  1. @rayaans was kind enough to leave this link in my thread. I'm just passing on the love! All credit goes to rayaans! It should be very helpful.

  2. Local to me is an LS 400 for sale - MkIV - bronze with I years MOT. I do not think it has been used very much, as it always appears to be in the drive. It is not garaged. Beige leather interior, sign on the window says £1500. Only had a quick look but apart from the wheels it looked in good condition. Gold badges. Just thought I would give the heads-up as it might be worth investigating as the MkIV's are getting hard to find. It has the numberplate L400 **P(?) - not sure if that would be sold with the car or not. I knocked on the door but there was no one in. Will try and get more details when I pass again.

  3. Evening Mark, Thanks for letting me know just how risky this could be. I am obsessive about maintaining my LS well, so don't want to damage anything. It looks like it will be ultra violet glasses then Or one day buying an LS430 with the different coloured needles as an addition to the family! (that will be a good excuse to get another Lexus) Alex

  4. Thread Update Well after a lot of deliberation and many sleepless nights I finally have some news. Last weekend I could get no further - I had seen photos of two cars but photos cannot give you a real understanding of what the car is like. Last weekend the other half suggested that we go away for the night somewhere in-between Stoke and Stockport (both had cars that I was interested in). One of the cars was a silver 2010 plate and the other was a black 62 plate. Last Sunday we visited both dealerships. I have to say that Lexus are very accommodating and found both dealerships lovely. The silver car was nice to drive and needed a little 'tighting' up. It was fresh in from a trade in and therefore had not been valeted so I was seeing the car in its raw format. The one in Stockport instantly reminded me of an old car (Honda) of which I had many years of fun in! After many hours of deliberation and many sleepless nights I brought her home yesterday. She has just had a nice wash and the lovely Welsh weather threw a bit more water over her too. She is a 2012 on a 62 plate, 36,000 miles.

  6. Hi Jeff, I wash 'Mr. Jingles,' once a week and use 'Autoglym' products. I wax the car about once every two months, I also wax the front and rear screens, the alloy wheels are washed each week with the car and waxed about once a month. I have black carpets and wash them about every 3 months with a standard carpet cleaner, for the seats and other upholstery I use warm water and a drop of 'Fairy liquid.' I just use a damp cloth in the engine bay each week. I also clay the car at least once a year. There are no hard and fast rules for specific cleaning products, it depends on individual taste. The frequency depends on the type of climate you live in, the time of year and of course how fanatical you are. In the UK I lived in site of the Isle of Wight, salt was my enemy, now I live in sight of the Alps, dust is generally my enemy. I also keep 'Mr jingles,' garaged at home. I would highly recommend that you read and download 'Rayaan's guide to cleaning your car,' it's on the site, very informative and well written. I would only advise you to always hand wash your motor, never put it through a car wash. Good luck. Michael.

  7. The 400h is definitely faster than the 450h but I've never noticed a problem with throttle response on the loan 450h vehicles I've driven, both pre 2013 and post models. The 4 speed auto box on the RX300 series I makes throttle response/acceleration poor IMO, certainly compared to a 450h.

  8. It would appear so, and NA = naturally aspirated...ie, not turbo/super charged.

  9. Hybrids don't need any special servicing requirements so I don't see any issue using an independent. If you needed work done on the hybrid system then you might want to consider taking it to a Lexus dealer or specialist. The main reason to use a Lexus dealer is to keep the resale value high on newer vehicles or if you want to purchase the excellent Lexus extended warranty, as servicing at an authorised service centre is part of the T&Cs.

  10. Well, the Dash Kit on first inspection looked very good. On application it is however a bit disappointing. Unless you are willing to spend a fair bit of time with a Craft knife then give it a miss. The Radio part in particular I'm waiting on a "promise" that a replacement will be sent me. As two extra glue tubes didn't arrive as "promised" I'm not holding my breath but I did decide to start installing the rest of the kit. You can see the problems in the photo. A little more space around each knob is desirable as the knobs are inset and so there is no space behind them. Also the buttons are wrongly spaced. There were no problems with the Door handle parts front and back. There was a part which didnt tally to my rear Cigar lighter. It has a wheel hole central and I dont. The double Airvent in the back was OK. The Instrument cluster required some attention unless you are happy to lose the security light. I drilled a hole for it and used a biro end piece to make it look OK. The Air Con panel is faulty in several respects. Firstly, the panel is too tight aound the main switches. Secondly, the various air selection buttons also needed to have a sliver cut at the one nearest to the main switches as it was going to be too tight. Full blow is the button. Thirdly, the strips to show the selection lights are not long enough. Fortunately you can just see half of the lights each side, but annoying that they don't completely show. The Roof light was OK expect for the main opening rocker switch. Just a little more (say 1mm) all around would have been OK. Strangely there was space all around the other switches. There is a Window Remote panel in the Car for which no part was supplied. The Ring for the Ignition switch is not quite the right size. It sticks to 70%. An extra ring was supplied and I dont know if this perhaps sits in the rear Cigar lighter. Not checked. So, as they say a bit of a Curates Egg. Anyone contemplating buying should ignore the advice to remove part of the backing when applying. The glue sticks will dry out if you leave them overnight so some might do the whole job at once but I clearly couldn't. Fortunately I realised I might need more and bought 32fl oz of 3m on t'bay. Came from China and not expensive. Frankly it is very difficult to remove the backing and I removed it all before lining up a piece to the best of my ability. I used a flat iron on the lowest setting and put each part between two pieces of brown paper on a hard surface to apply heat to the red backing. Not many seconds required to warm up the part. Getting the peel started is the difficult part. Craft knife and tweezers or pliars useful. Regret I left feedback as soon as I received the kit but I like what I see so far.

  11. I think the dealers have been forced to keep to list price by Lexus GB - possibly breaking a bunch of UK and EU laws.
