  1. Well, it's not perfect and I'm aware of a number of smallish things that need fixing, but it doesn't half scrub up well. I've never polished it - life's too short - but I've tried that Demon Shine stuff you pour on after washing. Anyway, this is just after a normal wash and leather off.

  2. Hi everyone. I've had my IS300h for 1500 miles and wanted to provide some feedback. I think it's worth comparing with my previous car which was an Audi A4 2.0 TDie technik. I am very pleased with the car and in comparison with my Audi, the Lexus is a better car in every category. There are a few niggles already elsewhere in this forum, but I will mention them again. My car is the Advance model, so quite high spec. After 1500 miles the engine has loosened up considerably and the car glides now when driving in urban areas. The Audi developed several annoying rattles after 500 miles and I spent 3 years trying to fix them. I am happy to report the Lexus is rattle free. For everyday driving the Lexus wins. The Audi was only any good on long haul drives. The main niggle I have is the indicator stalks are way too sensitive when using them for land changes. My friend has a GS450h and has the same issue. I wish Lexus could fix these retrospectively as its a major pain and makes you look silly on motorways when changing lanes. I have also adapted to driving an auto after many years of driving a manual car. The transition had been easy. Finally, if anyone is in doubt about this car as the next company car, I wouldnt hesitate. It really is a civilised and fine way to travel.

  3. That's the thing about hybrids... once you have enjoyed the relative silence, comfortable seats and good quality audio... nothing else will do! Enjoy your new car and welcome to the most friendly and useful owners club on the 'net!

  4. Did they read the fault codes? Or explain what an 'oil sump solenoid' is? That's a new one on me - unless they mean a solenoid in the gearbox. We need more info before we can offer any advice, as Mark says. And where was the 'loose connection'?

  5. Check VSC means that there is a malfunction in the engine, car electronics, gearbox, brakes traction control or VSC system. You need an OBD 2 code reader to take things further.

  6. Common issue on the IS screen. The manual states wipe with damp cloth and don't use any chemicals. What's happened is the anti reflective coating has come off. In my opinion the coating does little to help reflections so just remove it all

  7. In an idle moment I did an MOT check on my ex 93 MK2 LS400 which I sold for £350 about 4 years ago with a leaky exhaust and a rust hole on the front wing. It was tested last December with 140k on the clock, and without an advisory! That says much about them doesn't it?

  8. Hi, really sorry to read about your misfortune. Some of the above makes for some really interesting reading. When I bought mine, it was to enjoy her to the max. Its the 2nd one I have had. This one far better then the first. It does not bother me about the value, so long as I get as much time possible out of the LS. That's value for money to me. Others will think differently. The LS is used everyday, in all weathers, and is plastered in mud most of the time. Someone on here once said these cars are very much working cars and hate to be left stood. I have been very fortunate to have done a lot of miles and just a few hundred pounds spent on tyres, oil changes, etc. The time will come when I will have to cough up serious dough. If mine was to meet with the same fate as yours, I would be gutted. I have toyed with the idea of selling before anything goes wrong, but whats the point. The mechanic who does the maintenance for me, says just keep enjoying her. As others have said, keep looking, frustrating as it is. They are out there. Tom

  9. The wife wants one of these. What up with yours dude? We love the 450h, can't imagine having any other car after having it for a while now Thought you meant you bought a dog of a car not an actual dog! Lol. Makes sense now.

  10. Hold the top end of the leather gaitor where it joins the gear leaver and give a tug, it should just come loss.

  11. I have had a couple as courtesy cars when mine has been in for a service, couldn't really notice much difference apart from the steering wheel controls which felt a bit cheap and tacky and I missed my sat nav flipping up into place. If I was looking to change again, I would opt for a used IS300h compared to a new CT - difference is remarkable.
