Staffordshire into Shropshire it showed that the engine is underpowered for the size of vehicle and I also did not like the way the engine screams on acceleration before the revs drop again via the CVT transmission which I am not 100% sure of (have test driven a BMW 330e with a "normal" auto box). The NX is a large and luxurious car but not for us. I am waiting for the 2017 IS300h to come available and we will be choosing between an F-Sport and probably a Luxury.

  9. Had mine fitted today - quite like them!! 19"x10J Linea corse 818, with 255/35 19 Bridgestone blizzaks on all wheels drives really well.

  10. I would read the CT200 forum right back to year dot and then decide....my guess is that faults are as rare as hens teeth. If you want peace of mind then go for it.

  11. Ooh I'd be thinking smart repair too. I wouldn't recommend keeping it on short beep either. Keep it on long and you'll have no issues

  12. Just bear in mind that you need to have car serviced at Lexus in order for the warranty to be valid. Otherwise, I'd agree £500 for two years including breakdown cover is a very good deal.

  13. It is a no brainer Nick. You must protect your investment soonest. It is the best Extended Warranty in the marketplace and unlike others does cover the Hybrid system too. I`ve had an extended warranty for 2 complete years and just taken out a further 2 year warranty. Not had to use it. It is interest free and includes breakdown cover.Simply a no brainer !!

  16. When you select reverse, move the passenger side mirror angle to your preference using the buttons. It should go back to normal when put into drive and each time you hit reverse, it should now go to the new angle
