  1. Ditto. Never driven any but my MKIV, but I've driven cars with same 0-60 times as the MKIII, and the difference would, I'm sure, be very noticeable. Admittedly, most of the time, it would make no difference, but I do like to floor it now and then, just for fun. I am planning to grow up some time soon though!!

  2. Or maybe that's why they get neglected? Owners assume they'll keep running without maintenance - which they do for a while. Some people just don't look after their cars, period. I see a lot of nearly new ones that are scratched all over and/or never cleaned. It seems a shame, but I suppose we all care about different things. To some people a car is just a means of getting from A to B.

  4. After a flight......ferry......and 7 hours on the road, I'm one very happy owner of a 2008 ISF. Purchased from a fellow enthusiast which worked out well. 2 years warranty added today for peace of mind. I look forward to learning more about the car. The info and advice I got from the members of LOC was invaluable, thank you. Mark

  5. Yes it takes 3 days or so and would be better if it didn't but they make them to suit each car almost as a one off. I don't think there is a pattern as such as there isn't the volume however give them the time, go to the effort and you will be rewarded

  6. decided to go with the Black 450-SE-L I am really pleased with it one small chip on bonnet but i can live with that runs superb but like Mike's, the motor was a bit late coming in and im only averaging 23 on gauge but all seems ok with the exception of the Dab Radio theres only one Station Radio 4 and i like my GOLD but cannot get it. I didnt notice the subtle Dab ariel on front screen I would have thought they would have had a better solution and its in the horizontal Position as any one got any ideas over the reception I did find out tho that the Radar Cruise etc was a 3.3k option no wonder not many about Robert

  7. It's sad to see any of these great cars neglected like the one mentioned in Chasdad's post. I think some owners simply don't appreciate how well put together the LS400 is.

  8. Thought this was pretty interesting. I asked my dealer why they put tyres with rim protectors on when they dont work when parallel parking even if you slightly hit the kerb. His explanation was pretty simple - its not designed to work when the wheel is parallel to the kerb. He said it was to allow people to mount up kerbs with full lock without kerbing the wheel. He was so confident that he told me to stand outside and mounted a 5 inch kerb with an IS F-Sport on full lock - guess what!? No kerbing on both front and rear wheels! He dropped the car off the kerb using full lock and still, nothing! He did the same with another IS which had just been traded in and needed a wheel refurb (had a slight scratch on it). This car had 40k miles on it and the owner had traded it in with winter tyres on which didn't have any rim protection whatsoever. He mounted the same kerb in the same way and the front wheel got kerbed about half way around. I took a very close look and it appears that when you fall off the kerb with full lock, the protruding lip actually stops the wheel coming into contact with the kerb itself and because its at an angle, its strong enough to ensure the wheel doesn't get damaged. When the wheel is parallel, the protruding lip just gets grinded and isn't very strong as it almost gets squashed which is why it leaves rims with chunks missing from them. Just thought it was pretty interesting.

  9. There's nothing to be confused about, it's old and needs changing ASAP. If it goes, then that = engine replacement. In my case, the belt had been changed (but nothing else) and not documented, as a matter of course for my own peace of mind I had it changed + water pump + tensioner + spark plugs @ 12 yrs old and 108k miles. The mechanic found that the water pump gasket was leaking and the tensioner had seen better days, but the belt HAD been changed for a billy no makes brand but looked good. With all that and the spark plugs done, major servicing bar faults put me good for another 10yrs or 100k miles, a positive side effect of the water pump changes means the coolant is also changed.

  10. Hi. Not the best intro to the forum but - have picked up the thread part way through, are you referring to the ex police car?? I was the purchaser from eBay for my sins, and I have the car. The 7 k advert was a scam, I purchased and collected a week or so before this advert appeared. Reported to eBay. And it was removed. How do people expect to sell a car they don't have??
