  1. Hi everyone Just had my wife's Jan 2006 RX400h back from 100k mile service and MOT. I was aware of coolant seepage issue so we decided to change the cambelt, water pump, tensioners, hydraulic pretensioners, radiator, coolant, oil and filter. I ordered the Aisin kit including water pump from Rockautos, which was just under £200 including postage and duty, Koyo radiator just under £100 and Toyota super long life pink coolant 10 L which Toyota Coventry supplied for £72 (10% discount). My trusted indy who also services our LS400 did everything including the MOT for £422 including 3 light bulbs. Overall I feel the engine is quieter and pulling better (pulling might be due to ecu reset). All in all under £800 which I think is good value. Tarun

  4. Was after a Celica last week.....better to get a spoiler and then add to an SC430! I guess your comments on drivers' lack of enthusism MIGHT be that most are +40/50? (I can say that-I am too!) So are happy to cruise in comfort. I was tempted recently, but I'm never sure if I could take to the compact cabin (in relation to an LS 400!) Nice work though! Does the wheel change/dropping make it a harder ride? It's a big thing to fly around lanes in! But I'm sure car folk will be envious in the wider world.

  5. Looks great! It's a nice touch and doesn't look at all tacky like some add-on badges.

  6. Well that's the underside of the car covered. I thought there might have been a little interest from the 4.3 V8 community in a genuine power upgrade, perhaps most are content with the standard 279-282 and why wouldn't we be? it may even be the first time it's been done in the UK? PPE said they hadn't sold any others and were only aware of one right hand drive GS430 in Australia that has them fitted, all the others are on LHD cars. Here are a few pictures of the evolution of the rest of the car. I bought it as a project, as the last in the line of Soarers with the intention of making it more 'in tune' with my view of the original spirit of the Soarer. Many, including Top Gear and indeed much of the Soarer community have been critical of the SC430 but I always thought that very few of the detractors looked beyond the 'boat' like styling to appreciate what a clever concept it was. I will admit that I wasn't sure that I would be able to live with it for very long as it really is limited to carrying 2 people in comfort but though I don't think they will ever be loved as the earlier Soarers are, I do think that unlike the SC fans in the States, a lot of people in the UK have overlooked a really good car. Purchased less than 2 years ago, this is how it looked to begin with. It looks very good but there were a good few minor blemishes in the paint work that made it an ideal project car.

  8. Hi Hogie and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. I cant help with your present queries but I'm sure someone will be along ASAP. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike.

  9. I have been looking around to change the grill on my IS250 SE-L but couldn't find anything that I wanted. Alot of the American sites that sell updated grills are ....well......awful, all tend to have far too much chrome going on. Those on Ebay I just kept coming across were knock offs either plain or carbon which looked okay, but after I contacted a guy in the US who had bought one and then forwarded me some pics, decided it was not for me. I like the grill on the IS-F and Ahmed's grill thread where he managed to make a grill fit from an IS-F was just what I was looking for, and so started to look around for an original IS-F grill. That's when came across this grill on Ebay US, specifically made for the IS250 manufactured by Konzept Automobiltechnik and taken from the IS-F style......Perfect! The quality is quite good and actually better than I expected, the only thing was that I wanted to use Carbon inserts and so the front section had to be made solid or the insets would not fit into the "L" emblem, hence my work so far below. This is the IS-F style grill for the IS250 the quality is pretty good, obviously copied from the IS-F original and molded into the IS250 fitting. With the removeable "L" piece, I would say because of the way it has been molded the "L" piece is seperate. If you were using this with the OEM standard "L" emblem you would need to glue this piece in place, but it is a good fitting. 3mm plasic sheet from Ebay to make the centre piece. Shaped centre piece, filed and sanded with wet and dry, quite easy to do. Glued in place with two part epoxy resin, ready for filler. Filler started, more to do then more sanding etc. In primer after a few rounds of filling & sanding. Ready for Satin Black and "L" emblem. Carbon inserts. After a few coats of Satin Black. So I bought the Black Pearl emblems and have to say they really are nice, here is the finished grill with the carbon inserts, just need to fit it now and then change the rear emblems to match. 10. Many thanks Malc and Steve for your input (as always !!) A thump (and not a very hard one) on top of the dashboard brought the rev counter back to life immediately.
