  1. I will see if I can get my Mrs to sit in the back tomorrow evening and video my rev counter over my shoulder and you'll get a feel for the sound as I accelerate then. Its a modest improvement below 3.5k but really opens up and roars above 3.5k

  2. We need to hear how it sounds now... You tease us with your words! I'm particularly keen on hearing how the induction mods sound as it's something I'd consider doing with mine.

I bought winter tyres for the lexus straight away,i bought 4 brand new 10 spoke wheels and put the summers on them. the old wheels i repainted looked crap and scabby did them anthrasite. 4. It's just a heat shield, they always come away like that. And welcome to the LOC! You could just replace it using bigger washers.

  5. Toyota Red is concentrated, ---that word is actually printed on the 5L and 1L bottles you can buy on ebay. 'Pre mix' means just that; Concentrated, i.e. before being mixed with water. Toyota Red is described as pre mix, not pre mixED. You have to add water. That's why its £25 for 5L. With Toyota Pink, it is already pre mixed so you don't add water. With that you pay for the convenience and also it's designed for longer life. Phil, that fly needs a good swatting. Seems like some bottles of Red have pre mix printed on them and some have pre mixed on them like in your photo. Some bottles of Red also have CONCENTRATED written on them. You can see them on ebay. All I can say is this; Red has to be mixed with distilled water and Pink doesn't.

  6. If you ever need to add water, always add distilled water and never water from the tap.

  7. Got you mate! Ok next time, instead of going nav > destination > address, go to nav > destination > now look for something near the top that says 1/2 and click it to go on 2nd page > then click postcode. You should get full 7 digit postcode providing you input the format correctly depending on if it's 6 or 7 digits. I very rarely use the "address" button

  8. Never drove the diesel, it was what I was originally looking at doing quite high millage and running a string of diesel cars in the run up to my Lexus, but 10 minutes worth of reading on the internet and I never thought about 1 again. Had my IS250 for 5 months now and I know I made the right choice, there is no diesel car out there close to the refinement and pleasure of driving this car

  10. Thank goodness for online MOT history checks. Do sellers like this think all buyers are stupid?

  11. In summary no - the IS220d is not a reliable car by Lexus standard - perhaps on par with other brands such as Audi and BMW. Use the search function and you should find plenty of information regarding reliability issues on the IS220d

  12. I've got an f sport and there appears to be a bit of a delay from stationary if you floor it (certainly compared to my 250). As you say, I find the best acceleration is being a touch more gentle. You can turn EV off completely I think in the dash settings, which might make a difference, bit of a faff to do that every time you stop at a roundabout though. I've noticed my driving style has completely changed in 3 days since owning. I used to keep the 250 in ECT power mode all the time, I'd use the flappy paddles alot etc. Now I get EV anxiety (I consider myself a failure if I'm not seeing the green light come on for the majority of round town driving). So much so, I look forward to 30mph sections as I know I can max out the EV Getting a solid 45MPG and 50 on dual carriageways so I'm very happy (low 20's in my 250 - I'd be lucky to see 300 miles out of a tank)

  13. The key word there is 'polish'. Its just a way of cleaning up your paintwork, you now need a wax to seal in all your hard work. I use Autoglym HD Wax.

  14. Well I'll wade in... I had a IS200 Sport with 6spd man, it was a beautiful car to drive, gearbox was smooth and like a rifle action, I didn't ever think of driving an auto for 8 years. Eventually the I could afford a sec gen SE-L. I had tested the new manual diesel, as a courtesy car, found the power a bit strange, nothing, nothing, then all at once and the gearbox wasn't as smooth as the IS200's. I haven't tested the sec gen petrol manual but by most accounts the auto is better, beautifully sooth, and cheaper to tax. For normal day to day driving, a few miles to work and back, the Auto is King, if you are regularly travelling a long distance then the diesel might suit you, for fuel consumption, it need longs runs, and doesn't do well if you drive it short distances alot. If you are not bothered by fuel consumption, stick with an auto and choose which model and how many toys you want, good luck hunting. J.

  15. TG also thinks the RC-F is crap so you better avoid it if you wan't a V8. They also said the IS-F was rubbish so that pretty much explains it all really. Top speed? Interesting comment. Does it make a difference if top speed is 124mph vs 155mph? Maybe if you're overcompensating for something but in reality it makes no difference. Frankly if all the cars in the UK were limited to 100mph it wouldn't matter as you can't get to those speeds on normal roads without getting pulled over or braking every 2 seconds. Also, 0-62mph doesn't mean anything in the real world, the only place it makes a difference is on a drag strip. A classic example of that is the Autoexpress review between the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid, Lexus RX450h and Volvo XC90 which can be found here: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/lexus/rx/94180/lexus-rx-vs-porsche-cayenne-vs-volvo-xc90 The Porsche has 410hp and 590nm of torque both available lower down in the rev range compared to the 308hp and 335nm (+ the unknown figure from the electric motors) of torque from the RX450h. Porsche 0-60mph = 5.5s RX = 7.8s Wait till you start seeing mid-range figures and you'll see where the Lexus experience of hybrids is - Porsche 30-50mph = 3.0s RX = 2.8s Porsche 50-70mph = 4.6s RX = 3.8s Thats what a CVT gives you, punch in the face mid-range figures which are more realistic of day to day acceleration compared to the obsolete drag strip 0-60mph times. Ive personally had experience of this, my wife's IS300h can scare 3.0l diesels when rolling and the RX goes like a bat out of hell when you floor it at 40mph.

  16. Hi After another post I thought I'd share with you a useful document that I used before I collected my CeeeTeee. I guess that if you take it with you to a dealer then they will change anything you like (they have good customer service you know!) It shows all the settings that you can change along with the ones that only the dealer can change. Including turning off the annoying reverse beeps! I also got them to set the window opening from the key fob, very handy in the summer! Seth CT200h-with-nav-LPS.pdf
