  1. I has a GS 300 18 years ago (S plate), I had an SC430 10 years ago with lots of cars in between. I have now come back to Lexus with a CT200h Sport and I am not disappointed. Great little car, not fast but well specced and a fun car to own !!

  2. I am not often a lover of body modifications as they can look very tacky but yours I like. It also looks better for being the same colour as the car. Nice one. Mike.

  3. Whilst I generally agree with these comments. From a manufacturing and marketing position it isn't always the best of things to be 'first' in anything. Tesla, yes a fine vehicle and the new type '3' has created significant interest and 'advance' orders. Or is that possibly rather silly people putting money down on something they haven't actually seen and doesn't even exist currently and won't be seen here in the UK for 3 or 4 years. Would people lay a £1K deposit that for a Ford or GM vehicle with that lead time? The real issue for anyone considering an all electric vehicle in the next few years is availability of sufficient charging capacity from our national grid. We have been very lucky over the last few years to have had a whole series of relatively mild winters in the UK. With existing fossil fuelled power stations originally built post WW2 and well past their 'sell by' dates the nation is currently a only a 'few steps away' from major power shortages. If the country has a really bad and extended winter we will begin to 'run out' of power. Where does that leave the guy with the electric car? - the home chargers for the Tesla are 22 kw's (smaller size than Supercharger) and in real terms energy 'hungry' and ultimately probably heavier in terms of deferred emissions than cars with internal combustion engines. I just can't see this ending well. If electrical vehicles were to take-off in a big way I'm sure our Government would be looking at the lost taxation revenue from reduced petrol/diesel sales and look for a way to penalise anyone 'home charging' an electric vehicle by increased taxation. Tesla owners - enjoy your car for a few years before HMG want their 'bit of the action' Going back to Lexus (and Toyota for that matter) I think they are doing the correct thing - they have a superb and efficient hybrid drive train that is very reliable - there is a 'plug-in' version of the Prius if you want it. I suspect that many of the 'buyers' of 'plug-in' hybrids (like Mitsubishi PHEV) are company purchasers or leased and bought purely for the low BIK taxation and will never see a home charger. To me is seems that Lexus/Toyota are 'sitting on the fence' and just watching, observing things - they can sell all their current vehicles so why go any more 'radical' than they have already?

  4. Horses for courses - I would go for the RX if she does not mind driving something large.

  6. Thanks all for the heads up re the headlight restoration - the Autoglym kit did the job - had the car back in the MOT station tonight and the lights passed the test. Saved a lot of hassle and money - car booked in for rest of the remedial work so hopefully all will be sorted soon.

  7. Totally agree with the over priced extra to have this item fitted. A 'Lexus' should have this as standard. Money grabbing cheapskate bas...ds. Mine didn't even have cruise control fitted as standard, although the wires were in place to have it retro fitted.

  9. Its OK but not the easiest to use. If you're looking at AF Desire, I'd take a good look at Angelwax Desirable - " Desirable, from Angelwax, was born in our laboratory and started life as a very small 20 pot production run. This beautifully crafted detailing wax was designed to be a limited edition run which sadly, never materialised" You can guess the reason behind why it never materialised! The story is that Angelwax made 20 limited edition pots of Desire for Autofinesse. Autofinesse thought that the wax was very good so certain people at AF decided to get it remade and sell at a higher price (pretty much double). There were a few changes but not much to really have much of an effect on looks or durability. Angelwax then released the original formula which is known as Desirable. I have to say though, I wasn't impressed with the price and performance of AF Desire, it wasn't worth the money as it didn't provide "mind-boggling" looks. Hence why the Angelwax is a better option. What kind of wax are you after? Looks or durability? I might be able to provide you with more options based on that.

  10. Comparing a BMW325i to a CT200 sport. The Lexus would be nowhere near the BMW in any way shape or form on the performance stakes. You could use a lot of fuel in the Lexus trying to keep up with the BMW ( and failing). If you trid to drive both cars as economically as possible, the Lexus would trounce the BMW in terms of fuel consumption. The BMW ride quality is better than the CT200 on all surfaces except maybe for snow and ice ( where the lighter , front wheel drive Lexus would win through). I agree with Rayaans on this one, the IS range rather than the CT range would be comparable or better than the BMW in terms of sporty performance. Both the IS 200T and the IS250 look capable of being the BMW 325i equal or better.
