  2. Just a potential FIX for you bashing your head against this particular wall, The problem, a 2008 is220d, 110k miles, with embarrassing quantities of white smoke from exhaust that smells of diesel fuel. My parents car has been smoking like a pig for the last few months, Diagnosis.... Garage condemmed the DPF and replaced it..................Still smokes. Garage says "just keep driving it, the smoke will soon stop"............It didn't Garage says "er, drive it some more"...................Still smokes. Garage yanks the injectors and send them off to be tested, by people who are not idiots..................non idiots send them back with the verdict, injectors are perfect...........................Still smokes. Garage now say they are sure it is the turbo which will need replacing...................At which point I get involved and rescue the car. No sign of misfire, compressions good, no play on the supposedly fragged turbo, no headgasket doom. Not trusting the fifth injector, I unclipped the fuel line and plugged it by clipping another injector on it. Went for a drive, white smoke gone! So confirming fifth injector misbehaviour. Changed the fifth injector, a total git of a job............Smokes, Argh! So it is the ECU telling the fifth injector to keep on squirting. Techstream turns up from ebay, so plug it in. The dpf pressure values are all over the shop, so tee in a magnehelic guage, which disagrees with the values from the software. Wiggle wiring, AHA! Gotcha! Pressure values in the software change in sympathy. So I remade the wiring from dpf sensor to the ECU and then got good values for the dpf sensor pressure. The ECU "learns" whilst you drive, but the corrupt dpf pressure data had totally confused it. Unplug car battery for ten minutes, reconnect, ECU starts to relearn with good data. Relearn the window winders by driving them for a couple of seconds against their stops at each door switch. AND THE SMOKE STOPPED! and mpg has gone up from 25mpg imp to 40+mpg imp. The magnehelic gauge reads 5kPa (20 inches water gauge) when regeneration of the DPF now starts. So to recap, check the DPF pressure sensor to ECU wiring carefully before spending lots of money on the garage partswap goosechase. Good luck on what is a fantastic car. Warning!!!!!!!!!!!! ! I only disconnected the fith injector for long enough for diagnosis, if it is disabled for too long, the DPF will probably clog up! I only disconnected it for 20 miles.

  3. Always promised myself one of these so thought id buy one to run along my mk3 LS400, picked it up last week and over the moon with it criteria was that it had to be an SE-L with the lane keep assist, full lexus service history, cream leather interior and have the half wooden heated steering wheel... obviously had to be in great conditon too. Its currently having the wheels powder coated and ive some cream overmats waiting for me at Lexus .

  4. Hello all, yet another newbie here with my first Lexus. My best mate has one and tbh I fancied her ever since I did a day driving for him. Nothing else for it but to find one of my own. Autotrader to the rescue. I bought this beautiful lady from a nice guy in Leicester. I'm afraid I'm one of those special folks that have names for their cars, she's no exception: she's called Shamaya :) The only thing I would like to do is upgrade the Sat-nav screen, hardware and software to something far newer - I'm a computer guy so that's only natural. I don't suppose anyone has any advice on that do they?

  7. Why do you need to have the email address of Lafaci if all is above board then it can continue in the public forum. Pictures can be posted on the thread. If the item is of Lexus origin or not the Non Gold Selling still applies. Don't forget selling via Personal Messages is banned as well unless you are a Gold Member and can result in an immediate ban..

  9. Hi Stephen and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Regards Mike

  10. Hi, I found this article but have never tried, hope this helps. "Sit in car, close door, turn IGN to ON (the last position before starting the engine, but no need to actually start engine) and set Odometer to full mileage reading (ie not trip A or cool.gif Turn off, remove key Re-insert key, turn back to ON (as above) Press and hold ODO button for 30 seconds (may be OK with less, but 30 worked for me) whilst still pressing ODO button, clip in seatbelt b_on or b-off appears in ODO display take finger off ODO button, and press again to change between b_on (bleeper on) and b_off (bleeper off) unclip belt and turn off ignition to set" Monte

  12. Here's a couple. I put it in the corner of the dash as I did with my last one, simply because there isn't anywhere else suitable. It's the only place that doesn't obscure vision (although it looks like it in the photo it doesn't) and as it's near the door mirror I naturally glance that way anyway.

  13. The dealer has just rung me to let me know it is all ok. They have checked the car over and even gone to Lexus Technical guys for assistance. Seems that the Air Compressor had gone. So they have replaced it. Going to pick it up this afternoon. Can't fault the guys at the dealer for all the effort they have put into it. If It had been Vauxhall etc they would have just replaced the part identified in the diagnostics and sent me on my way. Meanwhile I have out 1,400 miles on there sales car and not on mine. Night-Time
