Not had chance over the last month to getto clean the IS, so today made time

Very plausible. I once had the misfortune to have a gust of wind blow an errant carrier bag under the car once as I was driving along. It obviously got caught on the exhaust and melted causing a right stink. If I ever see one blowing about now and it looks to be coming my way, I'll do all I can to avoid it - only when it's safe to do so though!

Hi all, many thanks for your replies, it's really appreciated. That's great that Lexus appear to have sorted the alloy corrosion problems but I'll keep them clean and looking good. Being somewhat particular about wheels, I've gone for a Mercury Grey, NX in Luxury trim with pan roof but I've had it fitted with the F-Sport alloys. Just back from a grand tour of the southern counties. Somerset to Southampton to Bristol to Somerset. That's 200 miles on the NX's first day and I'm really happy with it. Just thinking about where to take it tomorrow!

Pleased to hear it James. Enjoy what will be the best car you have ever had, with the best drive you have ever had, in the fastest car you need. Just watch the fuel gauge closely as sometimes it can be faster than the clock !! Regards John

if you drive it in the manner you where taught to drive then there is no major change to your style when you learnt to drive you where taught to do the following:- 1) avoid hard acceleration 2) avoid late braking 3) anticipate where you may need to stop / slow down and ease of the accelerator. as long as you do the above then your milage will be good

I've had mine just over a week now and I've found that it encourages a smooth method of driving and this seems to get the best out of it. It's not a 'mash the pedal to the floor' kind of vehicle. I've found smooth and gentle throttle inputs work best and the car just seems to gather pace with not much effort. Sport mode is fun and useful when you need a bit of extra shove. I did a 100mile round trip yesterday that included local A roads, the M4 and the A34 (with its hills) and the car was fine, it maintained speed no problem on uphill sections. Returned an average of 55mpg (according to the trip computer) and I found if you use the cruise control economy seems to improve. My Merc was a C250 petrol (with 205BHP) and lots of grunt and I must say I'm not missing it. The Lexus just seems to cosset and reward you with a more relaxed driving style.

I have the 2 year warranty on my IS250C taken out last November @ £795 on ten monthly direct debits of £79.50. Hardly miss it ! I had cause to claim earlier this year when the nearside headlamp assembly allowed water and condensation in. I was asked for photographs of the problem and replacement was authorised immediately. I understand the headlamp assembly is in the order of £600, so taking into account the AA membership I have had my money's worth already . I have a further 14 months still to run on my warranty. If I decide to sell the car, it will enhance its value (secure a sale easier !) as the warranty is transferrable to a new owner for just £25. Lexus servicing during the warranty period is mandatory I understand.

Just my observations." Well said Daniel. And how many idiots do not drive with dipped headlamps on in poor visibility? And how many idiots drive with their day driving lamps on, not realising that the rear of the car is not lit up ? We could go on but, changing bad practices requires re-educating people and most just do not want to learn or re-learn. So, test drive completed. Verdict, i love it. Pulling away for the first time in near silence put a smile on my face. I found the changover between battery/engine and both to be seamless at all times. The cvt box was the best of all my recent tests from other brands and yes while a little noisy if pushed thats not what the lexus for me is about and it wouldnt be pushed. The ride, yes it could be a little softer but coming from an vw up it is an improvement for me. Being a smooth driver i dont think the ride would unsettle me to often. Needed a little more throttle than id have though to move on batteries but its a style you get used to. In normal fine. And sport has enough pull for me. The brakes seemed a little wooly but i appriciate their charging the system so you learn what works. Considering a few cars at the moment and the ct is now the front runner. Will prob test drive again on sunday with the mrs and go from there. ct is certainly a different style of drive and life is about trying different things so i think id enjoy it.

I had this on mine and they replaced a non-folding wing mirror and resonating door speaker with no absolutely no questions. Car was cleaned and vacuumed to the usual high(ish!) standard and they gave me a desk for the morning to work from whilst they did the part swaps. They also gave me food, tea and water. The warranty seems to cover everything that's not a wear and tear item, including electrics. Decent value for peace of mind in my opinion.

Dealer phoned yesterday and confirmed that the claim has been accepted. car will be going in on 30/09. Lexus deliver again! Trying to secure a RC as a loan car as it is the only Lexus I have not yet driven apart from the LS...

I looked into this last year. If you want 2 of both then source a left hand drive light cluster to give you two reversing lights. Then buy two led fogs that replace the reflectors in the bumper. I was going to do this but then traded my IS for a GS.

As a cyclist I think the width of a car in fog is relevant. I wear specs from Specsavers incidentally ;)

The reverse light uses a bulb whereas the fog is led so unlikely to blow.

Not observed the lack of twin fog lights but have noticed the single reverse light but it looks aa though there is a space where the other reverse light should be. Agreee it seems an unnecessary design issue to not have both the reverse and rear fog lights. What happens when thrle bulb goes in either, we are left with no lights so that is a safety concern!! I love the exterior and cabin design but feel the 2nd gen was better built. Still it is a great car.

Not only one rear fog light but only one reversing light too! Absolute penny pinching rubbish! There are a couple of threads on here somewhere, where a modification has been done by altering the light cluster/bulbs/lamps and, in some instances the reflectors.

Dealer is having you for a fool IS300h has service intervals of 10k miles/1 year for private buyers and 12k miles/1 year for business users. Therefore, that IS is missing 2 services and warranty will be affected. However, having said that the warranty is set to run out this year regardless. The warranty is 3 year/60k miles. All Lexus vehicles have a service book, Lexus stores information on their system but its not readily available by each dealer. Its cheap because it doesn't have a service history.

Take a look on Autotrader. Just go test drive an SE at an independent dealer if you can and if its closer.

Are those reflectors the only ones on the back of the car? Showing reflectors is a legal requirement, mot failure if not present.
