  1. Two weeks ago posted about the 5 fail points on the Mot - most serious was the headlamps which I got sorted thanks to advice on here by way of the Autoglym restoration kit. Car has been in the local garage for the past week and picked her up tonight - everything supplied, fitted and a service too all for around £500 which is great value for another year on the road. My mechanic has had a good look round and no other issues lurking save for what was called out as advisory on the Mot. Have been using the ISF exclusively for the past fortnight which has been fun but big smile on my face tonight when I took the LS for a drive - so soothing and serene - funny how a 17 year old car can create such feelings of pleasure! The tax was due to run out tomorrow so Mot passed in the nick of time and have just renewed online so here's to another year and hopefully many more to come.

  2. Hi Guys, Been a busy but productive day for the F. Gauges are all wired up, just need to fit the sensors, and they're good to go. Passenger seat is also finished and in the car. Just need the bolt to fit my seatbelt on the drivers seat, and that can go in as well. Good news is there are now no dash lights at all! No airbag, no PCS.... Hope you like them.

  3. I'm still looking for one but had the Toyota Soarer with same engine and gearbox and it was like sitting in your armchair and a 3 hour journey seemed like a half hour one as you were so fresh when you got out the other end, the sound system was the best I've ever had in a car. Engine and gearbox are just magnificent.

  4. Once again this evening the usual overhead speed limit signs were illuminated on the M1 between junctions 25 and 28, we were all reduced to 60 even though there were no queues and lane 4 was almost empty of the usual german vehicles that tend to frequent the lane. I have now worked out that the word SMART stands for Start Making Additional Revenue Today!

  5. When I was off work a couple of months ago we went for a few long runs, I got the MPG up to 62. Back to the daily commute and I'm on 41.7. Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

  6. some of the customisations are dealer only, this is where carista comes into its own

  7. May as well stick with OEM. I've used Redline in the past to reduce whine or improve gear shifting (on a gearbox), but if you don't have an issue there is little benefit.

  9. Lexus doesn't say to change it maybe for a very good reason. Billion pound of japanese engineering vs a few DIYrs and comments. Get the OEM lexus. You don't want to experiment over a few quids.

  10. Talking of the M42, at the other end where it joins the M1 as the A42 there is a matrix sign which commonly has the following display M1 1 MILES 2 MINUTES. A little embarrassing that a government department can't be grammatically correct.

  11. Yup, I'd agree rayaans. The last two months I've been averaging about 48mpg. Now that the temp is back up I've been managing 55mpg. You may think you're driving the same way but there's going to be some differences. The first day I got my ct200h I managed 70mpg (though that might be my fuzzy memory). I was so scared of damaging my shiny new car that I must have driven it so carefully to achieve the high mpg. Since then I've been getting around 52mpg. Two days ago I decided to REALLY concentrate on my driving and figure out where I to use EV mode etc ... I managed 67mpg. The very next day I had to drive up a hill in anger ... it was only for a minute and it dropped back down to 53mpg. I'd say after 100miles you've relaxed into the car and your driving has adjusted as well. Are you driving the same journey? Are the traffic conditions the same every time?

  12. Temperature does seem to have gone down in the last week or so which might explain the drop. Stop and start journeys, temperature, tyre pressures, passengers/weight in the car, use of stereo, keeping windows open/closed and where you are driving can all make a difference to the MPG.

  13. Shaft Motorists Achieve Revenue Targets. Unlike you Steve, I have nothing against those German vehicles.....it's the arrogant, selfish drivers of said vehicles I can't stand.

  15. Here's a useful link (whilst it's still working) for the service manual pages to replace the front strut for those interested: http://www.justanswer.com/lexus/7lr7c-lexus-rx-330-trying-change-strut-mounts-realized.html
