  3. I bought an 08 LS600hL last year and overall I've been very happy with it. I didn't get it inspected beforehand, which I now realise was rather brave of me! However, I left it into my local Lexus dealer and they found a few minor problems and one major one - a loose suspension joint which was easily fixed. Given the complexity of these cars you really want to know a bit about them beforehand and be prepared to walk away if you have any doubts. Overall, I'm delighted with the car but having only two rear seats on the L model has been an inconveience on a couple of occasions. Also, this car is BIG! Tight car park ramps are a nightmare and I've managed to scrape one of the rims on one. Make sure you get a full Lexus service history with no gaps and check when the brake discs were replaced last as it's a fairly expensive job. However, overall these are very reliable cars if looked after properly and they really are a joy to drive. Good luck with it.

  5. Don't get starry eyes when viewing one... Keep your senses about you and take your time checking all electrical items, nothing on these cars are cheap to sort, if buying from a Lexus garage make sure/bargain with them for a extended warranty, check heated seats both front and rear work ie put them all on check they are heating up and leave them on whilst you look around rest of car then check later that seats are still heated.... My drivers one went wrong and used to heat up for 5-10 mins then stop heating up, as I had a warranty, seat leather with intrigated heat element was replaced free of charge to myself (£1350+vat) just for seat base leather n element these are excellent cars and you will not be disappointed, as Pat said the HL versions with relaxation pack only have 2 seats in back so if you need the extra room go the 600h not 600hl... Boot space is small for a big car,

  7. Ray, that is sickening. The really galling thing is that even if the culprits were caught red handed, they'd only get a slap on the wrist as punishment. The Courts are run by the Ministry of Injustice if you ask me.

  8. However, it is worth looking at his advert to see the word he's added next to Lexuschap (Zindabad) in his listing, because it really does remind us that pride comes before a fall, and he will fall because people who are that cocky always do.

  11. Truth be told I just like tinkering :) have yet had an experiment blow up in my face (touch wood). Though I am thinking about buying an old Prius to fart around on now. Maybe if the tech improves and I can successfully not knacker the Prius I may well dive in after 5-6 years of ownership.

  13. I bought this micro USB from Amazon. Flap closes down fine so it is hidden away and I just leave it plugged in. SanDisk SDCZ43-016G-G46 Ultra Fit USB Flash Drive, USB 3.0, 16 GB https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00LLEN5FQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4GplxbAHFQZQ3 Loaded lots of MP3's and films to keep my little one amused and it loads instantly with no problems.

  15. Exactly what happened to me 2 months ago. Morrisons car park, returned to car and had the same damage as you, but to my rear door. Saw the Manager, he reviewed the CCTV and told me he could see the incident, and, as the car drove from the car park they could capture the reg.No. Supermarkets wont release CCTV footage as it's against the Law (Data Protection) He advised me to report the incident to the Police, they will go to the Supermarket, check the CCTV and decide which way to progress. Waited 2 weeks, phoned police and asked for an update. "These cases can take up to 6 months to resolve, Sir'' Thought I may as well take this one on the chin. Had the repair at Lexus, £1050. Where the marks are on your door there is apparently a strengthening bar which makes the job that much more difficult, obviously. A week later, a letter arrived from the Police stating that they had reviewed the CCTV and had been in touch with the other driver to remind them of their responsibility to other road users and supplied me with their Name and Insurance details but they will not be taking any further action. Received a phone call from their insurance 'Direct Line' saying they accept full responsibility for their driver. Told them I had had the repair done already, no problem Sir, send us the invoice. A phone call from them 2 days later, shall we make the cheque payable to you or the Repairers. Me, please, cheque arrived 2 days later, case closed. Go back to Sainsburys, ask them to review the CCTV. If they can see the incident, then report to the Police. Hard to judge from photo but I would think that needs to be done professionally. I see your in Hampshire, if you're not too far from the A3, PM me and I maybe able to help you out. Best of luck, Graham.

  16. For a long time I just totally ignored Lexus as a brand albeit I knew the original LS set the world alight back in 98. My working life was spent in the motor trade, in particular body shops as an insurance Engineer and my first real passion was for the 3 Bentleys I had over a 10 year period. Then 3 Jaguars, various models and finally last year saw the light and started looking at the LS460 and only the LS460. I could kick myself for not having this car years ago. I handled a number of insurance claims for the LS400 and was always impressed in the way it was put together. I bought mine used from a dealer and paid out £1700 for an extra 2 years warranty and yet don't expect to make a single claim based on the last 7 months use of this remarkable car. Apart from the common glove box lid issue where the swage line didn't line up, although I fixed that quite easily and a lot of excess folds in the driver's leather seat cushion, again fixed that by removing the seat and handed the cushion to a trimmer who removed the excess folds of leather this car has been the best car I've owned. I don't normally have need to use the kick down function of the gear box but every now and then I use it just to put a smile on my face. Buy the 460 or 600 I don't think either will disappoint
