  2. Hi, I've recently dropped my car 50mm with Tenzo-r lowering springs and the ride is now pretty bouncy.. Are there any shocks good enough I should get to replace the standard ones or are strut bars the way to go?? Thanks

  3. So with with a nice layer of snow on the ground I took the IS300H to an empty car park to see if I could warm my self up with some nice doughnuts....Sadly it quickly became clear Lexus didn't want the IS300H to be associated with this type of immature behaviour :( The TC kicks in regardless of what setting you put the car in, Snow, TC 'off', sport, manual shift. Worse than that it's not just the TC that kicks in, you can feel individual wheels been braked to try and stop the rear end from over taking the front. Shame really, because the car is beautifully balanced, you can start a drift/donut really easily, and for about 1-2 second it all feels really controlled, but than the TC comes alive, and it becomes like wrestling some kind of bear (I imagine). But it wasn't all just about trying to get an ASBO....Also tried 'snow' mode, which seems to lower the initial power delivery, and allows a bit more 'slip' before the TC kicks in. Overall very impressed how the car handled in slippery conditions, even with the eco tyres on :). Still a shame the TC is so intrusive, but at least the car still looks good surrounded by a bit of slush.

  4. Hello Spacewagon52, Thanks for the recommendation, might look more into those. The only thing with them is that I think they're a bit too big for what I require, also the relatively massive engines in them are probably a bit overkill for me who wouldn't be doing much in the way of motorway driving from day to day. But, oh God are they luxurious, spacious and I'm sure a dream to drive! cheers

  6. Yes I do agree Stuart, I appreciate that nowadays (and especially with an Lexus/ISF) 100,000 is not so bad but I would feel more comfortable buying with <70,000, knowing that when I come to sell in a few years time, I will be selling with <100,000. I hope more become available in the next few weeks. After seeing this ISF I very much have the bug to buy, I see some mention of an ISF in Guernsey but I cant find it online??!? Couple of comments to those looking at the ISF: 1) It looks even better in the flesh. 2) In my opinion the suspension is totally acceptable (considering the performance/handling). 3) The noise of the engine on start up and rev is magical.

  7. The IS is fine in snow - yours should be even better than ours as it has narrower tyres! Just stick in Snow mode and don't do anything daft and you'll be fine. I scraped the drive out today (it goes downhill and then curves around to the road) and it was slippy when I was doing it. I was sliding in my boots but the IS didn't even make a noise apart from the pavement where I forgot to shovel. The Merc before it on the other hand was a disaster! It'd slide and make crunching noises no matter what but then, it was 400kg lighter so perhaps the IS weight has a benefit

  8. I've been told the spare in a is300 is a get you home type. The one in mine looks exactly the same as the others. There's a sticker say 80 kmh so is that true. Gutted if so. The wheel and tyre are brand new

  9. Not local to the area but it's located at the side of a dual carriageway with Ferrybridge at the roundabout for the M62 half a mile down the road, there is a "hand car wash" next to it. Regarding accessing a car for someone else the question is if I was looking for a car for myself would I buy it ? I spend a good 2 hours there and of course liased with the buyer during this time.

  11. The headlight height sensor links are a common fail on the series IV LS400, I do have a couple of replacements knocking around if anyone needs one.

  14. IIRC the series IV LS400 was fitted with either conventional halogen or HID headlights. The HID lights have adjustors for both vertical and horizontal plane movement. If anyone would like the adjustment section of the OEM manual please send me your email address by PM.

  16. Long time since I thought about washing up liquid. I had heard it was a problem because of salt, but on the aa web site, just seen it saying it produces too much foam - so I assume that means you could end up driving through a bubble bath. I would imagine the amount of any additive in washing screen liquid will eventually cause a problem to the something on the car (be it paint, wipers, screen rubber), but the amount of salt and junk on roads in winter must surely do as much damage in the long run. The idea of meths and washing up liquid sounds fair enough, but I use the Halfords stuff, good value, keeps the screen clean and means I get to keep the meths for family tea times :P
