  1. It's called being 17 years old. Arthritis is setting in.

  2. I have the yellow fogs on mine, think they are a JDM thing plus they are one piece units not 2 part. The kit looks good, wondered if it was for LHD at first but all seems good for RHD. I wouldn't install it in the cold damp weather, wait until it gets warmer or use a hair dryer on the area you are sticking it to to warm it and evaporate any moisture. Might also be a good idea to wipe the area with some isopropyl alcohol to remove any grease residues before sticking it on. I'd hate to hear it begins peeling off after all the expense and trouble of fitting it.

  3. Well my little bit of frivolous expense has arrived for my 1993 Car. Looks very nice but I haven't had a chance to check it all out. You do lose the descriptions under the buttons and so will need to get those made up somewhere else or use alphabet kits if you can't recall exactly what is what. Looks nice and sticking loosely to backing greaseproof (or something) Guessing I'd better fix it on sooner rather than later so the sticky doesn't dry out. Cost £92.13 to import and add £21.98 excise duty (VAT).

  4. My LS400 Year 2000 flew through the MOT for the 2nd year in my ownership: no advisories. My trusty mechanic from ATS in Reading does my cars and has done for years. No favours though as my wife's Jag failed last year with a front drop link and that's an indy bill just shy of £300. All good this year for the fleet. If I was cashed up I'd attend to the wheels and knocks and bumps. What a great car.

  5. Photography leaves a lot to be desired, seems to have lost 100,000 miles somewhere and after a year it fails the MOT on exactly the same things and now being sold after being left for another 4 years. Scrapyard material only me thinks.

  6. I reckon it's too bad even for you know where!

  10. there is a reason they stopped making 220Ds, putting a D4D tractor engine into a IS250 chassis was never going to work.

  11. The wiring runs from the screen at the front all the way down to the centre brake light and then into the boot. It's then simply joined to the reversing light wire and the other to earth, a very simple system really. The wires run along inside the various plastic trims above the bottom sills,so that means it's only active when reverse is engaged. I didn't want to run wires along the top due to there being side air curtains. It means there are 4 wires to run the length of the car, two from the camera to the monitor, and the other two for the monitor's power. If the monitor was powered separately it would be on all the time, this way it's only on in reverse. I'm sure I could have explained that more simply!!

  13. Regarding the price match, it depends on the dealer. Mine will price match cost but only from Tyre stores including fitting. They're unlikely to price match online prices as more often than note, online sellers don't have as much in terms of costs to run the place. Something worth thinking about - Is there a possibility that the camber is off on the front wheels? Therefore causing most likely outside wear on both tyres? I have a feeling someone knew about this and then swapped the front tyres around but put them on back to front on the other side as the SP270 are not directional so can be mounted any way you want which would lead to both edges being worn. Pop down to Kwik fit or something and get the alignment checked before you get any new tyres, otherwise its just going to keep occurring and will shoot through the Michelins before you reach 10k miles. I should mention that I had the SP270 which were factory fit on my RX450h and I ran them down to 2mm over 26k miles and the RX450h weighs about 200kg more than the 400h. You should be seeing around 28-30k on a set on the 400h. I actually had the opposite to you where the middle of the tyres was worn more but I prefer to run my car on 36-37 psi so I had no problem with this.

  14. Not exactly. It uses the same shocks AFAIK but just changes the stiffness. Lexus says "Selecting the AVS system’s ‘Sport’ + mode automatically increases the difference between inner and outer shock absorber damping through corners to further reduce vehicle roll. Simultaneously, VGRS automatically reduces the steering gear ratio by approximately 10% whilst the Electric Power Steering (EPS) increases steering assist torque by some 4%. These measures combine to minimise body roll, sharpen vehicle handling and optimise steering feel for the ultimate in sports sedan driving." For me the only noticeable difference was Sport + mode which gets stiffer. However, between normal, eco and sport it just felt the same as the normal IS F-Sport. The AVS doesnt like expansion joints though, they make their way into the cabin with a huge thump. The Standard suspension handles these better

  15. Hi Mark, Toyota owns Lexus and the RX300 shares the same engine as a Toyota Camry 3.0L, which is popular overseas. In Japan (until recently) Lexus didn't exist as a brand and the RX was known as a Toyota Harrier, therefore the Toyota dealers have access to all the parts schematics for the car and could order anything in you may want or need. One thing we noticed picking the parts up yesterday was all the boxes have been re-branded, they used to be like the first photo (Toyota) but now have Toyota & Lexus printed on the boxes...

  16. Well picked mine up today, a bit early and got a nice run home. Car is big and solid, in comparison to the Passat I've had for the last few years. The boot does seem damp though. When I inspected it, I thought it was the owner being over keen with cleaning agents, but it is a little damp. Not surprising for a 10 year old car, but I'll have to find out why. Photos tomorrow!

  18. A real positive on my new IS300h F-Sport...the optional Adaptive Variable Suspension that I chose when I ordered it. Try as I might, I simply could not find a demo car with AVS fitted, but I purchased it in the hope that it would make a noticeable difference to ride quality. I've had a bit of surgery on my back over the years and comfort is something I'm forced to take seriously these days. I often face the dilemma that Sports seats are by far the best in terms of support, but they're often only fitted to cars with firmer Sports suspension. With the IS I tried out several models and ultimately found that the benefits of the seats in the F-Sport outweighed the negatives of its firmer suspension. I must confess to being somewhat sceptical about the claims that some manufacturers make about AVS, but in the IS I have found it to make a significant difference. I'm less concerned about the additional Sports + option it brings (although that does tighten up the car's responses for sure), but the ride quality in ECO, Normal etc is very impressive with the AVS. Prior to the Lexus I had a Honda Accord Type-S which I found to deliver a more comfortable ride than the F-Sports I test drove before purchasing; probably a fraction softer than the Premiers I also tried. I traded the Honda in against the F-Sport and it was immediately apparent that the ride in my new Lexus was better than that in the Accord. I have to say, I am really impressed by this AVS option. It's not that expensive when you take into account the overall cost of the car. Of all the options I added (and I added quite a few, including the Premium Nav which is a mandatory option if you want AVS) I think this might be the best. Ride comfort is a pretty subjective thing - I know a lot of people find the F-Sport absolutely fine. If, however, you're are concerned that the ride feels somewhat hard, then AVS might just be what you need. The handling is sublime and you don't have to suffer back-ache as a trade-off. I hope this feedback is useful to anyone considering this option. Cheers, Rich

  19. Two of my jobs for the week ticked off: service ✅ tints ✅ Few pics of the new tints, really like them, OEM look not to dark. This is the 35% grade, full UV protection for the kids to. Lovely job done by LM window tints in Corby, very professional, skilled and friendly, big thumbs up for them.
