  1. Correct, I didn't realise until I saw this video, but I didn't move out of drive whilst stood anyway. Laziness.

  2. Speak to Natalie....she'll get it sorted instantly for you. I suspect the salesmen don't earn commission on it being a service related purchase....maybe Natalie does ?

  3. I wouldn't even consider putting anything in front of the radiator because not only does it cool the engine bit it also cools the inverter and associated electronics which don't like getting warm. Plus the gearbox cooler is also at the front.

  4. Thank you so much to everyone who responded. You've reassured me that's it's a) sensible, and b) a good deal. I now just need to get Cardiff Lexus to get it organised. The salesman's responses aren't exactly lightning reactions to my enquiries....

  5. So, why not have a system akin to headlamp assist, whereby the brake lamps are extinguished if the vehicle has been stopped for more than x seconds and the system detects a stopped vehicle behind?

  8. The main point of my post is really a forewarning to other RX owners of a similar vintage as to what might be heading there way - foreword is forearmed.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Yup south west coast all it's life! Apparently MoT tester said it is possible to weld though (just caught up with the better half who took it in earlier for the test.) I may try and source a second hand part from a breaker and hammerite it good and fit myself.... why do I get all these jobs in the winter?? Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Not to put too much of a damper on your dreams Colin, but that manic acceleration you refer to increases the G Forces in your body significantly. So much so that Tesla now has a model which will acieve 6o mph in less than 3 seconds and causes mere mortals to black out.Have a safe journey !! 16. thanks very much for replies, the mpg figures you quote seem to be the same as my is250 ,so i will certainly look into this a bit further now and perhaps have a test drive soon ,my little pot of money doesn't arrive until april, :), so plenty of time to do some research.

  18. I'd add that on my last track day at Oulton Park, a 5.0 Mustang was there and I was a bit disappointed by the noise. Must have been standard - the engine was barely audible. Must be like ours and need a catback to unleash what we've all paid for!

  19. Hi Nick, Yes definitely go for it. My car is 3 years old on December 23rd and the manufacturers warranty runs out then but, when I purchased the car I took the opportunity to take out a further 2 years of warranty, which will kick-in next month and will cover me until 23/12/2018, a bit of extra peace of mind for me. Also as mentioned in other posts, you get the roadside assistance cover chucked in which covers YOU AND YOUR WIFE (if you have one of course) and it doesn't matter what car you're in either. Enjoy your car.

  20. I would read the CT200 forum right back to year dot and then decide....my guess is that faults are as rare as hens teeth. If you want peace of mind then go for it.

  21. Thank you so much, John, Bob and Steve for the advice. And with what speed!! You have confirmed what I suspected - that I was being foolish in penny-pinching 500 quid. It really wasn't pitched very convincingly by the salesman - so low-key I almost wasn't listening. I just need to confirm that it starts from the point when my standard 1yr-warranty runs out, so that I'm effectively getting 3 years. The car is simply brilliant - I read every motoring-press review which universally panned it, and all the owners' reviews and customer-satisfaction reports which unreservedly loved it, and rejected the nonsense talked by journalists. I figured I'd trust the people who actually lived with them! Thank you again. Nick

  22. Yes, that made me laugh when I played it back. Apologies for the swearing, I should have put a warning on the post.

  23. These intermittent problems with high tech systems I think personally are as a result of the forced changeover from lead based solder to lead free replacements. The solder joints produced by lead free are poor in comparison to lead solder and hence an increased failure rate of equipment. The fact that leaded solder is still used in military applications and I understand aerospace says it all really.

  24. Actually its not that the factory UV protection deteriorates its more that it gets polished off by people polishing their headlights! The basic headlight plastic is a material sometimes know as Lexan or Polycarbonate this material reacts to UV and in time turns yellow. To prevent this the headlight is coated with a UV filter not sure what the factory use however I do know that Acrylic is a good UV filter so I suspect that the anti UV coating is not much more than a good quality Acrylic clear coat. So a comprehensive solution to yellowed headlights would be to polish the Lexan until the yellow surface has been removed and then spray them with a good quality Acrylic clear coat. My suggestion your risk :-) Oh! and for those who still have bright shiny headlights Never ever polish them wash only.

  25. Wet and dry till it goes opake , cutting compand till crystal clear. Then use a lacquer a couple of fine coats.
