  1. If you have the Nav pop up screen from memory its under Menu > Setup > Vehicle Customisation. This menu is only accessible when the car is stationary, if you try to do this on the move then the options are shaded out. I cant remember all the choices, but you can have the doors set to unlock when the drivers door is opened, or when "P" is pressed, or not locked at all. I have mine set to when P is pressed

  2. He has been banned under all his aliases so the only way his cars get on here are when members post links to them I don't know if the other moderators would suggest removing any post that unknowing members post innocently. Maybe worth looking at. Mike.

  4. Think that used to be the case but its covered. Just aswell as there is a big fault with these. They seem to go wrong during very hot weather.

  5. Andy - I was also experiencing what you get in MPG but mine has now improved to around 15.5 doing lots of short journeys around town after a dose of CataClean (I think that's what its called). Mine has done around 117000 miles is serviced religiously and currently shows an overall average MPG of 16.8. When I bought the car 3 years or so ago it was showing an average of 20+ as the previous owner used it quite regularly for 40 mile+ journeys. I find on a good run mine will go up to mid 20's and the highest I have seen is 25 on a return trip to Leicester with a lot of stop starting in traffic for a 13 mile stretch on the outward journey. I have had my ignition 'bits' checked and replaced where necessary and recently had it checked for fault codes and it did not show up any problems. I also plan to run some injector fluid through the fuel system which I try and remember to do every 6 months or so. As others have commented, I do find that the car runs better after a good long motorway journey at a near constant speed. I often ponder replacing my car with something a little more frugal but have yet to find something that is as reliable and gives as much driving pleasure.

  6. Not having a pop at anybody, but why are we still giving this bloke free advertising, while any other member has to shell out £50 to put a for sale ad on? He obviously has nothing but contempt for this site and it's members, has been a member on here before (probably still is!), so should surely not have links to his cars allowed.

  7. Leasing is never greater than the depreciation costs - thats just not how it works lol - in that case the leasing companies would be losing more money than they were making! You can actually get that car for £22399 btw.

  8. i would get an independent (or lexus) inspection done on the car to see what state the suspension and other components are in.

  9. It should have generated an error code if the situation is as bad as it seems. Get the codes read

  10. I drove the 2.7 TD Premium Luxury Auto XF, which isn't necessarily a fair comparison to the GS450h due to the engine. Although the first GS450h i've driven was the totally abused one I saw today. • XF had more road noise, and a much firmer ride • Engine very noisy in the XF, it felt slower than my IS even though its not supposed to be. • The interior is very space age on the XF, to the point where its quite a wall of silver buttons, I think I would get used to this though. • The GS has more room in the back, the XF was ok (it solves the problem the IS has of no rear legroom when i'm driving), but in the GS I can fit behind myself driving, and i'm 6ft 4. • The XF had rust on the boot lid! I've not had a car with rust on since the 90's! • B&W audio system was nice on the XF, a warmer sound than the Mark Levinson system in my IS which I think can sound a bit aggressive. • The XF, at least to my eyes, is the better looking car. Overall I learnt a couple of things today, the XF isn't for me, the GS is my next car. As a said before even this abused one drove nice and smoothly, you could feel the power available. It seems though the cheaper cars are not going to be up to my cosmetic standards, so when i do a tour of cars next weekend i'm going to line up some lower mileage examples. My IS looks pretty much new inside and out, and thats how i like it.

  11. Mini 0801 cameras and their later models are made by various Chinese factories, The current model is the larger 0806 which is slightly larger than its predecessors and has far more ventilation holes in its case. That's because the earlier models used to overheat. The quality is variable. It apparently depends on which Chinese factory actually made the model you have bought - but if you get a good one it does work., the picture quality is good and the big bonus with the Mini range is that the cameras are so small you can hide them entirely behind the rear view mirror. The Mini cameras all slide into a stick-on windscreen mount which contains the GPS. Four Gold plated pins on the camera's mounting lug take power from four pins in the GPS mount. They need to make a good contact to ensure you get GPS readings on your camera. You can by-pass the GPS mount and connect the camera direct to the power supply - but bear in mind that the 0806 camera has the new micro USB socket and requires the smaller, thinner micro usb connector NOT the mini USB connector. (You can buy an adapter if you are stuck). If you connect to your camera - or your GPS camera mount - to the Lexus cigarette lighter socket you should be fine - but don't be tempted to try to wire the camera with a hardwire kit to the sunroof power in the headlining . This is because - even though your hardwire kit will come with a converter which brings the 12v current down to 5 volts (which is what the camera needs) - the voltage is NOT stable. If you put a meter on it you will see the current fluctuates widely from as low as 1.5 volts to 9 volts . THIS WILL BLOW YOUR CAMERA. Your camera needs a stable and rock steady 5 volts - so always take your power from the ciagrette lighter or from the auxiliary power outlet at the base of the centre console via the cigarette lighter plug which arrived with your camera . That will take the 12v current down to a clean and steady 5 volts. Most makes of dashcam are intolerant of incorrect voltage so it's absolutely essential you check and double check the voltage they are going to receive is correct BEFORE you connect them up.You will need a USB voltage meter with mini and micro inputs to check this voltage - you can't do it with a conventional tester with probes.
