  1. Just got them fitted. So far so good. Tyre fitter called me first to make sure i knew i ordered a different tyre size from standard and he did seem a bit puzzled but when i picked the car up he said they fitted really nice and are a better fit than the standard size. Will keep You posted on the progress but so far the car just feels that extra bit better. Could be the tyre size or the pss tyres or both..

  2. So, I will shortly be the owner of this fine specimen. The Lexus has been fantastic, probably the best car I owned in my long list of motors. Felt like a change and this will certainly up the ante. I dont usually purchase a car so quickly but the seller and the car itself on this occasion ticked all the boxes.

  5. Hey guys, Its been an awesome weekend with the IS250. The car is probably the most refined I have ever driven and definitely the best I have owned. Its unbelievable that its 8 years old and looks and feels like it rolled off the production line yesterday. I'm impressed. The Mark Levinson audio system is out of this world. I consider myself quite fussy when it comes to audio systems, but this one takes the cake. Anything I play in it just sounds fantastic. Only gripe is that the wheels tend to collect a lot of brake dust. I'll apply some anti-static wheel wax to the rims when I detail her this weekend. I can't seem to get the memory seat function to work......but need to read the manual to make sure I am not doing anything wrong. I tried with it in Park, in Neutral, with the engine off and with it running......Nothing doing :-( Other than that, I have picked up any issues at all. John - long time no see. Thanks man. Yes, I am keeping the IS200 (plan on keeping her for as long as possible). You're right, I sure love these casrs in Pearl White......Planning to also fit a piano black boot spoiler on the IS250.......just need to find one I like on eBay. Other than the spoiler, the only other thing on my wishlist for now is to tint the windows. The African sun can be pretty harsh and I wouldn't want to mess up the speakers on the rear parcel shelf. Here is a pic of the two cars......albeit a poor quality one. I'll take better pics once I have detailed the paint next weekend.

  6. As promised some photos of the latest acquisition. It's only an average phone camera, and naturally it started raining! Although the parking sensors were fitted from new the colour is naf so I'm having them painted next week. This morning it had two new Goodyear tyres.

  7. Further to what your mechanic says, just enjoy it and don't dwell on it. Its no surprise you're thinking the worst with all the diesel scaremongering about. As for that lexus extended warranty, lets just say they will simply tell you to f off in their usual surly but very polite way.

  9. Hi Eric, First i would like to say congrats for your new acquisition , it looks amazing . I always fancied the cl's . Even if you have changed the brand , when you have some time i would appreciate if you could write a few words about the running costs for it and how do you find it. Kind regards, Adrian

  10. Yep, life is way to short not to grab a bit of feel good motoring.....presumably at a fraction of that £120k brand new price, making the experience even sweeter! Hopefully build quality proves to be as good as it looks.

  12. Hi again David. Don't laugh will you........................................it was me who started the thread that I mentioned. Just shows, the old brain matter doesn't work as well as it used to! Here is the link to the thread, took me a while to find it and it took me by surprise when I realised that it was me who started it. Silly old codger aint I eh!!

  13. Yes there is only one reversing light. In my opinion it is a totally stupid idea. I was driving along some very narrow and unlit lanes here in Devon and it was necessary to reverse to createroom for another vehicle to get past and, with only one reversing light it doesn't make things easy. There was another thread on here a while ago where it was discussing the possibility of fitting rear fog lights in place of the rear reflectors and changing the existing rear fog light to a second reversing light. Not to sure if anyone actually did it. I must say that it appealed to me to do the mod. I think that someone also pointed out that rear reflectors are a legal requirement and so it would probably be wise to fit some additional ones after changing the originals.

