It's hard to see how this has anything to do with the thermostat - if it was stuck open the heater would still be a bit warm and the temp gauge would show low.
It is either an airlock, preventing coolant from getting to the heater matrix - check the pipes to the heater (at the back of the engine) - they should be hot to touch at all times the engine is hot - if not you have an airlock.
Or it could be the heater controls - there's an ecu which controls motors to arrange airflow to mix hot and cold air as required. Something could be wrong there.
But as this followed a low coolant situation, I'd go for the airlock. Try cautiously disconnecting hoses in the coolant system and see where coolant or air escapes.
They are normally illuminated with small filiment bulbs, never repaired one but if you can solder not too bad a job to do.
I'll try and take a look at mine this weekend and see what's involved to repair it.
Something that many people don't understand is that even if the part is OEM, it still has to be declared if the OEM part was put on after leaving the factory. Some insurance companies are also realising that a BMW 5 series for example can be worth £35k or £45k depending on options and therefore, they are now getting customers to declare all options.
Never received a reduction yet for fitting any of the dozen or so towbars I've had.
Bottom line is, if you give them a chance to screw you over, especially mid term, when they have you over a barrel, then they surely will.
That said, fitting a roll cage is kind of a giveaway as to your driving style.
Does that mean you don't have a 'run home' wheel in the 250C?
Those vids made me chuckle. I had some when she was serviced at Lexus. Whilst in the car park I opened the bonnet and checked the air filter ....it was blacker than a bag of coal. When I pointed this out the reply was "we only change those every 35,000 mls as scheduled. You are 7,000 mls off that".
My response was, well you should at the very least do a visual ... it took me 5 mins to get the old filter out and inspect it. Hardly time consuming. 35,000 mile between changes is ridiculous. I do mine myself ( and the cabin filter at same time ) every 12 months or 12,000 mls whichever comes first.
I go to an indy now. The owner had a Lexus 250 so knows exactly what to do. Including greasing the slider pins!!
Ive had mine 4 years and covered 40k in it. here is the list of parts ive replaced, apart from front discs and pads;
1) eh,hold on, mmmm, no, cant think of anything.....eh...
Carrying a starter pack is a good idea in this situation, but be very aware connecting the jump pack with reverse polarity even for a split second will do £100's if not £1000's in damage to the electrical system.
If the car is in an outside car park a cheap solar panel in a south facing window will keep the battery charged.
Hey Gib.
Possibly. Depends how far I've got with my current mods.
If not, will be doing some other shows before the end of the year for sure.
Got a feature to do with Banzai or Japanese Performance as well. Should be fun!
Cheers.
