  1. Well i must add to this I had the GS300 before the 450h and it was in exceptional condition I had it 4 years and was troublefree in all that time except for a leaking front shock which i had to replace both and front and rear discs other than that it was perfect the gear change was nearly seamless and as quiet as a mouse, the wife gave me a hard time when i said i was going upto the 450 However there was two points i was concerned about the CVT and the low profile tyres as i love the quietness of the lexus gs300 and i was a bit concerned of road and engine noise may not be as good in the 450. How wrong i was I have had the 450 3 months now and it as ticked all the boxes i have done 2k in it and as not put a foot wrong and just as quiet as the 300 if not better i dont race about so i dont hear the roar as some have said i never go over 80 and usually around 60 i had a trip to bridlington on tuesday and was diverted by the Dynamic Road System on the Nav told me to go through Hull which i did and came back a slightly different as the road works at Market Weighton was still not clear I have never really bothered too much about Petrol consumption but when i got home i cycled through the Readout on Speedo and the car showed 46 mph now even i know that is good I feel that when the car is moving away from standstill it gives the feeling that the car would just race away with no effort. I had the car checked out at my local Dealer when i bought it and the guy said they are awesome cars i took it with a pinch of salt but that is the word that describes the car i am over the moon with it and not one rattle in it at all sublime quietness but with the abilty to change into a leapord chasing a deer in a blink of the eye a wonderful car in all respects i have not missed the convetional 6 speed of the 300 for one minute Robert

  2. Morning Team LOC. Just thought I would share a couple of damp, drizzly pictures taken last night over at Oulton Park on our ISF mini mini meet. Dave (Warrington Guy) took the time to come over to the circuit and meet me. Its not ofter you see another ISF at all so to have two parked together is actually very rare. Its always nice to meet like minded Lexus and general car enthusiasts and Dave is certainly that, his car is immaculate (although I am sure he would say it isnt) and sounds incredible, It has just that right tone, a sort of muted woofly aggression, very tasty and certainly has me thinking about something similar. Anyways..a thank you to Dave for making the trip and making for an enjoyable evening. I do hope at some point over the summer period we can get a few more of us together, I can certainly imagine a drive out of 10 or so ISF's. Would be a wonderful sight. A few shots from last night.

  3. So I've had my Fsport 300h for over a month now and decided to give it a good clean and some detailing. the paintwork has come up a treat and although time consuming has really brought the car to life. i must say having come from BMW and Audi before that the Lexus IS proving the best all road car I've owned. hope you like the pic.

  4. Generally speaking on light carpwts it's not as noticeable. On darker carpets I've seen prolonged use turn it almost dark grey. Usually the ones containing bleach say something like "5% oxidising agents" or something

  5. There should be no issue with the RX, the only thing that the iPhone restricts is the ability to reply to text messages. Contact transfer can be an issue on the older Lexus systems.

  6. My iPhone 4 connected to my 08 GS no problem but the phone book wouldn't transfer. I borrowed a 2016 IS, the iPhone connected no problem and all my contact were there as well. So it appears the later models Bluetooth is superior. BTW I've switched to a Nokia Windows 10 phone now and still can't transfer the contacts to the 08 GS. :(

  7. this is not exactly what you asked but i'll mention it anyway - my 430 has a basic Nokia CL 1W handsfree Carkit fitted and my 6s works without any problems

  8. Have you checked that all the bolts are tight on the rack and supsension like top mounts etc.? And check the power sterring fluid t00

  9. You say you cleaned out the throttle body - by that do you mean that you took it off the car and thoroughly cleaned it inside and out, also checking that the breather holes were clear? My car is also a '93 and it goes like the wind. I did check my ECU capacitors (purely as a precaution) with an ESR meter, but unless you have one and know what to expect, seriously don't go there! (They were fine, by the way.) Blocked fuel filter does sound like a strong possibility though.

  10. Just to clear up some confusion here! Dash and plastic - the Armorall semi matt finish is fine to use. Leather - I presume you have cream leather. By all means give Autoglym Leather cleaner a go but its not great at getting any serious dirt out. If you struggle, buy a dodo juice leather kit and a leather brush. Itll get rid of pretty much everything. Of course, make sure you use clean microfiber cloths to ensure you're not just distributing dirt to other areas of the seat Carpets - Ideally you want a wet/dry vacuum for this and a stiff brush. Use a good carpet cleaner NOT the conventional household carpet cleaners like vanish etc. You want one with no bleach in it! Vanish and other household stain removes have bleach which will mask the stain and may also change the colour of your carpet over time! I use the 1001 3-in-1 Machine carpet shampoo from Wilco by hand and a stiff brush + water. Then just suck up all the water and dirt with the vac. If you don't have a vac, you're not going to remove much. Carpet cleaners dont magically dissolve dirt/mud etc so its just going to stay inside the carpet unless you have something to remove them with. Another option is to use plenty of lint-free towels. Headliner - all purpose cleaner and water. You'll need to remove the excess water with towels otherwise, like carpets, you won't actually remove anything. Also, be careful with the headliner, its stuck on with glue so you don't want to expose it to too strong a dilution of APC. If you get the time, take a look at the following thread:

  12. If you want a closer look at them and how they are wired, just give me a knock if the car is outside.

  13. Great cars the RX300! I can still remember mine which I had for 8 years! Whats the problem with the interior? Is it smelly or dirty? (or both?!)

  14. The nice thing about AVS is that it isn't meant to just make things stiff. With S+ mode, when cornering it increases the damping force on the loaded side to reduce body roll. In any mode AVS will constantly adjust to improve the ride and handling depending on the road surface and how it is being driven. The sport modes will increase the throttle sensitivity, hybrid battery assistance, and the weight of the steering. However it is only the 450h, with the variable gear ratio steering, where you get sharper steering as well.

  15. I think it only stiffens the suspension very slightly which may or may not be noticeable depending on the road you are on. I guess if the road is smooth and you're at low speed it wont make a huge difference. On the motorway and on B roads, you might notice it a bit more. However, having said that, the Sport mode is probably more dedicated towards increasing throttle response and sharpening the steering rather than making the car really stiff.