  14. I'm sure there's a priority motorway setting as well. Something worth remembering is that standard postcode is 7 digits so would be AB12 3CD. Therefore you would be able to put this in completely without using space. With 6 digit postcodes you have to put a space. So it'll go like this - AB1 SPACE 2CD. That wold explain why the 2 was greyed out if you didn't put a space in

  16. Hi. There are a couple of items represented by a couple of car graphics on the lower left corner of the screen when the reversing camera is engaged by shifting into reverse.. Press them to switch mode. All the best with the car. RX is fabulous Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

  17. I don't think its any of the replies so far. I know you have a diesel but our petrol engines always put out white smoke or more correctly steam especially during cold winter days, its just the build up of condensation within the exhaust system and soon disappears once the car has warmed up. There is no smell to the cloud coming out of the exhaust and there would have been if a head gasket had gone or was going and the colour of the smoke would have a blue haze to it and stink of engine death. If you had a brand new Bentley, Ferrari, Bugatti or Rolls Royce they all do it. Mike.

  19. I think we should get a Lexus Owners petition going and try to force them to offer map updates at a more realistic price. I'm not techie minded but, when I'm out with my son in his car, he uses his phone and it seems pretty good to me and, it seems it is always up to date too.

  20. I just want to thank everybody again for your help and input and just because this Lexus has turned out to be something of a disaster, it certainly hasn't put me off Lexus. One day when I've sorted myself and my finances out I would like another LS430, probably a face lift one or perhaps a mk4 LS400. This time though I'll be going in with my eyes wide open and really scrutinise everything about the car and follow everybody on here's advice to the letter and not get carried away and let my heart rule my head and it won't be from old Baz this time!!! Speaking of old Baz, he bought himself yet another LS400 not long ago after the cat c write off one he bought and guess what? He's now looking for another LS430 in light blue this time!!! To be perfectly honest this car isn't quite as good as old Baz made it out to be as he described it as having everything in full working order and only needing the alloys maybe refurbishing to make the car like new!!! I've mentioned niggles and faults in other threads such as blown subwoofer, heated and cooled seats hardly work, power fold mirrors don't work properly, rain sensing wipers don't work and some other minor niggles. I allowed myself to get carried away though and bought the car thinking I could repair or live with these issues and some people on here said not to buy it and it was a bit overpriced but as I said I allowed my heart to rule my head and am now paying the price such as life, next time I would prefer to get it from a dealer because then at least you get some protection from the sales of goods act should things go bad and also would like less miles on the clock. Hopefully the Mondeo will be ok and see me on for a bit, it's a Ghia X so still has a lot of toys and being diesel I will definitely feel the difference at the fuel pumps lol!!! Anyway, thanks again and hopefully I'll get another Lexus in the not too distant future. (Perhaps I should've kept the GS430 a bit longer as that car was just about perfect after I sorted the heater problem by topping up the coolant tank). I'm rambling on now lol but as I said the LS430 is here for spares or repair if anyone's interested. Cheers everybody!!!

  21. If manufacturers ever get MirrorLink - or similar - to work properly, maybe built in satnav will indeed become redundant. In my other car, I use an old Xperia Z as a satnav. I keep it in the car and use it just for that. I have downloaded offline maps onto it (Navmii), so don't need any kind of data plan, and just refresh the maps for free every 6 months or so. It is just as good as a built in satnav, shows POI and speed limits etc.

  22. Thanks. I would have preferred the dealer to have just told me the calipers (front pair) needed replacing since I still have the warranty, but at least it shows they're honest. One of the rear calipers was replaced by the previous owner, and I had the other one replaced under the warranty after a 'Summer Heath Check' at a different dealer found the sliders were sticking.

  23. Some good advice from Colin & Neil ... If it has a Lexus warranty I would want the pump changing free of charge & would pay only for the belt (it being nearly due) As Colin mentioned the bushes are debatable, if they aren't covered, they look ok & your not having any problems, I wouldn't replace them until they came back on an m.o.t. or failed & would get somewhere with a lower labour cost to replace them, I would think you only need change the bushes not the arm's ... On a similar note I only did this "health check" once on a shogun, came back as needing a replacement upper front drivers side wishbone due to worn bushes at £680 (it squeaked when you stood on the sidestep) .. 5 minute check it was ok & a squirt of silicone & it was fixed (I never changed it & it passed 7 m.o.t's afterwards) I never went back to Mitsubishi Oldham ...
