  1. How's this then. Caravan insurance renewal came by post, about £50 dearer than last year, so hit the comparison site, found a policy for £60 less, went ahead and insured with them. Couple of days after renewal date, mobile rings and it's my previous insurer asking if I'd forgotten to renew. When I told him I'd gone elsewhere, he got all shirty that I hadn't given them a chance to compete with the lower price. The conversation went downhill from there, and after he'd heard my opinions on the insurance industry, we didn't part friends. Unbelievable!

  4. It works out at approx £10 per week. Equal to 3 pints of Beer or almost a pack of 10 death drops. If you want to protect your investment in a Lexus, then it really is a no-brainer in my opinion. Regards John

  6. Latest up-date - over 8000 miles on the clock now and still running like a dream - last two fill ups have been 45 and 44mpg and included a good chunk of motorway driving! A couple of minor niggles - last few cars I have had automatically turn the rear wiper on in reverse if the wipers are working and I can't see that the NX does this and on the drivers side of the windscreen I seem to get a band of poorly wiped area right in my eyeline and no matter what I do to clean the windscreen and blades always seems to be there....grrr!

  8. Good stuff! I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that my old 93 LS, the first Lexus I had, just passed it's MOT with no advisories, 23 years old. You wouldn't get that from too many makes of car.

  9. Thats because most refurb places use 1 colour to refurb the wheels. The original wheels have a silver base coat with dark grey stuck on top which gives the titanium effect and hence why its quite hard to match because its actually got 3 layers altogether including the clear coat. Getting them finished like original i.e 2 different paints usually costs abouto £100 a wheel.

  10. there is a write up here on how to do it - it is in 2 parts - alot of dismantling required http://www.evansweb.info/2009/11/15/ls400-centre-console-illumination-repair-part-1/

  11. No paint code for the F-Sport wheels. Even then, there's a good chance they've already been refurbed if you bought the car used and therefore unlikely to be the real colour anyway. 1E3 Phantom Grey is a decent match but only on small areas, don't go around the whole rim with it and you should be OK. The reason for there being no code is because the wheels are made and painted by a supplier who won't release details on the colour to Lexus

  12. Hi Ken, If you could ask the garage for the code numbers, that would be more useful than the "Engrish" descriptions the code readers sometimes give you! The problem could be many things at this stage with those lights on, but if you suspect a slight judder in the steering wheel feel, I'd take each wheel off in turn to visually inspect the brakes, paying attention to the part that the ABS wires go into each wheel sensor. One other easy to check thing for this light combination is to ensure the rubber seal isn't perished/cracked around your fuel cap and you have a whoosh noise upon opening it. The only other thing from the top of my head is a Catalytic converter/O2 sensor issue, but start with simpler things first!

  13. Mine was serviced last October at Lexus Manchester, just a month before I bought it. Therefore, for the majority of the 2 years warranty, my only commitment is one service at Lexus. Early last month I noticed water ingress into the nearside headlamp assembly with constant condensation. I've been to Lexus Cardiff today and had it replaced under the warranty. I understand the assembly is £500+, so add in the fitting and 2 years Roadside Assistance.....looks like I've already had my money's worth, with 20 months still to run

  14. I think thats one of the things I'm really looking forward to most, the fact I will be driving something "different" to most other people on the road (or car park!)
