  1. Dip beams are HID (High Intensity Discharge) and are controlled by a ballast and an ECU. The bulbs act in the same way as an arc lamp,--- there is no filament just a gas and 20,000+ volts.(there's a warning label)! The bulbs are very expensive (you can buy cheap not-recommended Chinese ones) but they last a very very long time, like almost the life of the car. When you start your car, if you switch on your headlights facing a white garage door for instance, you should be able to see the headlight adjuster working to bring the beams up to the correct height. Hope this helps.

  2. Received the delivery yesterday from Lexuspartsdirect.co.uk. The main dealer was quoting £400 for the scuff plates and installation. Didn't bother asking about mud guards. Was looking to get the blue light version but alas not available here. The JDM versions cost a fortune (and only come as a pair of friont two!). Got the lot for £350 delivered. Now waiting for a good weather period to do a self install. I did install these on my IS250 (08) two years ago. The scuff plates are now more 'packaged' and the instructions seem to be quite clear. On my IS250 I had to find DIY instructions and also do some tapping into the wire looms. This time, it seems that Lexus has kindly made it a bit easier!

  3. Thanks for that. I will get the garage to change that as they are changing the oil and filter anyway. I get my car back tomorrow evening. Mechanic said that regeneration of the dpf was hard as they are meant to get it up to 300 degrees but could only get it to 250 so they chemically cleaned it out again and were able to regenerate it. I will go for a long hard spin tomorrow eve and put the update here. Mechanic also said that running the car while almost empty on diesel is very bad and to make sure the oil level is exactly correct. He worked for Toyota for 30 years but now retired and has a full workshop at home. While he is very good, he wouldn't be the quickest and the dpf had to be removed and sent off. More tomorrow... Fingers crossed but if I get any more issues, I am blanking off the egr and getting the dpf removed as I have a 150 mile daily trip and don't need these issues

  4. Sorry can't see any picture on your post ? If it's the auxillary bonnet catch you mean the part number should be 53550-30080 priced around £45.00 from Lexus.

  5. CT 200h Premier's have full LED beam headlights not Xenon and do not have auto leveling. Level of the headlight is controlled via adjustments behind the headlamp units as with Halogen. Hope this helps! Hmmm... if LED do not have auto leveling, you should then find a dial at the bottom right of the dashboard - as with halogens - and use this to adjust the beam, should you not? - Or are you suggesting that the range of adjustments offered by the dial is not enough?

  6. Alfa? I you are a brave man sir! I take my hat off to you! You are not a true petrolhead if you have never owned an Alfa. Alas I do not have the testicles to take the risk!
