  1. As promised some photos of the latest acquisition. It's only an average phone camera, and naturally it started raining! Although the parking sensors were fitted from new the colour is naf so I'm having them painted next week. This morning it had two new Goodyear tyres.

  4. Well, this made my day Nah, but seriously, we may have had our disagreements, but you are obviously a helpful and active member of this forum. The CL looks very nice, and no doubt goes very well. Good luck with it.

  7. Guys - if it's been snowing and you want to get something out of your boot, clear all the snow off the back of the roof and off the rear window and boot lid before opening the boot. Otherwise, the snow might slide down and through the gap between the boot lid edge and the window and fill your boot with snow. Just saying....

  8. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt Yesterday I opened the RX drivers door and just stood outside while I started the car. Auto wipers went on then filled door pocket with snow!

  9. In my opinion if you pay so little for a dash cam it probably wont have the customer backup in case of a fault. I have a Nextbase 420 G with g sensors and GPS, it was a which best buy. It did go faulty within 8 months but sent it back to Nextbase on Saturday and got it back on the Tuesday fixed at no cost to me! OK it cost 10 times the eBay one but you pay for what you get! It's mounted on the screen on the passenger side on the rear view mirror and powered from a 12 V socket on the floor tray. It has a built in screen for playback so no need to patch it to a monitor, also comes with some neat software which links to Google maps.

  10. If I were you I'd leave the sensors where they are and buy new. The threaded valve is alloy and will be corroded, they'll probably break getting them off, mine did. These from ebay, have replaceable valves. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4x-TPMS-tyre-pressure-sensors-valves-for-LEXUS-GS-300-NEW-/301839822641?hash=item46470e2f31:g:nJQAAOSwX~dWh-Ns You can also put the broken ones in the spare tyre but they'll be destroyed if you use it or make a pressurised container to fool the system. http://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-xb-2nd-gen-wheel-tire-1796/tpms-pvc-trick-works-updated-w-pics-144818/

  11. I think the vehicle you're looking for doesn't exist.

  12. The easiest way to "see" what's going on is using techstream diag software. The only thing I can say when my rear left (nearside) strut got really bad is that it "crashed" over every slight bump and pothole and spoiled the usually serene ride. Once it got really leaky, the pump would not come on often (shuts down to preserve itself and only wakes up after 75miles or 3 drive cycles). Start looking for a replacement strut on eBay or saving for a new one! I take it you have no warranty on the RX, Piers?

  14. Hi Damon See my posts from a few years ago regarding RX400h and snow. We now have an RX450h and will shortly be driving down through France for a skiing holiday. Will be interesting to see how it performs in snow! Hope that's of interest. JBP

  15. The back end is purely driven by an electric motor, if you aren't heavily accelerating or have slip on the front wheels then there will be no power applied to the rear wheels. If you are lightly braking then the electric motor is providing that braking force which is less likely to lock the wheels than the mechanical brakes and the ABS and VSC systems would stop any wheel spin from occurring within a very short space of time. I never really drove my 400h in that much snow, the one time I did it when up a hill without any issue, a hill that a lot of other cars were struggling with. The RX300 isn't exactly an off-road vehicle, I'd say the 400h is just as good.

  16. I owned a BMW 320 petrol , 320d & 330d.. The 320petrol was thirstier than the Lexus is250 and no comparison to the Lexus ride quality, the 320d averaged around 43mpg and the 330d around 30mpg. My is 250 averages around 27-31mpg mainly town driving. I have a gs450h which averages around 25-30mpg also mainly town driving. I think the is250 for a v6 is a very economic engine. You have to put things into perspective, a BMW 318 for instance will probably see you in the mid 30mpg but it's such a dull car inside and out. I got rid of my Bmw's because I was sick of the image and also I found the interiors in particular to be very boring and lacking in creature comforts. Everybody has Bmw's or audi's. I genuinely feel good to drive something less common on the road and the Lexus badge holds a certain status which I feel proud to own.
