  1. Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum. This is my second IS300h (the first one "went) in a car crash). I've decided to modify it slightly- what do you think? - Got the roof done today. - Ordered a carbon spoiler on Ebay. What do you guys think?

  2. Having recently sold my series IV LS400 I have now gone and purchased another one, this was advertised on Gumtree and was fairly local to me near Sheffield so I went to take a look. It's a 1999 model with 134,000 miles on the clock with a full black leather interior, few bits need doing, electric aeriel fixed today with a new insert, driver's door mirror has been glued in position, brake warning light is on along with the washer level warning light. CD cartridge is missing ( does anyone have a spare?) but has bluetooth fitted. Cambelt is ready so will be doing the full kit with parts ordered from the USA. Pretty clean all round but needs a good valet and polish. MOT until end of July. Bought it before it went to Dudley and it gained a FLSH and new cambelt to become indeed a very nice example :) The ad photos weren't great so here is the best of them, I'll post some post valet ones up over the weekend (if the weather holds fine). 3. All is well. Passed with flying colours and the MOT cost was covered by the dealer. They'd marked the account up to say they would cover any costs. I dont think they could have done it as early as November Mikey, I think there's a limit to how early it can be done. I'm just pleased there was no hassle and they kept their word. Mr thar dropped it off first thing and they ran him into work afterwards. They let him know when it was ready and picked him up from work to go and collect it, can't fault that for personal service! 4. The beautiful silver Lexus ISF being referred to in this post is mine. I bought the car from Oxford Specialist Car's a while back. They have bought and sold the car a few times now (no its not the dealers personal car) and gained loyal customers through the process as anyone who bought it off them had zero issues with it and sold it back to them when moving on to a C63 or RCF. I have asked them to sell the car on my behalf as I just don't have the time at the moment. I love this car and its easily the best IS-F I viewed... I went to see lower mileage ISF's and they drove and felt exactly the same as this 100k one so I saved ££££'s and went for it! Good thing about Oxford Specialist Car's selling this car a few times is that they really know the car's history so I got a real insight into the type of owners its had and how its been driven, looked after etc. It's had the water pump sorted and it was serviced not too long ago at Lexus. After I bought it I even had a independent check done on it and a fresh MOT which confirmed that it was a solid car with no issues. Why am I selling it?? I've decided to buy a Lexus RCF and although driving both cars back to back in the real world there's not a lot of difference in performance I just like the look of the RCF! If you have any questions about the ISF you can PM me on here or get in contact with Huw at Oxford Specialist Car's who knows more about the car then me.

  5. Well, about 5 years ago my mate bought a GS450h which he likes a lot, but he still misses his IS200.

  6. DHP wheels. I've got them too. Too big, and they corrode badly. But the thing that really winds me up about them is that the hole pattern is directional. So the left side wheels should be different to the right side. And they're not. And now that you b*gg*rs have reminded me, it'll take me ages to get to sleep tonight. :(

  7. Thanks Cougar. I will give them a call and ask for costs. Lexus said they would need to replace the control module and that would cost 2000 pounds. two keys would cost 380 pounds. Funny how car is cheaper than the parts.

  8. It never fails to make me laugh when everyone piles in on to chastise someone about a comment on something we have all done or do regularly. Doing 70mph (or more) in rain is perfectly acceptable if the vehicle and tyres are up to it, the road conditions are acceptable and you have sufficient skill or experience to understand the actions and potential consequences. You don't see racing drivers slowing down to 50 when it rains unless they have the wrong tyres or track conditions make it the current safest or quickest method. Driving to the conditions (car and environment) is still the mantra, and these change all the time. However people get lulled into a false sense of security with modern vehicle and even the greats (Senna, Hamilton, Rossi, Lauda.......) made mistakes and got caught out. On the M6 last night north of Preston, as the traffic thinned out, I saw no issue with keeping the speed up in the rain with acceptable gaps. My tyres are good, I'm used to the car and know what she will and won't do, I put my lights on( many don't) and increased my safety margin to the car in front. I also treat the windscreen with RainX/Prestone so I can see clearly even in heavy rain. Bigger issue were the few cars who weren't so confident and instantly slowed down, some braking heavily which is even more dangerous and sticking in the middle lane!

  9. Sorry, but 70mph in heavy raini is not stupid, I have 30+ years of experience, covering upto 50,000 miles a year, and have never had a car which feels so unstable, I am talking heavy rain, with some standing water in the wheel ruts, visibility is/was perfectly adequate, I wasn't driving blind. I feel the tyre size is excessively wide, chosen for vanity rather than safety and comfort.
