  1. Thank you, I picked it up today and it really is lovely! Because of the condition inside and out I'm happy to spend some money if and when needed to keep it that way. It would be very hard to find another one as nice.

  2. There are some right morons driving on the roads these days with absolutely no respect for other people's property, a friend at work had her BMW hit while parked over the weekend to the extent it may be written off and the guilty party drove off. Fortunately 2 neighbours witnessed the incident and along with CCTV the registration was obtained and this is now in the hands of the police.

  3. I was planning to see the grey/green one in Swindon on Thursday, but I spotted this one on Gumtree and only 35 miles away. Mint condition, 117K complete Lexus history to date, and owned by the present guy for the last 10 years, he's just bought an LS460. Even the steering motors both work! It could be 3 years old, I've rarely seen a car of this age looking so immaculate. Picking it up next week. I may well be having coilovers fitted, well, at the first sign of trouble anyway! I'll put some better photos on when I get it back.

  6. I recently had mine done, a local locksmith supplied the key case, blade, transferred the guts over and cut the blade. Worked first time and cost me £20.00 all in.

  7. Looks good...I'm guessing yours is the ISF I see around Southampton then. Will need my calipers repainting sometime soon so I now know a local place to get them done. What ceramic coating is on your car? That really helps keep them clean.

  9. Wow, that is serious leaf-age!! The intake for the Cabin air comes in under the exterior windshield cowl. I'm pretty amazed that so many large leaves had got in! You can remove the cowl and will need to get the Vax in there. I can't think of an easier way to clean out the cabin air filter than you have tried, can you get the Vax end of the tube (with no attachments on) in the opening? The only other though is to go use a petrol station Vac, it may be more powerful... Imagine what delights await you under the bonnet in the engine's air filter housing!! :/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Lol, nice one Tom - it's a shame the Bridgestone's were so bad, I used to love the S02's back in the day on my Supra.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. PS, I think the font of all Lexus knowledge, Mr ColinBarber, may have kindly posted some pages from the Lexus service manual that explains (with diagram, from memory) how to diagnose if they are really bad on a post a while back... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Mine (13yr old RX, 110k miles) didn't look as bad as the pics, and I have been using silicone spray on them to hold off the rot. Most look pretty grubby but if they ACTUALLY have splits in them like in the picture, I'd start to budget for replacing them. Usually they can get pretty bad before you start noticing noises (knocks over bumps and uneven roads etc) - if you don't have any noises at present just treat 'em to some silicone spray :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  13. +1 for DanD - I had exactly the same problem. To reset, put the keys in ignition and turn so dashlights are on, pull sliding switch back and hold until fully open wait a couple of seconds and then push the slider forwards until fully closed (moves no more), wait a second or two then push the tilt button (back edge towards the boot) until no movement, then the same with the front edge of the tilt button. Wait a couple of seconds and confirm it's working by sliding the open button back and release immediately, the roof will slide all the way open and vice versa will close by itself when the switch is tapped forwards as Rayaan's described. You can also open all windows and roof from the key fob by unlocking the car with the fob and then pressing and holding unlock, when you hear beeps the Windows / roof open for as long as you keep the button depressed. You can also close Windows and the roof with the lock button too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Yep, Rayaan is correct. If this does not work for you, it could be that the battery was disconnected at some stage and the sun/moonroof needs resetting. Can't remember how to do this , but if you search the forum for "sunroof" you should pick it up.

  15. Sorry to correct you Britprius, but GS450h is indeed 6 cell with nominal 7.2V and there are a total of 40 modules. You might be thinking of the RX400h modules which are indeed 8 cell with nominal 9.6V.

  16. You are right. Sorry, I must mention - I compare it with IS250 which is by far not the fastest car around, still huge difference. And again you right, comparable car would be sluggish as well e.g. BMW e91 320d manual with the same 177hp is exactly the same. To clarify. It is not sluggish when compared with similar cars, but it is generally sluggish car. Huge part of it is that it is Turbo diesel - meaning until turbo spins at ~2k RPM you have maybe half of you horses... that eventually turns into driving like crazy, Hitting gas pedal always hard, because you always feel that lack of power on low RPM etc. This completely doesn't suite the car character. This is not limited to Lexus IS220/200, but rather to any "small" engine turbo diesel car.

  18. No rivers lol. Also forgot to mention that I have just had the rear tailgate struts replaced as they were not as strong as they once were. I was quoted £330 if I was paying cash. Like Dan said, having the warranty means that you can get things fixed that you might not otherwise have been bothered to. For example, I'm sure the previous owner of my car had noticed that the air con wasn't blowing cold (I bought the car in the winter), but I expect that they thought twice about spending £920 on a non-essential repair on an eight-year-old car. The main reason however that I got the extended warranty was the potential £7000+ cost of replacing the hybrid system if it went wrong. The peace of mind is easily worth £500 a year to me.

  20. Well , the car I initially looked at had the grey interior which unfortunately was showing its age as was the exterior with numerous scrapes n scuffs. I have now bought a black 56 plate which is in great condition and has its full service history. Looking forward to collecting it next weekend

  21. Just renewed my warranty, at under £90 a month for a year and two years cover I thought it was worth it. I am an ex-mechanic but with today's technology it makes it very difficult to do major repairs yourself, and it will cost you a grand at Lexus for any decent repair that needs doing. Just think of it as insurance, and if you don't claim you have had trouble free motoring for two years. As for your intermittent problem, I would think it is likely to be a multi plug that is not connected properly. I have had this sort of problem on a few cars I have worked on in the past (usually French), and found that by checking up behind the dash and pushing the multi plugs together, one of them would click where it had not been pushed fully home, either at manufacture or after a repair. Hope this helps.........

  22. I've had leaking rear taillights, a leaking water pump, an air con leak, and a seized brake caliper fixed under the warranty so far. All faults came to light <80,000 miles. Lexus play the 'wear and tear' card much less often than any other warranty company that you could find.

  23. Hope you don't mind me chiming in Just wanted to say that I also agree the extended warranty is worth getting. On mine, 2 months after purchasing it, my car needed a new flywheel. Lexus Edgware Road took care of it, no fuss. As such, the warranty has now paid for itself, and I still have peace of mind for some time to come.

  24. Yes, go for it. The extended warranty is quite extensive and also covers things like the audio system and satnav... and reversing camera

  25. I had a squeek coming from rear suspension when i went over speed humps; i thought it was a dried out bush. Under the extended warranty Lexus Reading changed the entire suspension arms and bushes! Cost £1250 to me cost £0 Yes, i believe the warranty is justified. If only for peace of mind as all Lexus spare parts are expensive and so are the labour rates
