  1. Cheers. Will do a proper hello once I pick her up with a few pics. With a 10 month old daughter, the wife said that as long as it had 4 doors and around 20k then get what I want. I bought it without her knowing with the thought of it being easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission and all that. Sent her a link to the car today... her response "5 LITRE!!!!!" Mine... "5 Litre V8". It's got 4 doors. It has ISOFIX. All boxes ticked :-)

  2. clearly this thread is dragged into places it should not go. The main points I was making is that Lexus did not sell very well in the uk and that they are a very good purchase second hand, clearly the subject on manuals and auto is a delicate one here so its best left alone.

  3. Hi Stuart, happy to read another GS 300h owner , I have same car, totally satisfied with it. Don't worry about battery life. If you have a specific question ask, if you like to read more about GS, you can read in forum topics regarding the little sister IS 300h with same engine. And if you like to read tests, here is one: http://carproductstested.com/cars/2014-lexus-gs-300h-premier-review/

  4. I will never get a diesel car, ever. Lexus had the sense to stop making them at least.

  5. I don't understand one thing... people go through the effort of getting a premium car and then end up with a diesel.... I read somewhere that diesel cars begin to return the investement after more than 5-7 yesr of owning it... but most people change their car by then...And if I think of it, dpf egr issues due to short run come more expensive under service expense... I understand in few years from now dpf egr issue will be no more as they will undergo a design change but... why do people end up with diesel... how do they give up on refinement... diesel is so noisey... Just want to understand why would I consider a luxury car with diesel instead of petrol or a banger with diesel engine which will be more economical. Anyway, most people I meet say 'oh when I saw the car I fell in love with it' so that answers my question I guess.

  8. This has made me chuckle. I pitched the ISF as the 'sports version' of my IS250 and then as a V8....During a meal with the family I was asked for the size of the engine.....needless to say there were a few jaws dropping after hearing '5 litres'. Father in law said "what mpg will that do", I replied "didn't buy it for the mpg" :-) Lol. Currently the other half is still taking to me, I think I'm out of the woods and loving the ISF.

  9. When I first looked at an ISF my missus said "Oh, a grown up car." Now I have one she loves it.

  10. Wheels In Motion recommended on Mercedes forums also, it's difficult to get people who know what they are doing. I have a Mercedes C124 E220 (the last properly built Mercedes) and I have found a mechanic who I can trust locally, I liked him as when I rang with some problems he was prepared to talk for 15 minutes on the phone honestly about them, he then fixed them and looking over the car found stuff that had been missed on a £180 car inspection! Maybe I'm just getting old but I seem to come across people in all walks of life who just are not any good at their jobs.

  12. Hi All Recently aquired my 450h 2011 and it is mainly used for short ( 9 mile or so) urban journies. The MPG when I got it was an average of 24.6 MPG on 29/2/16. Since then the average has gone up to 30.3 MPG so I am really pleased with that. Yesterday I did a 256 mile round trip from Oxford to Bexhill on Sea with a full tank of fuel/ 2 adults / 2 dogs.I really tested efficient driving and by the time I was back in Oxford the MPG had gone up from 30.3 MPG to 40.4 MPG. I kept the speed to between 50-65 MPH on the motorway wherever possible which was alien to me but I wanted to see what difference it made. To my mind that is a good MPG for a car the size/weight of the 450h. The next longish journey I am going to see what it does with normal driving
