  1. Yikes! As the owner of probably the most modified F in the UK, if not Europe, I actually do see where the op was coming from. Unlike my car, people buying these and using low quality, inferior parts do cheapen the pedigree in my opinion. There are for example no Halfords parts on my car apart from the Bosch windscreen wiper blades! I have spent almost as much on modifying my car as I did buying it! The challenge for me has been sourcing good quality parts to enhance the look, performance, handling without going too boy racer on it. It won't be to everyone's taste, but that really doesn't worry me. I've had far more compliments than criticisms, but it's about achieving what I want, and making me happy. I also enjoy the challenge of developing the car as somewhat of a pioneer. It's actually a lot more challenging and costly than some may think, as you can't get generic parts off the shelf to achieve what I want. I guess all I'm trying to say is calm it down guys. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I don't lose sleep over whether someone likes my F or not. Neither should you. I often look back over old photos of cars and cry with laughter at what I deemed cool when I was younger. Each to their own though. A lot of people say to me how amazed they are that my car is a Lexus, as they too follow the typical stereotype that Lexus are for old people, and they've never seen a Lexus like mine. I may not like how you've painted your house, but I'm not the one that lives with it! I probably spend at least £10K a year on my car. I also own a 5 bedroom house, and support a wife and two kids. Nothing chav about it, but it makes me happy. Life is too short guys. Just let it go.

Very much enjoying it so far but can't seem to suss out programming in my choice and order of radio stations. The only Radio ref in the manual is for Premuim Nav if fitted, and I don't....just standard Nav. I expect I'll be asking for help soon.. Hope you like the photos regards Andy :)

  3. Having had a bit of involvement in traffic modelling, 'smart' motorways do work; in theory. How it's applied by humans, that's a different matter... As for German cars, yes they do seem to exclusively occupy the outside lane which is clearly the responsibility of the b*ll*nds that drive them. Worry though that they will soon be autonomous and self-aware (God help us, can you imagine the algorithm they are working on?). However, what I object to with German cars is the myth - endlessly perpetuated by the motoring press and lovingly reinforced by the manufacturers - that their 'perceived quality' is considered the same as actual 'quality'; pure showroom showmanship. Read a few pages of Honest John's (award winning) website and you can see the difference between soft touch plastics and real engineering quality. IS or A4? No contest.

  4. Parts must be worth a fortune for them. Not huge market for Lexus parts and we know why :)

  7. I've done my LS400 a few times with the aerosol type, I put the AC on recirculate and max cold, open all the vents fully and set it off sat on top of the transmission tunnel in the rear. Don't worry it will get sucked in and reach the right places.

  11. Dale, thank you ..... it will be good to see how your experiences unfold, I'm quite terrified to change from my now elderly ( but fantastic ) Mk3 to a state of the art technology replacement that I fear will be nothing more than a moneypit ......... I sincerely hope it's not BUT as you know, these elderly Ls400s cost just about nothing to keep on the road and that's been my experience for 15 years of Ls400 motoring. The Ls460 would be my immediate choice too for replacement but I am seeing Ls600 prices collapse and maybe, just maybe, I'll have courage one day to experience my own 460 or 600 too. But like you I really can't see my Mk3 ever being too far away from me................................... Malc

  12. Not too up on the senders bobble - never had an issue. They would be behind the rear boot lining though on the tank I would think. Surely though if the tank is filled up and he's getting a ot of miles before the next fill, then the tank is fine. Interesting you tube post here. Barry1 year ago Hi there, if I remember correctly with engine off remove petrol cap and push on the tab inside filler neck that normally gets moved over by the fuel dispenser at petrol stations. Start the car and leave to run with the tab still pushed over to allow air out, it has something to do with the float sticking as the tank in the IS200 is in 2 halfs.

  13. One question - how many miles is he getting from a full tank? If it's 300+ then the tank is filling correctly so it suggests the sender. Or, in extreme, even the guage itself but I've never heard of one doing this in any car.
