  1. The symptoms do sound a lot like idle air control valve, sometimes it will throw a code if the module goes bad that 'sort of' blips the throttle when you come to a stop to not let the revs fall so low there is a danger of a stall. Previously I've had this issue and no fault codes and it was because the IACV valve was gummed up and required a lot of cleaning (carb cleaner spray) to release it - all the electronics were sound (hence no code). I've still got the same valve on a couple of years later and no stalling issues since...

  2. For me the DVD capability comes under 'nice-to-have' although I'm not sure when I'd ever find myself sat in the car, stationary, for long enough to actually feel like watching something. That said what I have used it for is listening to a music DVD as an alternative to a CD (usually live concert DVDs). You get more music on the disc and in 5.1 DD, and with the move to Bluray, DVDs are becoming less expensive.

  3. Hi The clever people will be along shortly, but in the interim, don't use a carwash if you can help it. Could someone be scratching it deliberately? Is there something that is on the seals that does it when the windows go up and down? You might want to post photos of the scratches

  5. First port of call is to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to clear the air suspension fault code. This will allow the pump to work again and should level the car out when you start it after reconnecting the battery. If the car levels out, stop the engine and make a note of how it's sitting, it should be even all round from the top of the wheel to the wheel arch. Wait about 10 mins and have a look again and see if any side is lower than the others and post back with what happens! At this point, it could be quite a few things but if the pump continually runs for more than 30secs at a time, the computer disables it for protection so it doesn't burn itself out. It could be a height sensor but also just as likely is a leaky air strut as these are a bit like rubber balloons that over time will perish and not hold air so need lots of topping up to keep a level ride height. Just like a tyre with a slow puncture.

  6. It could be various things causing the problem, unfortunately it's unlikely any of them will cost little to fix. I would say the first thing to have checked are the height sensors, just one failing can affect the whole car. It's also possible that a strut has failed, again, it affects the whole system. There are also various valves that control the system, plus the pump. You really need to get it checked by a competent mechanic who's familiar with air suspension, and it needs to be raised on a lift. And to answer another question, I've had three LS400's and two LS430's and I really don't think air makes any difference over springs, except for the cost of repairs!

  7. Thanks, in fact, the car wouldn't start yesterday so I phoned the garage I bought it from and they sent out a mechanic straight away, he got it started and I drove it up the their shop. They tested the 12V battery and it was completely finished. Probably from when the car had been say on the lot although he did say it looked like the original (on a 2008 car!). They replaced it with a brand new Bosch item so I'm totally happy with the service I've received and no more 12V worries for a few years hopefully!

  8. Have you got higher hinges fitted to your bonnet ? It seems to be lifted at screen end of the bonnet, nice car in that colour, regarding your cam belt....I really would get this done as soon as you can , the consequences of it failing could wreck the engine , I had mine done twice when I had my is200 , the cost was about £ 250.00 Allan

  10. I haven't looked but I remember a few years ago there was a company in the States selling them on eBay claiming them to be top quality. On the other hand some might say "badges, we don't need no steenking badges"

  11. Sorry for asking the obvious but I assume you are pressing the Load button and waiting for the display to tell you it's ready to accept a disc?

  12. My bulbs dont flicker at all come straight on and dim really slow. I found the rear was a bugger on my car front was easy, just dont take the hole lot out. And yes on plastic tools a must for delicate jobs.

  13. Here's a link to an interior led bulb kit: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lexus-IS250-LED-INTERIOR-KIT-INTERIOR-LIGHTS-BULBS-LED-KIT-/260863230811?hash=item3cbca9035b:m:m6bGFK4tkJ5m4pf_mHH6yrQ Be aware that leds in the front dome flicker when the dimming effect kicks in - can be annoying at first but you get used to it! Also, if you haven't already got them, a set of plastic trim removal levers helps to get the lights apart without marking the plastic (you can find them on eBay). And check how the front dome fits together before you start - it's not obvious. Workshop manuals also available on eBay, but you may find a guide to the front dome assembly on here or online somewhere.
